Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United KingdomJust such an amazing place. The family are so friendly and go out of their way to make this an experience you will never forget. Sahara helped in translation with his parents. His mother is an amazing cook and the food was wonderful. You are taken by jeep to the accommodation. An experience in itself. You can swim in the river in front of the property. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable. The night trek and all day trek with Ramesh were fabulous. We saw many creatures and had all our questions answered. The swim by the waterfall was very refreshing. We saw monkeys, scorpions, snakes, birds, spiders, tarantula, fireflies, loris, golden palm civet, kangaroo lizards and more. Thank you so much to Sahara for his company and answering my many questions about Sri Lanka and the people who live here. He also took us on to our next accommodation. An amazing place do not hesitate to book you will not be disappointed.

An amazing little cabin off the side of a beautiful river with waterfall you can swim in. This was the most unique and amazing rustic hideaway we were in. Such a special place! The family was super kind and the meals were plentiful and delicious. As it is isolated, you will probably eat all your meals here, they are good and well priced. Jungle tour recommended by Sahara, was fun and interesting. He was very easy to coordinate with for the pickup/dropoff by 4x4 from the nearest town. This place is so special, I cannot recommend it enough.

AustraliaLeaving.
We had the most amazing experience at the Rainforest Hideaway. We were sold purely by the concept of staying by a waterfall on the edge of a rainforest. The lovely father of the family came to pick us up from Deniyaya and the drive to the land was beautiful. But the real fun began at the driveway, which requires a 4x4 and low range towards the end. It was so much fun. The location and accommodation were even more beautiful than we had expected. His son lovely is the host, who arranged our Sinharaja rainforest tour and home cooked meals, all of which were amazing. When the sad time to leave came, he also drove us to our next stay in Udawalawe for a fair price. Our stay is a real highlight of our travels in SL and one of the most unique experiences we've ever had.

What a wonderful place and a great adventure. We love the location, the little house is super clean, no mosquitoes and the best natural swimming pool. The food is amazing and the owners very sweet and helpful. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed it to the moon and back. Highly recommended. Also the organized guided tours delivered more than we could hope for.

SlovakiaThe only downside is that the bedsheets and towels didn't smell fresh and the blanket didn't have a bed cover or a bed sheet so I didn't sleep underneath it.
It was simply precious. Private , secluded area. The owners picked us up with a jeep, organized a jungle tour for us and gave us a ride as well. The family is incredibly hard working and polite, they try their best to accommodate our wishes. The food is amazing. No AC but it wasn't necessary as it was pretty cool at night.

RussiaYou have to leave your car on a parking spot from where you're transfered few kms by a jeep. We haven't had any issues with the natural noise of waterfall and felt asleep as soon as our heads touched pillows. The house is simple yet comfortable. The hot water might have been a bit hotter though. Breakfast and dinner were fine. People working there are nice and friendly.

AustraliaIt was not a problem for us, but be aware the waterfall is loud and the road to get there is very bumpy, but they do offer their jeep service to take you down it.
A very unique experience to stay at this family run hotel. The experience of staying in the rainforest with the waterfall roaring next to us was great ambience. The food was home cooked and delicious. The staff were easy to contact and helpful with anything we needed.

BelgiumThe pillowcases were clean but not fresh (maybe the high humidity or bad fabric?) so I put a spare sheet on top of my pillows.
It’s magical to listen to the sound of the water and wake up to the view. The family who owns the place is exceptionally kind and helpful.

United Arab EmiratesMaybe add some cushions to the chairs in the breakfast area!
The family went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The cabins are tastefully designed and the location along the river is beautiful. The sound of the water lulls you to sleep. It's an off-road adventure to reach the cabins! The father is a true gentleman who picked us up when our taxi broke down, and then also drove us to ella when a taxi driver couldn't be found. Amazing. They also organize treks into the rainforest. Plan at least 2 nights here: you'll love it!

Netherlandsthere is no swimingpool with a glyde :)
We stayed here for two nights, on February 14 and 15, 2025, and it was a truly wonderful experience. This place is run by a warm and welcoming family who go above and beyond to ensure their guests have an unforgettable stay. Not only are they incredibly kind, but they are also extremely helpful. From growing tea and preparing delicious meals to arranging transportation – they do it all with genuine dedication. We have rarely met such lovely and caring people in Sri Lanka. The cottages are beautifully situated along a flowing river at the edge of the rainforest. The path leading there is somewhat adventurous and not the easiest to navigate, but this only adds to the unique experience. The river can be quite loud, but you get used to it quickly. For light sleepers, bringing earplugs might be a good idea. Everything was perfectly maintained – the accommodation was spotless and well-kept, and there is a reliable Wi-Fi connection for those who need it. This is the perfect place to relax and fully enjoy the stunning natural surroundings. The only small downside (which could also be seen as an advantage) is that you are completely dependent on the hosts for transportation, as the property is quite remote. However, they are more than happy to help, so this is not an issue at all. We chose this place because we wanted to visit the Sinharaja Rainforest, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The family arranges transportation to the rainforest, including nighttime excursions. Our journey through Sri Lanka continues, but we would love to come back here again!

United KingdomIf you're looking for a base from which to explore the rainforest reserve, this is the place. After arriving at the parking spot, remote in itself, the owner's son collects you in an ancient but sturdy Mitsubishi jeep. Then, There's a fifteen-minute transfer along a deep rutted track through the most stunning scenery. When you arrive, you realise you are in the middle of the jungle. There are only three cabins (three more under construction but note, no disturbance from building works as the owners are doing the work themselves and the new cabins are almost finished anyway). You're welcomed with a refreshing fruit drink (ours was cucumber) before a quick briefing and being shown to your cabin. The rooms are basic but functional, with a big comfortable bed and a large shower room/bathroom. Apart from a few ants in the bathroom, which soon disappeared, the cabin was bug-free. The big ceiling fan was enough to make it cool enough for sleep in the evening. You'll fall asleep with the roar of the waterfall and the noises of the jungle filling your ears and dreams. Each cabin has a verandah overlooking the waterfall. The rushing water is noisy, but you soon get used to it and it becomes part of the relaxing experience. The food cooked on-site by the mum is delicious and plentiful. We booked our Sinaraja walking tour through the Hideaway and this was also a perfect experience. I can't recommend this place enough. We went for a walk before breakfast and didn't make it far up the hill as we became transfixed by the myriad of wildlife on show. Monkeys, peacocks, jungle fowl, fruit bats, the most colourful of birds. We spent almost two hours just scanning the trees of the valley. Take your binoculars. CanadaThere was nothing that we did not like, but maybe be aware that there is no other facilities near by so bring extra snacks if you need. A fridge in the room would help 😊
We loved our Jungalow, it was spacious and equipped with all that you need for a stay in the jungle. The private river access and “natural” swimming pool are wonderful ❤️ The trekking through the Sinharaja Rainforest was perfect and our local guide Asanka was excellent! 🤩 We definitely recommend to take the time and book it 👌The staff were so accommodating and friendly. The food was wonderful and the jeep ride in and out of the property is an adventure in itself. Thank you for the lovely stay ❤️🙏🇱🇰

Amazing luxury huts in the middle of a forest right opposite a waterfall. Lovely for swimming in. Shahra and his family were wonderful and made us feel extremely welcomed. The food was some if the best we've had in Sri Lanka. All lovingly prepared by mum. We did some great treks with guides arranged by Shahara. Night trek was excellent fun! The huts are set up so you feel really remote yet you can walk into the little village in 20 minutes using the short cut. This was a spectacular experience and I highly recommend staying there. Thank you so much Shahara and family x

TurkeyThere isn't a swimming pool, only swimming in the river if the water isn't too high or fast, like after heavy rain. So the facilities list on booking.com isn't very accurate. You can't access the property via any means of transport other than their jeep or by walking, maybe motorbike. This is OK as they will collect you but it's a bit restricting at times.
The staff were very likable, helpful and friendly. Stunning views from our cabin and was nicely finished. The food was good luckily otherwise a long way to go if you want to eat elsewhere. Good walks in the surrounding areas to see wildlife, waterfalls, vegetation and the views were amazing.
