The rooms, the pool and surrounding areas were excellent, Chamara made us so welcome, nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely recommend this to our friends. Very nice place, a best of class hybrid between a boutique hotel and a home stay. Breakfast was a huge spread of delicious local specialties. We had Wood Apple juice and Egg Fruit for the first time- incredible! Highly reccomend. Chamara is very attentive and helpful with transportation and arranging activities around the SW coast or further afield. He transported us to Galle and arranged a Safari that toured Yala and Bundawala in one day!

The reviews do not lie when it comes to this place. Chamara the host really gives your stay a homestay feel, while you have all the luxuries of a hotel. The rooms are spacious, spotless, the property has a pool and rooftop and you also have a private balcony area. Chamara was there for any recommendations and help we needed, including booking us a table at a local restaurant and informing us of train times and operations. He really made us feel at home and gave us everything we needed during our stay. I could not fault our stay and for the price, you'd be crazy not to stay here! 10/10 thank you Chamara

I am sure the Hosts will invest in continuous improvements, that are required in any tropical climate, to tackle mosquitoes, cross-ventilations, bathroom exhausts, dampness!

1. Amazing hosts. Professional, polite and caring. Helpful suggestions about what to see, what to do. 2. Fabulously designed property - just two guest rooms. Better than most luxury hotels! 3. Huge room - spotlessly clean and so thoughtfully designed with all amenities and facilities. 4. Quiet location - with small & clean swimming pool, manicured lawns, trees, sit-out chairs, private breakfast table. 5. Fabulous breakfast. 5. If at Hikkaduwa - this is the place I shall stay again. Absolutely nothing!

We feel very fortunate to have secured 2nts last minute availability here at the end of our 2wk trip round Sri Lanka. It was by far the best quality property that we stayed in, with its boutique feel and with the best breakfast too…to top it off it had a lovely little pool and sun bed area. Chamara is a fantastic host. Thankyou for making the last 2nts of our Sri Lanka tour so special.

These hotel have all you need, big and clean room with A/C and TV with english channels, big shower, also small fridge in the room. Is an excellent place for relaxing and having some time enjoying the swimming pool. The owner and the rest of the workers are super kind and they put attention to detail. The breakfast was delicious and a lot of food! Also, we needed a taxi to go to the airport and they booked for us. We enjoyed a lot the experience, it was a pleasure.

We stayed for one night at the beautiful Residents Hotel in Hikkaduwa during our last trip. It was very clean and tidy, with everything you need available in the room. It was furnished like a real 5-star hotel. The room was spacious and harmoniously decorated. The pool area was perfect for relaxing, with great sun loungers to enjoy the sun. The host even stored our luggage for our later departure and allowed us to use his private shower so we could enjoy an extra half day. Additionally, he let us park our tuk-tuk with him so that the tuk-tuk.com company could pick it up, which we really appreciated; not everyone would do that. Best place in Hikkaduwa,rReally recommend and we would like to come back anytime soon. Thanks Chamara

Everything was great, literally! I expected much less but it is really like the comments say. Perfectly clean, way cleaner than other hotels. Even clean for German standards and since the owner worked in German hotels for some time, it is supplied with everything one might need, shampoo and shower gel, soap, vanity kit, safe, Minibar, towels, fan etc etc. Also two complementary liters of filtered water. The beds are really comfy and clean too. The pool area ist such a nice place to relax, the staff is very friendly as well as the owner and his family. It is very quiet, 5-10 min walk to the beach in a secure area. Directly in front is a very nice restaurant owned by the neighbors, were we had amazing Pineapple juice and our first curry. The breakfast is done by the staff, we tried Sri Lankan and it was great tea, some fruits and pancakes, rotty and curry, everything very delicious and more than enough to be full after a nice morning swim in the sea. We also liked that they took our low spice tolerance into account. Chamara, the owner, was so nice to drive us to our next destination when we asked and offered a very good price. He asked us what we wanted to see and showed us around some nice places that we would otherwise have missed. He also gave us many useful tips and told us about the history of Sri lanka since it was our first time. We couldn't have found a better stay for our first night. Thank you so much for that and for your hospitality, we would definitely come back and wishing you and your family all the best!

We were return guests from eighteen months ago. We liked it very much and the host is very engaging. We also used them for an airport transfer for a friend which was seamless. The pool is lovely and the rooms luxurious. We like the locations easy walking for food and drinks. Secure parking and we were looked after well. Definitely is a 10!

I can not think of anything.

It is one of two large property close to beaches and shops. This is a busy area but at The Residence you are in a quiet tropical paradise. There is a private pool which was warm and relaxing. The unit was exceptional and every detail thought of. The staff were friendly and made delicious breakfasts of our choice. Either western or Sri Lankan. The owner solved all our issues in getting to the airport. As well, arranged a cooking class and tour around Hikkaduwa. I highly recommend this property.

If I had to describe some negatives it is a little far from the main drag of beach bars so we found ourselves walking a lot each evening or getting tuk tuks. However this does means you’re in a quieter part of town so it could be a positive.

Quiet and beautiful place to stay in Hikkaduwa. A great plunge pool and the rooms are amazing. Spacious and decorated beautifully. Would 100% go back.

Everything was perfect! We had a perfect stay in the beautifull room Chamara made available for us. What makes it so perfect is that is a very private place with a relaxing garden including a nice and refreshing pool! Private on one hand but also close to the buzzing town of Hikkaduwa, the beach and some of the cities best restaurants are a little walk (couple of minutes) away from The Residence. The rooms are really nice, clean and have a luxurious shower, cooling airconditioning a mini bar, perfect bed and even a TV. In front of the room you can chill on a sunbed close to the pool (which you only share with one other room). Chamara is a perfect host, interested and very helpfull with lots of tips an knowledge of the city and the country. He also speaks perfect English! We would highly recommend this spot. It will give you the feeling of a retrait so close to the centre of Hikkaduwa - we would love to come back one day! Regards, Amber and Peter

Loved every thing about the property.

Immaculate property with a feeling of calm and tranquility. The garden area and pool really pretty and well cared for and the breakfast served on the upper terrace was delightful. The host Chamari was friendly and helpful, he offered visits out and was very interesting and informative.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Residence with Chamara and his family. They were friendly, helpful and easy to contact when necessary. The apartment was very clean and spacious with an efficient air conditioner. The Residence has a nice outdoor area with a pool and lounge chairs. Our breakfast was served on the balcony and was fresh and delicious.
