Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThey are building a new section of the hotel which is a bit of an eyesore but they were not working when we were there and did not take away from the pleasure of our stay.
The hotel was so friendly and calm nothing was too much trouble and if they didn’t have it they would get it. The hotel has lots of animals rabbits, peacock, turkey and chickens all keep you company while sunbathing round the pool. They also have a natural pond that attracts many creatures and birds. Lovely to wake up to birdsong in the morning. It’s a short walk through the walkway to the beach and Fernandos bar and selection of restaurants.

United KingdomPool wasn't very clean which put us off going in. Massive unfinished building overlooking the pool is a bit of an eyesore.
Staff and hotel grounds were nice. Walking distance to beach and right in the heart of lots of restaurants. Huge pool.

AustraliaThis plac was great and it is getting renovated further. Lovelt staff went our of their ay to be so helpful, including going out to get me special food for my breakfast. There is a beautiful pool, gardenwith birds, the rooms were very large and clean (just didn't have a tv and tea/coffee but I think that can be arranged) and a short walk to the beach.

GuernseyOn reflection, the booking.com price for included breakfast was expensive but I guess justified by the size and quality. I found most of the staff quite unfriendly except for the lovely night watchman and the breakfast chef who was keen to please. There is a large construction site alongside the pool, possibly additional bedrooms. At its current early stage, it wasn't very noisy and didn't cause us any inconvenience.
The room was big and modern with a good bathroom with quality towels. The pool was huge with adequate sunbeds. Breakfast was massive with a fruit plate, fresh juice and a large plate of cooked food (eggs, sausages, potatoes and vegetables with fried chicken or prawns) as well as good toast. There was a fridge and kettle but we had to ask for cups.

AustriaThe pool was very big but there where many crows, they pooed everywhere. The kitchen in the pool was not very clean. Two cockroaches coming from the bathroom but i didnt mind too much. The towel-holder broke down when i hung a towel onto it.
It had a nice shower and it was very close to the beach and bars and restaurants. Stuff was very kind and friendly. The beach and the sea were magnificent.

RussiaDuring our entire stay, our room was never cleaned, so we probably should have asked. We had enough towels, but we were surprised; usually hotels clean the room every day. Short bed (I am 1.77m, feet were hanging) , there is one bedside table near the bed, not two. There was no heated towel rail in the room, but everything dried perfectly outside on chairs
The hotel has a great location, it has its own path to the beach, a clean beach with a cafe a 4-minute walk away. The hotel manager is very hospitable, the staff is good, they try to help with all questions. Our room was decorated for our arrival on the occasion of our honeymoon. The staff helped us change money, navigated where there were good shops, and prepared breakfast for ourselves before we left for the airport. The hotel area is very green, chickens and rabbits are walking around, it’s so cute. There is hot water with good pressure! The air conditioner and fan work great. Freshly renovated, clean and working plumbing

DenmarkWe traveled as a family of 4, children age 5 and 10. We had the most wonderful stay at Lucky Beach Resort. We enjoyed the pool at the hotel as well as the white sandy beach only a few minutes walk from the resort. The staff and the manager were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay hospitable. The kitchen chef is very skilled and we had amazing dinner and breakfast of choice. The Resort is also surrounded by numerous restaurants with great seafood choices and the best mango smoothies. We went on a boat trip of whale and dolphin watching and also snorkelling at Pigeon island national park via the tour agency at the Lucky Beach Resort. It was absolutely an amazing experience and a must activity when in Trincomalee. We look forward to our next stay at Lucky Beach Resort when in Trincomalee.

New ZealandThe mattresses were really thin, uncomfortable and not covered under the sheet by a protector. The pool was really dirty (was cleaned when we complained). The photos did not match the reality - its quite tired. Our room stank from sewage - they did fix it (but not completely). There is the structure of a new building next door, right next to the pool that is not shown on the photos, thankfully no work being done on it while we were there. They advertised a private beach but this was not the case - they are willing to put out day beds if asked (but no shade available).
Staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. Breakfast was OK. Located reasonably close to the beach.

United StatesResort is overstating jt. It is a work in progress for sure. Locks and door knobs in the room don’t always work, towel rack was coming off the wall, wifi is very slow(though you don’t come here for that), was told beach towels were only for the pool but they let us take them to the beach anyway. Also reception has no computer so everything is done by hand, a painfully slow process and they don’t take credit cards. They have a lot of work to do and seems to be open prematurely.
Lucky Beach has a great pool, that’s for sure. Location is good and unlike other nearby properties is nice and quiet. The staff were welcoming and friendly.

A nice hotel, a beautiful area where peacocks walk, chipmunks and iguanas run. A beautiful pool, a very hearty breakfast (probably after it you will not want to eat until the evening). Five minutes to the beach, near the beach there is a great cafe and sun loungers from this cafe. Upuveli Beach is the best in all Trincomalee. The hotel staff is available at any time and is always ready to help in solving the nuances. There are tours from the hotel, such as fishing. There are no mosquito nets, because there are no mosquitoes either. Overall nice and cozy.
