We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

If Sri Lanka is the pearl of the Indian Ocean, then this Cabana is the pearl of Sri Lanka. What a moving experience staying here has been from start to finish. You have made us feel like family from the moment we arrived, and the care you have shown us is absolutely unforgettable. Wasantha, your passion and care for nature is wonderful, and your enthusiasm is contagious. We have never experienced hospitality like it. Niror, your cooking was the best food we have tasted in Sri Lanka - melt-in-your-mouth, the spice - it was sublime! Listening to the birds singing, the thunder rolling, and your daughter singing whilst sitting amongst the palms was magical. Witnessing the sea turtles last night was a once-in-a-lifetime experience we will never forget. No words do it justice! ස්තුතියි from the bottom of our hearts - we will be back, and we are sending anyone visiting Sri Lanka to you! BOHOMA STHUTHI WASANTHA & NIROR 🧡

United KingdomA lovely rural place to stay with only two rooms set in a pretty, wildlife friendly garden. Our breakfasts were tasty and our evening meals were vey generous. Wasantha arranged a lively early morning bird watching trip at a bird sanctuary. It was so peaceful and excellent value. Turtle watch was just as other described it! Do visit the rock pool which in early April was at its most calm and safe before 1030 am. It is a beautiful unspoilt coast here though the seems was rather rough for us.

SpainOur first minute in tge Turtle Island Cabanen showed us that we were exactly in the perfect place to discover this area, the turtles and to fell even more in love with Sri Lanka. We have never met someone like his owner Uassante: always smiling and trying to be helpful and make you enjoy every minute of your time here. His enthusiasm for his land and the turtles is contagious and we admire him for that. It helps a lot that he himself works for the turtle conservation project, he helped us in every possible way to enjoy the night watching. Watching the turtle egg laying in the night was amazing and moving and I wished I could have spent the whole night on the beach. How beautifuly did the turtle made sure that the eggs where properly covered. Motherhood is amazing in any form but this one was particulary moving. Thanks a lot for a great experience. Also thanks to Niror for the delicious breakfast!! Best roti ever! Birds, peace in the garden, breeze... It's like heaven.

GermanyNothing - it's the best.
Our stay at Turtle Island Cabana was our favourite stay in Sri Lanka! Beautiful jungle beach paradise with plenty to explore, wonderful host family, very comfortable room in a pretty garden setting and delicious, varied breakfast each morning. We would highly recommend Turtle Island Cabana - particularly if you're looking for untouched nature, peace and quiet (other than the sounds of peacocks and other birds :)) Wasantha, his wife and daughter continually went the extra mile to make us feel at home, arrange excursions like the lagoon tour and nighttime turtle watching and our travel to our next stay. We loved our stay so much that we ended up extending a further 2 nights and honestly could have stayed longer. Thanks for everything - hope to see you again one day! Greetings from Christina and Lennert.

A small chalet located in the Rekawa wetlands area close to the lagoon and ocean. The owners were very accommodating serving a really good breakfast each morning. Wasuntha took me on a Tuktuk tour of the wetlands and lagoon showing me the diverse variety of bird life in the area, he is also a warden at the Turtle Sanctuary and assisted in gaining access to see the turtles laying eggs and returning to sea late in the evening which was brilliant.

BelgiumWe stayed for two nights and were truly impressed by the hospitality and kindness of the hosts. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the lovely family, who made us feel right at home. They are such amazing people, and the host is the perfect guide for birdwatching and turtle-watching experiences. The owner also volunteers at the nearby turtle sanctuary, so if you’re looking for the best experience, this is the place to book! The room was spacious, spotless, and comfortable, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious—one of the best we’ve had. Overall, a fantastic experience that exceeded our expectations!

United KingdomI liked it all.
Turtle cabana was in its own secluded spot surrounded by a beautifully kept garden and only a few km from the main road into Tangalle. Rekawa is its own little area and well known for turtle conservation. The room was big and clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and big and the outdoor area had two lovely big chairs and a table for the exquisite breakfast. The owners were kind, welcoming and were so knowledgeable about the area and happy to provide a Tuk Tuk service. Only a short walk to the beach!

NetherlandsAll was perfect
The local breakfast is outstanding. And you can have it while you’re enjoying the beautiful garden, full of birds and an occasional monkey. The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. The empty, turtle beach of Rekawa is on a waling distance and the best local restaurant is just 100 meters away. This is a very good choice, very nicely prized too, and you’ll have a brand new ro too!

United StatesCharming and peaceful. My wife and I visited this lovely place to watch the turtles lay their eggs and enjoy the ambience. The cabana is a beautiful new design and very clean. Located in a private and serene area bordering an open paddy field where we saw peacocks and many other birds. The food was amazing, delicious, and great value. They had fresh caught seafood and quite a few different vegetable curries. Very short walk to both the Turtle Beach and the Harbor Beach for swimming. Wasantha and his daughter were so kind to us. Wasantha works for many years with the turtle project, a true expert on the history of turtles in this area. We would love to visit again!

Czech RepublicEverything was alright.
The accommodation was absolutely fantastic. We had a small house to ourselves with a garden and a sunbed. The owners are very friendly and nice. You won't get such breakfasts as here anywhere else, excellent. The owner drove us in a tutuk within 1 km for free. He also took us to Turtle night watch Rekawa, when the turtles lay their eggs on the beach. The owners speak English and will arrange everything you need! We became friends!

FinlandThe nearest small shops were 3 kilometers away.
The owner is friendly and helpful. A quiet little house in the middle of the forest with a room and a bathroom. Neat. Air conditioning. Good breakfast. You could buy water and soda on the spot if necessary. The best part of our stay was when the owner and I got to watch turtles lay their eggs in the dark under the light of the full moon. The beach was a short walk away. The beach was clean and long. Only a few tourists. The place was a small village. A few good restaurants nearby. Warm recommendation for this place.

New ZealandThere wasn't hot water in the shower, the weather is warm but I still prefer a warm shower. While the room was cool & dark during the day it was quite light at night.
The location was great and exactly where I wanted to be. The hosts were wonderful and provided great breakfasts, with the added entertainment of wild animals wandering into the garden. Air con worked well.
