We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

United KingdomWe had a lovely time staying at Turtle Watch Cabana. Our room was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed our breakfasts cooked by Asanka and his wife every morning and enjoyed the one dinner we ate there. Asanka was very helpful and kind. He took us to a local turtle beach, organised kayaking on the lagoon and to top it off took us to see turtles nesting. We had an incredible experience staying here and would recommend it to anyone!! The beaches nearby are breathtaking, the cabanas are set in an amazing location.

SlovakiaEverything was just perfect for us.
Our stay at this amazing place, in a beautiful and really clean cabana near Rekawa beach was simply unforgettable! We traveled as a family with teen children, and from the very first moment, we felt like part of the local family. The hosts Asanka and his wife Ridmi were incredibly friendly, caring, and always willing to help with anything we needed. The atmosphere was so warm and authentic, making us feel like we were visiting relatives rather than staying at accommodation. My children quickly made new friends, especially with their son Premu who spent time with us and showed us so many local things. He is such a free spirit and we all miss him a lot 🫶. We enjoyed the peace, beautiful jungle garden and delicious homemade food so much that we prolonged our 2 night stay for another night and after our check out and moving to another beach accomodation along the coast we had decided we wanted to spend our last two nights at our cabana again and we had come back again 🙈. Asanka was there for us willing to help at any time and Ridmi makes these beautiful sarongs 🪡. If you're looking for a quiet place where you’ll feel at home, surrounded by wonderful people and genuine Sri Lankan hospitality, this is the perfect choice! The beautiful beach is cca 5 minutes walk, with nearly no tourists, you can either enjoy waves or a natural rock pool. Thank you for the amazing memories – we will definitely be back! 🫶🇱🇰

AustraliaGreat location away from the hustle and bustle. Breakfast was great and very friendly hosts. We had some animal trying to eat inside the roof one night which was noisy but only lasted a little time and apart from that slept great. Great restaurants and beaches within walking distance

United KingdomLovely huts with full of character Very clean, comfy beds, Nicely maintained gardens. Short walk to lovely beach. Owner took us on a night time hike to watch the turtles laying their eggs. So pleased that he was conscious of not disturbing them. No phone lights allowed only the red light he had for us to see them. And keeping a respectful distance. What an amazing experience. Thank you.

United KingdomBeautiful setting. The owner has taken great care to create a natural environment. It’s very peaceful & relaxing. The room was practical, clean & spacious. Great to have a fridge & kettle (bring your own tea bags). Near stunning beaches with nice little eating/drinking places. Watch the turtles being tossed in the surf. Our favourite place so far in our trip. Asanka was extremely helpful in arranging kayak hire for the lagoon & turtle viewings etc. If you like to be away from the hustle & bustle choose Rekawa & Turtle Watch Cabana. Try out La Sera for delicious authentic food.

Lovely rustic cabana in the garden of owners house. Very comfortable bed. Wonderful location with stunning beach 5 minutes walk away. Beautiful lagoons nearby if you like bird watching. Several restaurants within 5-15 minutes walk. Not that you need them as lovely home cooked dinners are available on request. For me, best bit was being taken by Asanka to see turtles. In fact one night he took me out twice as he knew I was so keen to see them. Saw Green and Olive Ridley turtles laying eggs, whilst there were fireflies in the palm trees. Wow ! Unforgettable experience. Highlight of my 5 week Sri Lanka trip. Thank you so much Asanka.

PolandA very comfortable and well-furnished room located in a beautiful garden. The owners kindly agreed to wash our clothes free of charge. There is also the opportunity to join a guided walk to a nearby reserve, where turtles lay their eggs—a truly unique and unforgettable experience. The best pancakes with banana on the breakfast!!! 🥞

AustraliaThe property is very remote, which didn’t bother us. But due to the season, there were no other restaurants or bars nearby. It didn’t bother us- but just something to keep in mind.
This properly gave us an amazing recharge after the chaos of Arugam bay. It is remote, serene and quiet. We felt immersed in nature- which is exactly what was needed! The rooms are spacious and clean. Asanka and his gorgeous wife and son were the most amazing hosts. Food was brilliant! Asanka took us turtle watching, but unfortunately due to an unwell son, we couldn’t stick it out. This is a special property run by a special family. We will not forget this stay.

ItalyWe stayed initially one night and the staff (Asanka and his beautiful family) have been really good from the beginning. The rooms (cabanas) are amazing, clean, big and rustic. Then we left for a place in Galle, planning to stay there for 4 nights. Terrible mistake, we decided to come back to Asanka and stay here for additional 3 nights. In so few time I can say that Asanka and his wife are now friends for us. Best human experience in Sri Lanka during our holiday. We also had the chance to see turtles ALL ALONE and without any other tourist, thanks to Asanka that the very first night brought us to live this extraordinary experience. A place where we left our hearts and souls and where we truly hope to come back one day. Do yourself a favour and give Asanka the possibility to became your friend! P.s. breakfast pancakes and fruits are AMAZING. Dinner is something extraordinary too!

IndiaStayed here for a couple of nights and absolutely loved our experience at Turtle Watch Cabana. It's a lovely property away from the crowds, nestled in nature while also offering a very comfortable stay with beautiful cabanas. The beach is a quick 5-minute walk from the property, and it's free of tourists and crowds. The host Asanka took us to the beach at night to watch a giant turtle lay eggs. This was the highlight of our trip and an unbeatable experience. We were treated to great breakfasts and meals. Cannot recommend this stay enough if you want to spend some quiet time in nature and bliss.

United StatesNothing, we loved it. The cabanas are even cuter than the photos.
All of the cabins had air conditioning which we were super happy about and the included breakfast was wonderful including a mountain of fruit in addition to other wonderful items that changed daily! The optional dinner for 2500 was equally delicious a with big portions. There are also a few great restraints/bars within an easy walk. Probably for many the highlight will be watching the turtles, the host knows exactly where they are and then are laying eggs due to his network of turtle watchers!

GermanyThis place is so remote and peaceful! You can hear the sound of rolling waves, birds and other animals. No beach bars and human sound around. The beautiful cabanas are well hidden under shady trees. The room was spacious the bathroom has an open shower. We, that’s me and my two young daughters, were the only guests. The host took us to the turtle beach at night where we spend some hours spotting two huge greenback turtles digging holes and disposing their eggs. This was a unique beautiful experience. We were all alone there. He works for the conservation center as an official guide. Groups consist of dozens of people normally. Finally the dinner (classical Sri Lankan rice and curry) and breakfast were delicious. Kids loved it. I would definitely recommend this place.
