There was nothing bad about the place but I would suggest to take AC dorms as it could be quite hot during the day

The location was amazing, just 10 min away from the hostel. The host and all the guests were amazing, we all went for surfing in the morning and host makes sure of planning social events which I loved. Would recommend everyone to stay! ❤️ I could not stay there longer as I had to meet my friends in Mirissa otherwise would have stayed there longer.

Facilities are basic but functional

The hostel is tucked away from the busy street, but close to everything. The facilities are basic but the atmosphere is amazing. Mahesh, the manager and the volunteers will make you feel right at home. If you are looking for a fun community on the South coast, this is a solid pick!

Manesh is the best hostel owner!! He is so kind and organised so many activities- mostly not drinking focused which was amazing- surfing, cycling, ice bath, movie night, family dinner…! There is a real family feel to the hostels, the rooms are a good size, AC good and has all the facilities you need! I would highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun time in Weligama

Seriously the best place If you’re looking for a low key group of friends. The owner organized surf outing in the day, movie nights or some parties at other places. Also had a group chat for everyone and orders food family style often. Super cool chill vibes definitely recommend

Spent 4 nights here and will hopefully be back! Good place to have a quiet but social time, the owner is a young cool guy, no stress at wake up weligama. Little kitchen, great location.

I absolutely adored Wake Up Weligama, Mahesh (the host) made sure everything ran smoothly and was brilliant at bringing everyone together, as well as being an absolutely amazing person. One of my favourite hostels so much so that kept coming back to Weligama for it!

A very social hostel with a great atmosphere. The manager is funny and adorable and does everything to make us feel at ease. He gives us tips on things to do in the area and takes us to the surf spot (5 min by walk) every morning, where we can take a lesson or simply rent boards. The bathrooms and dorms are clean, with mosquito nets and fans above each bed. Every evening there's an organized activity or party ! Best place in Welligama !

It is a back to basics hostel, so no AC but there’s fans.

The best place to stay if you’re seeking a family and community with Mahesh the owner and other travellers. The hostel is small so it is easy to make friends with everyone. Mahesh and the volunteers organise events and trips everyday. Kitchen area and fridge to store food. Friendly dogs :)

Wake Up Hostel was my favourite Hostel in Sri Lanka so far. The social vibe is great and you can easily get to know new people. There is social activities every day, the location is 5 minutes from the beach and it's a bit off of the main road so you don't here the traffic. In addition the Host is super cool and takes part in most hostel activities. The dorm room was spacy, clean and there was a wooden Box to store your important stuff. If you want to to experience something you should definitely go here.

Really nice vibe! We had a double private room which was pretty comfortable with a big fan and a bit far from the dorms and the common area! Which is good if you want to relax but you are not so included in the group of the rest of the travellers! However the host providing information of everything about food and events around Shiah is really nice.

The owner mahesh is a fantastic person always coming up with various different activities for people to join. The general vibe was heart warming, the chillout area is nice and cozy and the people staying there were fantastic. Booked for a few nights but ended up staying for almost two weeks. Can recommend this place for all the nice people out there!

We had a very nice stay. The bedroom was very wide, bright and clean! The mattress was very comfortable and very big, we slept very well. The room and the area around were very quiet. The staff were very kind and helpful!

This was one of my best experiences in Sri Lanka. I think that accommodation here is ideal for everyone, especially solo travelers who want to meet people on the same page. The owner of the hostel, Mahesh, is a hard working nice guy who helped me with everything I needed. I loved that we’ve spent a lot of time together with the other guests. We were surfing, going for breakfasts, ice bathing, partying, just chilling and enjoying together. This place really made me feel like i am part of a wakeup family! The chill zone upstairs of the hostel was my favourite place to be and to hang out. I will surely come back one day when I’m in Sri lanka.
