Was a big part in our enjoyment of Tangier, a comfortable and quiet place to rest and relax

A little tricky to find the first time.

The staff were great. On our arrival Isam gave us a tour of the hotel and encouraged us to make use of the rooftop and other general areas. Despite being close to a mosque the room was largely noise proof. Breakfasts were good, particularly the Moroccan pancakes, served freshly made.

Hotel is decent, but the area surrounding it is an acquired taste

Nothing to do with the hotel, but the incessant hassle I encountered when walking round the area - "Taxi? Taxi? You want smoke? Hashish? Sim card? You want change money? No, that way is closed, which hotel you stay at? You go wrong way, I show you way, only three Euros!" etc. etc - got old very quickly. I'm sure some people find it very colourful, but I found being followed down the street and harassed for money by a seemingly endless series of aggressive men in baseball caps to be utterly wearisome. Far more frequent and intrusive than I had anticipated.

Hotel is very characterful, in the heart of the Medina, with an enjoyable two-tier terrace on the rooftop with great views across the city. Room was cool and spacious, with relaxing chaise longues and a comfy bed, shower was spacious and powerful. Breakfast was okay, enjoyed the mint tea.

We were very touched by hospitality. When we came the host offered us tea and sweets while we waited to be checked in. After that we had a tour of the hotel and a great roof top view. The hotel has a very Moroccan style and I definitely recommend to stay to get a feel of Morocco. In the morning we had a very tasty breakfast. It was plenty to keep us going all day. I also want to mention a location which is about 5 minute walk from a port, which is super convenient if you travel from Spain.

I have only two suggestions: 1 - the Riad is very difficult to find and data connection is unreliable in the old Medina. They should offer to meet guests at one of the nearby gates 2 - Do not disturb door hangers should be available for guests who do not need daily maid service

Large water bottle upon arrival, flexibility of paying by credit card, exceptional breakfast, excellent location, stellar condition of accommodation, polite and helpful staff.

It’s important that visitors realise that the ramshackle little lane leading to the hotel is no indication of the hotel itself.

Both the young men on reception were outstandingly kind and helpful. Ahmed even got up early to see that we got 5.15 am taxi. The hotel is very clean and. nicely decorated with many colourful traditional touches. The shower was really good too, and the beds comfortable. Location also excellent, right in the Medina.

The only downside to this charming place is getting to it - a tough walk uphill from where a taxi can leave you off, a bit hard to find.

Very clean and welcoming. Right in the middle of the medina. Friendly staff, comfortable room at a very good price. Nice breakfast with a good variety of choices.

We were in a room under the terrace, which meant hearing people walk and scooting chairs at all hours. It would be nice if they closed the terrace at midnight or so…

As soon as you walk in staff welcomes you with Moroccan tea before checking in. Friendliest helpful staff particularly Issam and Ahmed. They care about their guests. Charming hotel; each room has its unique character. Roof terraces with fantastic views. Amazing western and Moroccan breakfast with hands on staff. Don’t miss their restaurant a few blocks away that could be charged to your room.

There were no complaints about anything.

Dar Rif is a charming little riad inside the Medina. The decor is lovely and it’s newly renovated. Our reception was so warm and welcoming, giving us a tour of the many roof top terraces that look out on the sea.

The door is not sealed so we can hear people talking outside. But I guess that’s for airing. Not a big problem because everyone is quiet and polite.
