Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesTwo small things - the shower was tiny and my boyfriend couldn’t really fit in it, water went everywhere when he showered. Think that’s part of staying in an old building though - it can’t really be changed. Also the A/C unit leaked badly during the night, it’s in the closet and the hangers and our suitcases were soaked. We didn’t use it the other two nights, luckily it was cool enough that we didn’t really need it.
Beautiful riad in the kasbah, gorgeous decor, breakfast was amazing and served on the rooftop terrace outside our room, with a view of the Tangier bay by day, and city lights at night. Staff were very friendly, room very clean, loved our stay!

United KingdomThe birds in very small cage - they should be free to fly and not caged. I don't like to see that.
I liked the easy access from the riad into the town, yet it is peaceful and beautiful is its position inside the Kasbah alleys. I liked the beautiful traditional interior. I liked the breakfast and variety on offer. I liked the roof garden - it was a beautiful oasis. The staff were friendly and helpful.

United StatesIf you are used to American style bathrooms, the latticed walls separating the bedroom from the bathroom in might cause some privacy concerns, but otherwise the accommodations were spacious and comfortable and we had no complaints.
We were only in Tangier for one night, but our stay at Dar Sultan was wonderful. The private terrace was incredible and the staff could not have been more gracious. If we ever find ourselves in Tangier in the future we definitely consider Dar Sultan again.

United StatesAvoid any association with Karma Pateo who waits at the taxi drops off for the Dar Sultan & claims to work for them. We hired him as our guide for the afternoon, asking to go to the marketplace to buy shoes & A wallet. Instead he took us to a Berber rug store where the owner pulled out 20 rugs of the thousands in the huge building. We did not need or want a rug. Next he took us to an herbalist who sold us very expensive spices which we later found out are available for 2/3's of the price all over the city. Finally to a scarf store where we bought a couple just to get out of there. We told Karin we hadn't eaten all day so he finally took us to a restaurant which appeared to be closed & the owner chose a meal for us which was actually very good, but again no choice. We told Karin we wanted to go back to our room & he finally showed us the way back. This was our introduction to Tangier which is full of confusing streets on first glance. A day wasted!
We loved Dar Sultan! The owner & staff were very friendly & helpful. Ismail & Yasmine were very good & always paid extra attention to our needs. The included breakfast was excellent & consisted of several delicious courses & coffee. The decor was charming & we enjoyed our stay;

AustraliaWe absolutely loved our stay at Dar Sultan. The kindest, friendliest staff, who went out of their way to make us feel at home and look after us. Such a beautiful property too! If you want to stay in the Kasbah, and get a feel for Old Tangier then this is the place to stay. Stunningly beautiful and quirky. Couldn't recommend it highly enough!

Super lovely and attentive staff, delicious breakfast, and great location. The rooms were beautiful — there were flower petals and Moroccan black soap in our bathroom.

United StatesThe shower was very cramped and the shower floor felt like there were either loose tiles or grout. The room was quite small, but we knew to expect that and understood that the hotel is in a remodeled 300 year old building.
Wonderful staff, excellent recommendations, amazing breakfast, fascinating interiors, and gorgeous private outdoor patio off our room. I highly recommend Dar Sultan.

United StatesBe aware as this is in the part of the old city where you cannot drive to. It is a short two minute walk if you get a taxi from where you get dropped off to the hotel, if the taxi knows the right place. If not it is a five minute walk straight up the hill!
This indeed is a very old house in the Casbah of the Medina - the oldest part of the town. They have transformed it into what we would call in the US a bed and breakfast. The decorations are awesome with little things to look at all around. There were many people that worked there and they were so helpful and concerned about our every need. When we arrived all tired from the trip they immediately offered us tea on the roof deck and that was so comforting.

Great Hospitality. The friendly staff let us feel at home. With supporting , guiding and advising about the city and the Medina. Yassin, Ismail and all the other staff were very kind and helpful to us. With a fantastic Moroccan breakfast, on an excellent location in the middle of the old Medina, a charming and romantic room, and an amazing roofterrace. The riad is very beautiful and colourful decorated. All the interior and decoration is very detailed. We loved our stay in dar Sultan and will definitely come back to this place. Thank you for a magical stay in your riad!

United StatesThe rooms and showers are small. There are several flights of narrow steps to get to most rooms, however, the staff is more than willing to carry up your luggage. Limited English is spoken but it’s not a barrier.
Staff is awesome, breakfast was amazing. The Charf suite is a rooftop with views of the Strait and a private terrace. Location is perfect for walking the Medina.
