We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

BelgiumThis was a truly wonderful experience. I only wish I could offer a score higher than 10/10. The setting is beautiful, overlooking a palm grove near the river. The building has been renovated to accommodate a few guests. Don't expect a 5-star hotel, but it is quite comfortable. Wifi worked well and bathrooms were modern with ample hot water. Most important though is that Mustapha is a wonderful host. He is so welcoming and so happy to share his culture with you. The food was amazing. And on one evenig Mustapha played traditional music for us which was a treat. Truly one of the best experiences I've had in all my travels around the world.

United KingdomA renovated building in an otherwise abandoned kasbah. Very comfortable accommodation and our family room had a terrace with an amazing view over the date trees and mountain backdrop. The host was very friendly and the food was very tasty and generous. Would highly recommend.

South AfricaLoved all of it.
Kasbah Maktob is enchanting, like staying in a comfortable museum full of Berber artifacts; one is surrounded by Amazigh culture. Also provided by wonderful host Mustapha, a sculptor and musician who will play and sing after supper on the traditional gimbri, the Moroccan bass. We stayed in the top room, the family room, spacious with an incredible view from its balcony out over the palm oasis. Kasbah Tamnougalt is my favourite in Morocco, and Kasbah Maktob sits within its ancient walls. Mustapha is also a fabulous cook, so meals were delicious. One of my favourite places to stay in Morocco -- don't miss Tamnougalt and the Agdz area. Beautiful.

United KingdomWe stayed with Mustafa for one night at his place in the beautiful village of Tamnougalt. The people in the village were lovely from the moment we arrived. We parked our car in the main square, and from there it was just a short 2–3 minute walk to Mustafa’s home. His place is beautifully decorated, and I believe it was the most genuine place we stayed during our one-week trip around the country. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable. We had our own bathroom because we were the only guests that night, but I believe it is usually shared. Mustafa has a beautiful terrace with a lovely view over the garden. We enjoyed a peaceful walk around the village and through the garden behind his house in the evening. But the most important part: Mustafa himself is an incredible host. He is warm, kind, and welcoming. He prepared dinner for us on very short notice, and it was the best tagine we had in Morocco, along with an amazing yogurt dessert. His breakfast and coffee were also excellent and completed our stay perfectly. If you’re traveling in the area, or taking the route from Marrakesh to Merzouga like we did, it’s absolutely worth making a small detour to spend the night here. We would definitely come back if we ever visit Morocco again. Thank you, Mustafa, for making our trip truly memorable!

United KingdomKasbah Maktob is a very special place so finding the words to do it justice will be difficult. I will not repeat here what others have captured so well regarding the design except to say that everwhere feels like a reflection of Mustafa's spirit and has a magical energy; no wonder the birds fly so freely in and out. You feel peace and tranquility descending into your soul the moment that you set foot inside and it was difficult to choose where to sit to enjoy the atmosphere and views. The roof top terrace has spectacular views of the mountains and the surrounding Kasbahs and we could not have asked for a better start to the day eating breakfast in the sunshine overlooking the palm grove. We loved the bedroom and all the touches that left us feeling deeply immersed in a timeless Morocco. Exploring the palm grove was a joy, we had some unforgettable hours absorbing its natural rhythms and beauty. It was also good to stop and chat to the neighbours, we met some inspirational people during our stay. We also ate incredibly well here, Mustafa is a very generous and caring host. I'm so glad that when I was planning our journey I chose longer to stay in this area; I just had a gut feeling it was right for us and it did prove to be the highlight of our stay. If you were a lone female traveller you would feel safe here. I wish I could send my trauma patients to stay here; I know that Kasbah Maktob would heal them far better than any medications or psychological interventions. Sometimes in life you have such experiences and long in your heart to return but a part of you knows you never will, that you may carry the memory intact within you forever and in this way, you never really leave.

United KingdomThe village/kasbah of Tamnougalt is exceedingly beautiful and so worth an overnight visit. Mustaphah, the owner of Kasbah Maktob is very friendly and helpful. He has done a superb job at restoring the Kadbah to a beautiful and quite stylish place to stay. The dinner was also delicious! We highly recommend staying here.

PortugalBy far, my favorite place I visited in morroco. It's quiet, removed, and everything I was looking for. Mustapha has rebuilt this broken down Kasbah into a beautiful authentic style guest house full of warm hospitality and a taste of beber culture. He is a gentleman, an artist, musician, chef and a beautiful respectful host.

JapanCandle lights at the terrace for dinner would have made the experience top notch. We would have preferred to have warm-yellow light than cool-blueish LED light in the sleeping room.
We liked the uniqueness of staying at a small 17th century Kasbah. There was only one other guest...it was very quiet. The Kasbah was amongst the ruin of other numerous Kasbah, with the view to the amazing layers of rock mountains. We loved the view, the host Mustafa's friendly, attentive service and cooking. The private terrace we had was cozy, perfect for calming down and reading books.

MalaysiaIncredible experience! Most of the kasbah (fortress) were in ruins and abandoned, except for a few guesthouses and families staying here. Yet in such an abandoned place, you get a beautiful, traditional room with AC and comfortable beds. Shared bathroom with hot shower. Mustafa the owner was so lovely and welcoming, he did such an amazing job with the property. It’s a much more quiet Kasbah than the very touristic Ait Ben Haddou, but no less impressive in our opinion.

NetherlandsThe inn is small with only 4 rooms and therefore the choice for shared bathrooms is a logical one. However, we would have liked our own.
Kasbah Maktob is a small inn in a stunning location inside the old kasbah and is beautifully decorated. We had a very nice terrace connected to our room. The owner is a really good host making our stay and the dinner a real pleasure.

United KingdomNothing - everything was amazing!
As soon as you walk in, you absorbed in history as well as Mustafa’s artistic skills (just ask him about all his work he did to design it). Stepping out on to the balcony you immediately feel at peace and relaxed. Spending time exploring the valley Kasbahs, walking through the palm groves, is just phenomenal. Mustafa also provided us with local knowledge of other places to visit (already planning our next trip!) thank you Mustafa for such an incredible experience!

CanadaTravelers should be warned that it is a fairly long walk from where cars must park. We had help with our bags but anyone with limited mobility would struggle. We were the only people staying on our floor but, if the other room had been occupied, we would have been sharing a bathroom.
The dar is located in an almost abandoned ancient ksar - a fortified berber village. It is owned and run by Mustapha, who restored the place himself. For a slice of Morocco, it can't be beat. Our room had a spacious terrace looking out over the palm grove, and the dinner and breakfast were both great.
