Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Very nice open space hostel in a perfect position close to everything basically,with 2 terraces, many showers (very hot👍) and bathrooms good breakfast clean place good people good vibes ! top for me highly recommend

The hostel has good facilities, many showers and toilets, it offers breakfast, the location is in Kasbah - a nice area with less hassle than Medina and still close to the main square, the staff is friendly.

Decent dorms and great location. It's on many levels, with the top floors conducive to chilling out and chatting with other people. Helpful staff and the breakfasts are very good value. Would stay again.

Nice staff, friendly and helpful with local tips. Good location. It's a nice place for backpackers who are traveling around the country. The area is safe also at night (I went in November so it was low season)

Everything was great about my stay!
The property is located in a great place. It is in the heart of the old city, a stone’s throw from Jamaa el Fnaa (The Market Square). It is a clean and big riad with a great social space to meet likeminded travellers from around the world. The staff are amazing, kind and helpful. They are willing to go the extra mile to help people and are always giving the best service. I would like to give a special thank you to Abdul, Adil and Fahd for making my stay in Red Castel a pleasurable stay. I hope to come back and visit again in the near future.

wifi could sometimes be better;)
helpful and lovely staff that helped me with every issue or question! good breakfast, loved the patios, good location with nice places to eat around, it’s nice that you can plan your excursions from the hostel and they pick you up which was surprisingly cheap as well. loved my stay will come back very soon, thanks a lot.

There is nothing to dislike.
I had stayed here previously and everything was as before. Professionally run hostel with the cheapest day trips I could find. There is a fridge available for residents which was greatly appreciated. Plenty of toilets and showers and power points. You can order meals in advance.

Like everywhere in the Kasbah you have to find the place.
The staff were great. Organized a tour for me. Facilities were good. Lots of toilets and showers. Hot water was great. My bunk was very comfortable. There is a refrigerator for guest use. For the price the "Red Shed" is great value. Cheap food and drink available on site which is a bonus.

We wished there was no curfew, but we made it work.
The location was great and gave us opportunities to explore more of Marrakech, not just the square. The service was fantastic and the staff was very helpful. Fahd was great! There were 14 of us and we were all treated properly and helped when needed.
