Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

VietnamBathroom is small. There was no socket at my bed, so I had to use the socket at another bed to charge my phone.
Location, nice common areas.

AustriaThe shower is either a few drops of cold water or a 10bar stream of boiling water with no in between. I don't think it's a Riad, there's no garden.
I mean it was 7€ for 2 nights so you really can't complain. You get a shower and a bed and it's clean. I had a good night's sleep. There's even a rooftop for people to chill at.

RomaniaFor this money, 3 euros per night, I didn't expect much, hot water, hard to find but the guy from the hostel gave us his location and was easily after that. I mean, you definitely can complain a lot but it's extremely cheap so if you look to crush somewhere, extra cheap and you just want a hot shower, that is the place, if you expect a bit more, book some more expensive hostels.

United KingdomThe showers were a little strange but it didn't detract from my stay. Hot water, so perfectly usable. And I got a towel which some other places haven't lent me
The staff were very helpful. He even came to collect me from another accommodation as I went to the wrong one. It's just off the main shopping street near the blue gate so easy to find once you know where it is No bunk beds in my room a very comfy bed. A good roof terrace and there's a kettle as well which I do need. Decor is lovely too.

PolandNo lockers. Although, I didn't have any problems finding the hostel, with 45 years of worldwide adventure backpacking experience, some travelers were hooked up with local guides that demanded money after bringing them to a hostel. Medina is a maze with many guest houses, so signs can be confusing
A nice roof top patio with a great view of Medina, plenty of common well decorated rooms. Single beds, not bunk beds, that were well spaced. Good bedding and with every day room service. The cleaning lady was very hard working, too hard working, and nice.

Czech RepublicSo I went up the second floor to use the bathroom/toilet there, quite small but at least cleaner and drier, although the water is pretty small from the handwash tap. Finally bedtime. Emm, the bedsheet had stains…I felt a bit sick and thought of leaving the next day. With 2 hours’ time difference with CET, I got up super early. I was a bit worried about what to do till the said breakfast time (9:30), so I went to the terrace to get some fresh air. Again wifi was not working and mobile data was running slowly and on-and-off. The hosts (Aziza and Mustafa) saw that I was already up and brought breakfast for me. Thank you very much! And some sweets after breakfast:p They were so lovely and I felt like family. So I gave up the idea of finding another accommodation and decided to stay another night as planned. Long story short, in the morning I left, Aziza took me to a taxi and helped me communicate with the driver, so everything went smoothly. On my way I was struggling what score I should leave in the review, because obviously the basic hygiene and facilities are missing but the hosts were so nice. However this is not the end of the story. I read other reviews for this hostel and the good reviews seem like to talk about something that I totally don’t know. For example, it was another host who managed the place during their stay… I started to doubt what really happened. Then, booking.com sent me a notification: thank you for your review. Wait, I have not written anything yet! THE REVIEW UNDER MY NAME WAS NOT WRITTEN BY ME!!! It was written in very casual Czech and rated THE hostel a score of 10. I guess it’s from some system automatically because my location is “the Czech republic”. Now I am not happy, either my account got hacked, or the hostel is using something illegal, right? I want to edit this fake review so I got a screenshot to show it below. I have made a complaint to booking.com and am now waiting for the reply.
I found this hostel on booking with a high score and good reviews. I booked it, but I couldn't find it on google maps- neither by name nor by address. I contacted the hostel for a precise location on google maps. I got a location which says " fes hostel home". I didn't think too much, from a trust of booking.com I guess. I arrived in Fes medina in the evening. As you could imagine, google maps led me in a wrong way. I asked someone for the correct direction, but a kid/teenager overheard our conversation and started to follow me and offered to lead me to the hostel, I walked my way, not saying yes nor no to him. After 1min walking in dark narrow alley, I was in front of the correct door, the kid/teenager asked me for money. Being quite tired and frankly speaking also a bit of nervous, I gave him 5 MAD and he was quite disappointed and said something I didn't understand. The owner of the hostel opened the door and the kid/teenager left. I was welcomed in the hostel. With the help of translator( since I don't speak French/Arabic, and the hosts don't speak English/Spanish) , I finished the checked-in. To be fair, I got a roll of toilet paper for free, which I never got from other hostels. I witnessed the hosts helped another guest book a taxi for the next early morning. I showed them my appreciation and they said (jokingly) : make yourself at home and give us a 10 points afterwards. I said sure. ( Remember this. ) Feeling so lucky, I went upstairs to my room. Then came the problems. In the common area of the first floor, wifi doesn't work. In the room, even my mobile data stops working ( I had an e-sim, so maybe a local sim would work better, I am not sure). There is a bathroom/toilet on the first floor, full of water on the floor and on the toilet seat, and on the floor there is something like someone spit…The water taps from the shower and the handwash are leaking all the time.

United KingdomWe booked a private room with private bathroom. Everything was absolutely filthy. The toilet had pubic hair and urine all over it, there was hair in the sink and the shower, mould all over the bathroom. The bathroom door was jammed open. The sheets had not been changed, there were stains all over. The carpet was vomit worthy - there is no way they have vacuumed this room in MONTHS. I am not usually fussy, especially when booking budget accomodation. However there are some extremely basic needs which were not met. We lasted one hour here before making our way to new accommodation. It truely is appalling that they can charge people to stay here. We messaged the host and they said they can put us in another room instead of offering a refund, but why would we want to stay in another room knowing how filthy the current room was. I truely believe all of these 'good' reviews are FAKE. There is no way that this place even deserves a one star booking. Do not be tempted by the cheap price, there is much much much better out there. We ended up staying at Riad Fes Unique which was just a three minute walk away and so much better, much more comfortable.

God , I should know her name by now. The sweetest woman. She offered me to stay at her house one night when I accidentally didn't book. Yassir said I could sleep in the lobby. They're good people here. And that's all that matters.

ItalyThe blanket I received was a bit stinky. I notified it to Yassir and I hope he will take care of it for the next guests.
My stay in the hostel was really good. The hostel is located in the heart of Fes el Bali (Madina) and close to all major attractions by walking distance. I had a late check in and the receptionist Yassir helped me with that. Yassir was very friendly and always available and ready to help person. The dormitory room I stayed in was spacious and with a toilet attached to the room. There is also a roof top and common area on the last floor of the building. For the price they offered me, it was a great stay and I will surely recommend it. Note: The hostel is located in Medina with so many narrow roads with shops packed around and like a network. This is the case not only for this hostel but for all accommodations there. The Google map doesn't function well there. You really need to follow the directions from the hostel otherwise, you could get lost roaming around even an hour unless someone from the hostel comes to pick you. That happened to me at midnight 2 am and finally Yassir came to pick me up. If you arrive with Taxi to the blue gate (Bab Bou Jeloud gate), I share you the photos to identify the places where you need to take turns.
