Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

We did a tour with Danistas and it was unfortunately disappointing. The guide was clearly not a professional and struggled with basic tasks. For instance, when we asked about Wi-Fi availability at hotels, she would say there wasn’t any without confirming with the staff. Using a translation app, we often found out that Wi-Fi was indeed available. This happened repeatedly with various issues, giving the impression she was uninterested in her job. At times, she even made fun of us, and once, without reason, she yelled at us before apologizing. We were just two people on the tour, hoping for some flexibility in the itinerary, but this wasn't accommodated. The itinerary changed frequently without clear explanations. Instead, she often tried to cover up changes with obvious excuses. The tour had the overall feeling of “let’s just get this done” rather than providing an enjoyable experience. Although we saw a lot of Mongolia, the poor experience with the guide made it feel unworthy of the price. Unfortunately, to quote the guide „you‘ ve booked the cheapest tour in Mongolia!“
Very good value for money. Nice room with bathroom and very friendly, always helpful staff.

I also stayed in the dorms - while extremely spacious with plenty of room to lay out belongings and very clean bathrooms, the mattresses were a bit on the thin side.
The twin room with private bathroom is very comfortable.The staff was also very attentive and answered all my questions respectfully, such as helping us to arrange airport transfer at 3am in the morning

Central heating was not operating in the beginning of October so it was cold inside
Small cozy place to stay while exploring Ulaanbaatar, nice staff and endless supply of hot tea. Walking distance from central square not bad and plenty of shops and restaurants next to it. Very affordable!

More frequent maintenance checks at the toilet is recommended. The water closet in our room was continuously flushing out water because the toilet flush button sometimes gets stuck so we need to close the valve after using to prevent wasting water.
The staff can communicate well in English and were responsive to my queries/ messages in the booking dot com portal. We are a group of 3 and we also booked our 9 days Gobi and Central Mongolia tour with them. We're very pleased with the tour as well.

Everything was according to the description. My girlfriend and I had a really nice experience at this hostel. We did the day trip, visiting three locations (Monastery, Genghis Khan Statue and Turtle Rock) and we were really happy in the end. The guys from the reception were faboulous! Great price for what you get. Good location, close to a monastery and not far from the main square. The staff is very friendly, flexible and helpful! They also offer good tours.

The only con is that it's a bit of a walk from the downtown area (20 minutes from the State Dept Store, 40 minutes from the square).
The staff at Danista are very friendly and helpful, especially Mr. Amghaa! It's a nice option if you want a clean, budget-friendly place to stay in UB. It's also easy to join one of their many tours.

Was told we needed to pay in cash for the tour so paid the fees to take the cash out and do exchanges, but then found out the exchange place they go to is VERY picky on bills being absolutely crisp and perfect. Would've liked to know ahead of time we could pay in credit card.
Only stayed for one night, but staff was nice and room was just what I needed with lots of space. Appreciated that they made breakfast for me to take to the airport the next day since I was leaving so early. Also booked a tour literally the night before with them (when my other one fell through) which they so kindly accommodated and gave the best price in town. Tour was great.

I know this place since 2014.. I know the Owner very well, he is very helpful in every occasion, and he will always try to do the best for you. The rooms are good, Mattress very good. He organizes Pickup from Airport in the early morning . Thanks and see you next time. Wifi ist good.
