The hostess does not speak English despite it is mentioned in the Booking ad so it was difficult to find this accommodation. There is no sign or any other evidence that you have arrived to the right place.

Internet connection is stable and fast.

It would have been practical to share the information necessary for self check-in via text message too - sometimes people come and do not have functioning mobile data for some reason. Luckily the wifi was working and without password when I arrived at night so I was able to connect and find the information about which room is mine and where to find keys. Unfortunately the next morning the electricity was out due to repairs when I came back from breakfast and so I was unable to charge my phone and look up the journey before driving further, which was a big minus. In the future it is better to do necessary repairs after everybody has checked out, and if they are planned, inform people that there won’t be electricity for a few hours so that they can plan ahead.

Coffee capsules were a nice addition.

More honest disclosure would have prepared me better than the glowing reviews at the top of this page. First: this is a small hostel not a B&B. Please call it that. This is a fine hostel but some people are done with hosteling. The photos are out of date. The entrance doesn’t look like the picture, it’s a construction site. There is no “Sea View Room”, the vegetation has grown over. The entrance is unlit at night. It is at the top of a very steep hill, a long and hot walk. I don’t want to disparage the place, it just needs better disclosure.

I stayed in Room M - what the property failed to mention was that there were 2 roosters below my bedroom window that started to crow at 3-30am and continued all night..It was impossible to sleep. They also fail to mention that the other rooms are rented to long term guests who treat the place like their home and leave their things all over the place - in the kitchen, dining area, entrance etc. The front area is a building site not as in the picture. The pinned location is also incorrect.

I was baffled to see a construction site at the front of the property. It looks like the front patio is being remodelled, but should guest be allowed to walk around this site whilst the work is ongoing? The common area is stuffy (needs to be aired) The place needs to be deep cleaned. It’s dusty. The toilet appeared cleaned but it had a smell. The remote control for both air con and TV were sticky. A lot if the surfaces were sticky. I think I would have got ok value for money if all the above were sorted.

The terrace was nice and it was a spacious space. Communication and check-ins were smooth.

The Kapokier is located above San Pierre and has lovely views of the city and the sea. It is easy walking distance from town. The place and rooms are very spacious and well equipped. Despite my poor French I was very well received and they helped me with everything I needed and made sure I was doing fine. Highly recommend this place.

Great value for money. It is clean and comfy. The toilet and the bathroom is shared, but clean and as the hotel isn't that big, thats not a problem. The common area is welcoming and well equipped. The balcony sports a splendid view of Saint Pierre and the sea. The city is a brief but steep walk away.
