Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SerbiaWe are more than happy with the accommodation we had at Duncan Guesthouse. Micheal is an excellent host. The rooms are clean, spacious, sunny and really good value for money. Marsaxlokk is a beautiful fishing port with excellent bus connections to get around Malta, yet very close to the airport. Highly recommended!

United KingdomCouldn’t find fault with anything Very well run
It started with the welcome we received from Michael. Duncan guest house was spotlessly clean everywhere and our room spacious and very comfortable. The terrace off the breakfast room was a delight, somewhere to view picturesque Marsaxlokk and relax in the sun. Breakfast offered a variety of foods to please every taste in a friendly atmosphere, all due to Michael. Thankyou

Perfect accomodation, wonderful service, really good breakfasts, beautiful view from terrace like from Malta advertisement. Michael was really helpful and kind. No problem with late self check-in. Michael even gave us sandwitches instead of last breakfast, as we had early flight back. We were really satisfied, felt like at home and can really recommend.

United KingdomNothing.
Everything was good, all the staff were friendly and helpful, the building and my room were spotless and looked recently decorated, the location was good too, on the village square and by the harbour and within easy walking distance of the cafés and restaurants along the harbour front. The bus stop for the airport bus is very close too, the breakfast room was on the second floor and from the roof terrace you had good views over the village.

PolandIt is not a fancy, designer boutique hotel. It is rather basic and modest. It doesn’t need to be a disadvantage, as it suits perfectly the vibe of the peaceful, unpretentious fishing village of Marsaxlokk.
The best possible location in Marsaxlokk. Balconies and a sun terrace with a view over the harbour are definite assets. Generous breakfast with both buffet and eggs-as-you-like-it options is another reason to choose this place. Last but not least, Michael, the owner, is what gives this guesthouse a 10/10 rate. Friendly, helpful, happy to recommend restaurants or excursions - and he personally takes care of the guests at breakfast.

CanadaOpen shower is not that great because of water pooling, but it is like that in most hotels on Malta. Beds were short and not that wide. This is the biggest downside in the whole experience. Breakfast options are a bit limited.
We went in Feb and Michael has given us all the directions 2 days beforehand which was helpful. We stayed in a spacious clean room, 2 beds, nothing to complain about, has all the things as advertised on Booking.com The parking is public parking on the street, so if you are going during high season it may be hard to find spots, we lucked out and got a space very close to the hotel. Breakfast was great, we did not feel like there was not enough food and we even had staff prepare us fried eggs and bacon. Location is great, right next to all Marxalokk attractions. Highly recommend.

SingaporeMichael is an excellent host who gave us a warm welcome. The guesthouse is conveniently located in the heart of Marsaxlokk and is easily accessible by bus. Michael gave us advise when we checked in and when we checked out. His advise to take bus really helped us, as it was a Sunday and bus do not come to town center. The room was well-maintained, clean, and had comfortable beds. Breakfast was enjoyable, with Michael personally preparing fried eggs and bacon for us. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to try the boat rides. I highly recommend Duncan Guesthouse for a relaxing stay!

United KingdomNot a complaint so much as a suggestion: although there was plenty of choice at breakfast, with a cold buffet as well as the offer of a cooked breakfast, it would have been nice also to have the option to choose more authentic Maltese food, such as fresh bread and local jams, honey, cheese etc.
This was our first time in Malta, and we had a fantastic stay. Duncan Guest House has a great location on the square in Marsaxlokk, right beside the colourful fishing harbour, market and restaurants. Our host could not have been more welcoming, and we really felt at home. The room was spacious and simply but comfortably equipped.
