Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomLovely apartment in great location, yes a bit dated but that added to the charm. Close by to some great bars and restaurants and close to the bus stop to get you back out to the airport and Valeeta for connections across the country. Would stay here again

United KingdomCompletely out of the owner’s control but it was very noisy due to the works being undertaken in the square, just around the corner from the apartment. We had booked specifically to see Candle Fest but found that it was cancelled due to the ongoing work. Once the work is completed, it will be wonderful.
The location is fantastic for everything that Birgu has to offer. Lots of bars and restaurants, a beautiful harbour and marina and just 10 minutes to Valletta by water taxi. Couldn’t have asked for a better location in the heart of the town.

NetherlandsConstruction work started early outside, which woke me up. You can hear everything from outside, so I would recommend some sleeping earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
This apartment definitely is my favorite accommodation that I have booked the past few years. It is really large, clean, has everything you need and the hosts are super helpful and available if you need something. It's also close to the bus stop, ferry to Valletta and has multiple nice restaurants around the corner. The neighbourhood is not too busy or noisy, it feels cozy and safe. There are no real grocery stores closeby, but if you need a lot of groceries and you don't feel like traveling to a shop, you can also order them (or dinner for example) from from the 'Wolt' app and they will deliver it to the apartment :) I really enjoyed my stay!

AustraliaIt was a very hot spell when I stayed here, so it was a pity that the aircon in the bedroom wasn't working. However, the aircon in the living area was fine, so I used the bed in that area. Also the metered electricity arrangement took a little getting used to, as it was unclear how long the provided credit would last with the aircon being used quite a lot. I was concerned that it might run out in the middle of the night and leave me without any power. However, by regularly monitoring the remaining credit, I was able to make the credit last for the 3 days of my stay.
This was one of the nicest apartments I have stayed in. There are 2 GELMIF apartments, one on the first floor and one on the second, which I stayed in. There is no elevator, so quite a few stairs to negotiate. Not a problem for me, but it's a consideration. The apartment is very quiet and pretty much as described, with comfortable furniture and a well-equipped kitchen. There is a good bus service about 5 minutes walk away, with services to Valletta and other parts of the island, and there is also a convenient ferry service to Valletta a short walk away. However, car parking in the area looked to be quite difficult. The nearest large supermarket that I could find was a 20-minute bus ride away, but the are a number of smaller shops fairly close by. All in all, I would certainly look at booking GELMIF again, but next time, not in mid-Summer.

AustraliaVictory Square was being renovated at the time, so the bus stop had been moved further downhill. As a result, we often took the ferry across to Valetta and back.
We spent a week here in Birgu and loved this handy apartment in a mainly residential area. It's close to Victory Square which has lots of good restaurants, and it was only a short walk downhill to the waterfront where there are lots more, both on the Birgu side, and the Senglea side. The Maritime Museum and the Inquisitors Palace are both close by. The rooms are spacious, and a covered-in balcony was perfect for drying our washing. Our hosts were very helpful and we really enjoyed our first trip to Malta. There were even fireworks on the harbour on our last night!

It’s very comfortable, huge and cozy! Whatever I want or need I could find intuitively, like I was living there all my life! There was more than enough towels! The location is excellent, in the middle of old town, opposite a wonderful church, next to square where you can find a lot restaurants! The owner is very hospitable and answering all your questions almost immediately! I wish I could stay here longer next time!

LithuaniaSomething we would like to mention is not exactly bad about the apartment but it could`ve been mentioned in description or during communication before arrival. As we are from EU we did not expect the different sockets, the British type one. But the owner was very helpful when we asked her where could we buy an adapter she just brought one the same day we asked. Also people should be aware that you have to pay for electricity a seperate charge, i am not sure how much is the included minimum but we did use all of it and were left for a bit with no electricity whatsoever. We informed the owner, she came and topped it up with a 10euro voucher which was charged on us. Again, it would be useful to inform the guests about this kind system with the electricity.
We really enjoyed staying in this apartment. The owner is very friendly and helpful. When we arrived a bottle of wine, a bottle of mineral water were waiting for us. Also there were coffee and tea in the kitchen. All in all a very good experience. Good value for your money. I would book this apartment agian.
