Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaNothing really… the only thing was the dinner we had in the hotel restaurant was very disappointing indeed…and there was no ambience at all - it was as though chairs and tables were just thrown together. Don’t recommend it.
The hotel is in a fantastic central, traffic free location right in the heart of Valletta historic centre (same street as the famous St John’s Co-Cathedral). We loved the location! A lovely modernised boutique hotel. Our room was very well renovated with a comfortable large bed and good quality linens. We had coffee making facilities and the AC worked well (big heatwave while we were there). The reception staff really tried to be very helpful and welcoming. The included breakfasts were excellent with a comprehensive range of choices.

United KingdomCannot find fault with anything.
Everything about the hotel was fantastic, located just a short stroll from the centre of town, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The room and the terrace were roomy and comfortable, the breakfast choice was great, the quality of the food was excellent. We would certainly recommend the Cumberland to family and friends and will certainly love to return next year.

AustraliaThe only thing I didn’t like was the cathedral bells nearby sounding every quarter of an hour throughout the night!
The hotel staff were exceptional: well-trained and extremely helpful. The location is also great, right in the centre of Valletta old town, a short walk from restaurants, cafes and the harbour. It’s a boutique hotel in a narrow old building so has lots of period charm as well as modern facilities.

TurkeyWonderful location, amazing and very helpful people, delicious food. The employees were very kind and they did their best in answering all of our questions. The hotel was extremely clean and at the center of Valetta. Breakfast was included in our stay. Delicious food and you can choose whatever you want. We needed to clarify if they were sure that breakfast was included in the price:) I highly recommend the hotel. We decided to go to Malfa again and for so sure we will stay at the same hotel! Special thanks to Luana!

SerbiaWe liked the location and it was pure pleasure to have breakfast outside, right in front of the hotel, with a view of the sea, while sitting in one of the centrally located, beautiful, romantic, narrow streets... We only have words of praise for their wonderful staff, especially the two amazing people working at the front desk (reception). We especially thank them for assisting us with everything we needed, for their friendliness, kindness, hospitality, smiling faces, for making us feel special and welcome in the true sense of those words!

GreeceI recently stayed at The Cumberland Hotel, and I can confidently say it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by the staff. The check-in process was seamless, and I immediately felt at home. The room was immaculate, spacious, and beautifully decorated, providing a perfect blend of luxury and comfort. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I had some of the best sleep I've had in a long time. The amenities provided were top-notch, and every little detail was thoughtfully considered to enhance my stay. The hotel's facilities were outstanding. The dining options were diverse and delicious, with each meal being a culinary delight. The hotel's location was also ideal, providing easy access to many of the city's attractions while still offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle. What truly sets The Cumberland Hotel apart is the exceptional service. Every staff member I encountered went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect. They were always ready to assist with a smile and made me feel genuinely valued as a guest. Overall, my experience at The Cumberland Hotel was exceptional. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a luxurious and memorable stay. I look forward to returning in the future and enjoying another outstanding experience.

The staff were so nice and helpful, breakfast was excellent, and we had a meal in the restaurant in the evening that was also very good. the Location is second to none, all the main sightseeing is within walking distance and the ferries for 3 cities Gozo and Sliema. Jacuzzi on the roof is a bonus after a long day it's nice to relax.

United KingdomI wish the jacuzzi could have been a little warmer, so that it could be used in the evening or afternoon while looking over the city. It was fine only on the hottest day until the sun moved away, so it would have been nice to be able to adjust the temperature so it was more usable [it was empty most days because it is also windy on the terrace so a hotter water would have been perfect] I also wish there was service to the jacuzzi, (the restaurant of the hotelseems to be closed during the afternoon), however the hotel is bang in the centre of many food places so we just brought our own food and drinks up.
Hotel is in a great location in Valetta - easy to walk around, find food, take the ferry, bars etc. The room was also a very good size and the bed comfortable. The only light was from a window in the inner courtyard but that is to be expected if staying in an old city. Otherwise really liked the stay. There was also a jacuzzi on the roof terrace which we enjoyed and was great to have
