We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

EstoniaDuring the daytime, it was very hot by the pool, and unfortunately, there were no umbrellas to provide shade.
The best location you could choose for your stay in southern Mauritius. The view from the top of the mountain was breathtaking—truly one of a kind. We simply couldn’t stop admiring the stunning lagoon and the iconic Le Morne Brabant. The chalet was very spacious and tastefully furnished. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind.

United KingdomDidn't enjoy dinners much, especially after staying at the sister hotel Seasense and being spoilt by beatifully presented and tasty evening meals..We found dinners at Chamarel hotel very mediocre and next time would choose breakfast only option. Swimming pool located by the restaurant and open from 10am - would be nice to use it early morning before breakfast. Rooms definitely need some TLC
The best views in Mauritius by far! We stayed in the Chalet 8 and we recon it had the best views of the Ocean and Le Morne Brabant mountain. Very peaceful and charming place! Great cooked breakfast Reception and restaurant staff are super helpful and friendly Lots to do near by with walking distance to the Ebony forest and short drive to Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth Geopark. Would highly recomend to hire a car as there is so much to explore. It is our favorite corner of the entire island, Chamarel and Le Motne areas are so beautiful!

AustriaFantastic location with incredible views, exceptional friendly service, our suite was perfectly appointed and equipped, one of the best small hotel stays ever! From the soft music when entering the suite to manicured gardens- it was simply a pleasure! Mini bar prices are absolutely fair and the wlan was fast. The furniture design is well chosen and the light filled suite offers views to both sides. The Chef of the restaurant prepared an excellent lobster for us upon request (surcharge but worth it) and one can preorder a seafood platter- for future guests to know.

MauritiusWhile the hotel had a lot of potential, we encountered an issue with the back door to our room, which wasn’t locking properly. Although the staff acknowledged the problem, the maintenance man wasn’t available to fix it, so the door remained unsecured throughout our stay which left us feeling a bit uneasy. That said, this didn’t significantly affect our overall experience. The location and stunning views more than made up for it, and we still had a pleasant stay. However, I hope the hotel resolves such issues more quickly in the future.
I recently stayed at this beautiful hotel nestled in the mountains with my husband, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. The first thing that captivated us was the breathtaking view of the sea and the coastline—it's the perfect place for anyone looking for serenity and natural beauty and the tranquil atmosphere made it the perfect escape. Watching the sunrise over the ocean from the balcony was a daily highlight, and the panoramic vistas made every moment feel magical. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-appointed, with large windows allowing you to soak in the stunning scenery at all times. The hotel staff were incredibly attentive and made sure we felt welcome throughout our stay. Being surrounded by nature made this the ideal getaway, offering both tranquility and adventure. Enjoying a delicious meal while taking in the scenery was such a relaxing and romantic experience. Every experience felt elevated by the hotel’s unique location. Highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a peaceful retreat with some of the most amazing views you'll ever see.

FranceThe windows were not spot less, our air conditioning was making a lot of noise, but not cold. On terrace, the ceiling was broken, and there was a (nid de mouche jaune) , mini bar was switched off, entrance door was broken and had difficulties closing it. Couldn’t use the swimming pool on first day, as it was dirty.
The staffs were GREAT, very professional, welcoming, smiling, and service was great. The restaurant team, great service, food was deliciously delicious. The F&B manager(forgot his name), was excellent, did everything to please us. The trainees were very courteous and always smiling and very professional. The hotel Manager Mr Dajee, came to salute us at the end of our dinner, spoke a bit and was very pleasant.

Mauritiusit was an absolutely unforgettable experience. The hotel was nestled in the heart of the mountains, with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. The room was cozy and comfortable, with large windows that offered breathtaking views of the mountains. Waking up to the sight of the sun rising over the mountains was truly magical. The chalet also had a lovely restaurant with delicious food and a terrace where you could dine while taking in the spectacular views. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and went out of their way to make sure that our stay was enjoyable. One of the highlights of our stay was taking a hike through the mountains, with the hotel as our starting point. The scenery was absolutely stunning and we were able to truly appreciate the beauty of the natural surroundings. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in the mountains with incredible views. It was a truly unforgettable experience and I can't wait to go back.

SwitzerlandThere’s only a few little things that would be nice to have, like a coffee machine in the cabin or oatmilk as cowmilk alternative in the restaurant.
I don’t think there is any view that could beat this one. I had to pinch myself from time to time to make sure that I wasn’t dreaming. Aside from that, the cabins were beautifully designed and decorated, the bed was very comfortable. The service staff was friendly and attentive. I really liked the furniture of the dining area. If you seek to relax and unwind I guess there’s no better place in Mauritius. For exploring the island I don’t think it would be the best base, since it’s taking a while to get up there. Therefore it’s really close to the seven earth, the waterfall and the Chamarel national park itself, since the chalets are basically inside the park. Altogether we enjoyed our stay to the fullest.

DenmarkDirty glasses in room - weren’t cleaned during cleaning. Bell boy didn’t show. Would have appreciated the hotel would have informed in advance that the charmarel road and passage to the southend of the black river gorge is closed, so I could have visited it in advance.
Breathtaking views. Magnificent chalet (no 2). Beautiful surroundings. Visit the lovely Ebony Forest, which has hikes at various levels. The most challenging and rewarding is to the top of Piton du Cabot. There are ropes to help you to the top (= steep). Also drive to the far north end of Le Morne public beach for beautiful swimming. There is shade under the pine trees.

IrelandPool and sun loungers are done by someone who clearly hasn't had a clue what is that all about. This is a direct sun area with no shade ! Who in sane mind would be spending any time there unless they are looking to be burned. Get some umbrellas please. Also a so called pool is better served as fish pond. Also spend time training stuff before they are service ready. Trainees are nice but absolutely useless
For us this was unbeatable location of the chalets and view worthy of lengthy travels. As native habitat and endemics of Mauritius were nearly destroyed this little part of national park is well presented variety of local flora and fauna. Chalets were also extremely comfortable. Service is friendly though and not formal. Really hard working crew. Food is unremarkable but chef did manage to produce a perfect poached egg for breakfast to which i atay greatful. Half Board option is hardly worth it as food is as glamorous as airline meal. Drive is easy as on concrete road but uphill, but any car can make it. Nearest beach is 25 minutes away. Rooms are spacious and clean housekeeping doing a good job indeed.

United Arab EmiratesWe just thought that chalets should be updated a bit as we could hear wind blowing through our chalet even the windows were closed and found exterior being damaged on few places probably due to weather conditions. Also, we got a bit surprised that there was an extra charge involved if we wanted particular dish for our dinner - we thought that paying half board was just fine, but there were extra costs in case we wanted some of the dishes. Would be great to mention this in the welcoming email as Im sure many guests were surprised the way we were 😊
The view! Absolutely astonishing! Staff members who went above and beyond and prepared such a lovely dinner setting for our wedding anniversary 🫶🏻

United KingdomChalets Chamarel - Let's just start with what we first fell in love with - There we were staying on top of a mountain and in front of us lied what has to be the most Amazing View in all of Mauritius! However, We cannot fail to mention the most wonderful welcome that we received from the staff especially Sachin who looked after us at the Sea Forest Restaurant located on site. Right from the delicious afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast all served with outstanding professionalism and friendliness! We also appreciated the beautiful bed decorations made by our room maid Benedicht! A big thank you to all of you who helped to make our stay, a birthday present for my partner, completely Amazing and Unforgettable! 😊 Paulo & Mary

The hotel is located on top of the mountain. This no doubt is the most unique hotel with the best views possible in Mauritius. The road that goes up the mountain till Ebony Forest is well paved (though small) but easy to drive. The 1.5 km stretch from Ebony Forest till the chalet is small and paved in a way that you can drive on the paved section (see photo). Once you are at the hotel, you have ample place to park your car. The staff are very polite, humble and welcoming. They gave us welcome drinks and cold towel on arrival. We came around 1:40 p.m. and the room was ready. We were staying only for one night and were lucky to get upgraded to the suite. All the chalets have breathtaking views. The pictures do not do any justice. Immediately we regretted that we should have booked for at least 2-3 nights. The experience to stay on top of the mountain was absolutely amazing. The chalet was very nice and clean and had complimentary tea, coffee, kettle and mini fridge. The chalets are well spaced apart to give privacy. The path that leads to restaurant is hilly and we can understand for elderly that have knee problems or use assistance is not easy, but understand that you are on the top of a hilly mountain. The dinner is a la carte, and you get to choose one starter, one main course and one sweet dish. Some dishes and extra surcharge. Breakfast was simple but enough for us including cooked to order eggs. The main reason to stay in this wonderful place would be the views. It's just mesmerizing and relaxing. If you are looking for extravagant dining, or resort type facilities and are not interested in the experience then probably this is not a place for you. We really regretted that we were put off by some negative reviews regarding insects etc. and did not book for more than one night. We did not have any issues with insects inside the room. But again being in nature one would expect creatures of nature!

Best place to stay at. This is not a normal hotel. This is a place with an exhilarating view on top of the mountain viewing the beach. Each chalet had a front and back views for the Sunset and sunrise. Amazing stay and lovely staff with great and welcoming attitude. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality time with their partner. And the food is wow. I enjoyed every meal in the hotel restaurant.
