Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ZambiaSome downfalls unfortunately. Service on the private beach (golf course side) is not a representation of Shangri La. Also found the Easter celebrations very disappointing. Not enough entertainment in the main areas, only at the Kids Club. Would have also liked a bit more lively entertainment. Biggest disappointment, however, was the Easter dinner buffet. It rained and no preparations were done to ensure guests were comfortable. Everything from the tables, mats, etc were soaked and we had to leave to go to Coco's which was really sad. But overall it was a beautiful stay and we definitely plan to go back for the third time!
Beautiful stay in the most magical resort. Staff such as "Nicolle" made our stay all the more special. I was nervous to travel with my 7 month old baby but she ensured that she gave us the baby puree menu so that our baby was well fed throughout the stay. She constantly checked on us to ensure we were okay and comfortable.

ZambiaThe main buffet was closed on Easter Sunday for a garden buffet. As it had rained this was a disaster.. Seats wet, mud everywhere...really not what we expected. We cancelled our booking and went to the Coco restaurant. The entertainment on all five nights we were there was well below average and not what we expected. Nothing really planned for the kids and not even an Easter egg on Easter Sunday! We will be back but not for Easter.
Breakfast was great even though some fan misters would have been nice to deal with the high humidity. Service was excellent particularly Nicolle was amazing and performed as a manager. She looked out for our every need and ensured we were taken care of at all times.

Hong KongNon professional services, restaurants are a mess: need to book 2 days in advance (unbelievable), impossible to access balcony because issue with the door that has not been repaired during our stay, management is bullshit: said would pay for our transfer to airport to compensate: eventually no! Said they will email us for a free night during next stay (anyway no intention to go back): never received, show photos of the paradisiaque junction between île aux cerfs and the private island: does not exist anymore (it is now a dune of sand).
Employees extremely nice and kind.

United Arab EmiratesGlorified retirement home - no vibes, quite boring. The pool (pond) is full of algae and the showers don't work so once you've swam in the swamp you have to lie in the grime for a bit. The Indian restaurant makes dishes that are 50% oil - for real not good.
The room was nice. Tortoises are cool but they're as sleepy as the guests. The fish at the entrance are fun to feed.

United KingdomIt’s not an easy place for walking. Too many steps. One lift to the restaurant. Our room was at the furthest point from the main complex. Staff - so many - but in the restaurant - same issues, not getting breakfast coffee order right. Poor communication. We were on half board and just had a glass of wine with our supper, they charge an awful lot for the one glass of wine…..
Beautiful setting.

BelgiumThe staff on the private island was less passionate and sometimes they ignored our requests.
I loved the private island and how beautiful the hotel was. Also, as I had a late departure, the hotel reception kindly offered a late check in. On the beach of the main location , there was great comfort and the staff was serving you with everything. On the private island- the staff was less responsive. We had to wait quite long to get an answer to our requests.

United StatesSummary and Improved Version: I recently stayed at the Shangri-La Le Touessrok, Mauritius, from September 18th-23rd, 2023, with high expectations of luxury and opulence. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply unsatisfactory, characterized by poor service, subpar accommodations, and a startling disregard for guest experience. Accommodations: I had reserved the Junior Suite Hibiscus Beach Access but was met with a cramped and inappropriate room for a family of four. A shift to the Frangipani 1 bedroom Suite also proved disappointing with dysfunctional in-room phones, significantly hampering our accessibility to services. Quality Discrepancy: A notable disparity in quality was observed between the Hibiscus and Frangipani sides; the former offered substandard towels and amenities, starkly contrasting the plush, high-quality offerings of the latter. This inconsistency raises questions about Shangri-La's global policies and service standards. Departure Day Fiasco: The departure day was marred by an astonishing lack of coordination. My private car service, granted entry the previous day, was inexplicably denied access, subjecting us to an unwarranted exit in a golf buggy, feeling like criminals. Culinary Nightmare: The fine dining Indian restaurant was a culinary disaster. The dishes lacked authenticity and flavor, and the staff appeared bewildered when these issues were pointed out. The manager’s indifferent response added salt to the wound. Unacceptable Management and Customer Service: The blatant lack of communication and customer-centric attention, especially from Head Concierge Merlin and Manager Nathaniel, was deeply frustrating. Their apparent indifference and inaction in the face of our concerns were absolutely unacceptable for a brand of Shangri-La's repute. Some Redemption: Despite the unpleasant experiences, the commendable food and service provided by Chef Ahmed and his team at the buffet restaurant and were the sole redeeming factors.

United StatesThe room was not cleanly, which is disappointing for a five star resort. Housekeeping doesn't make the bed or clean up the trash. There are chips in the floor. The baseboards are really dirty. The whole place needs updating. I asked for a blanket and was given one with gross stains on it. The food was really bad, especially compared with the four seasons down the street. There wasn't one thing that was decent. The meat was overcooked and of low quality. The fruit was not ripe. I ordered a pina colada and just received a glass of coconut milk and rum (no pineapple). You have to ask for everything twice. The simplest things became complicated for no real reason. I ordered room service chicken and it was raw. I complained and they did nothing about it. Honestly, more of a 3 star resort. We stayed at the four seasons for most of the trip and came here the last few days. The four seasons is worth every penny more. I was extremely disappointed for this "five star resort." Will not be returning to Shangri La again.
The beach is really nice and that is about it.

IndiaThe speciality restaurants weren’t to be fine dining experiences that we expected. The quality and flavour was missing at Saffron. Kushi the Japanese restaurant was ok.
The location is beautiful and the property is expansive. The housekeeping staff are lovely and make sure all the requests are taken care of. The rooms were spacious and had all we wanted. The access to the beach was wonderful. The recreation centre and the boat house are great to plan all activities. We loved the water sports, cycling tour and snorkelling. Le Bazaar and the republick are great for meals. The chef and team at Le Bazaar are friendly and the food is a good spread. We loved the Arabic fare. Ile Mangine the private island is perfect for a lazy day by the water and good food. The spa and the therapies were exceptional. The staff is welcoming and helpful.
