Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesIf I have to post a con - it would be the frig , wish it was a bit colder but no one grabs your stuff. Other travelers not ats social able , polite with our hi's and bye's.
This is not like other hostels , I ended up in a private room and for the price can't beat it. They kept the whole place clean, restroom, common room, even the stairs. Staff very friendly and helpful , I recommend to let them know when you are leaving so they can have a taxi waiting for you; I left at 5am.

NetherlandsI booked one of the better rooms, so paid a higher price of course, but they tried to put me in one of the cheapest rooms. There's no electricity next to the bed

MexicoInside the area is all-terrain and there is not much wi-fi And the kitchen doesn’t work at all, the kitchen is not working there and they close the gas 3 times a day, and the staff is very arrogant and the owner too, why am I saying this because they treated me very unfairly and treated me badly, and I was surprised when they took the money, they immediately started to rude me, I then wanted to leave a comment, everything is fair

United KingdomNoisy and as there was no AC or fans, it was very warm in the rooms. On a 4 day stay I only managed 2 lukewarm showers - all others were stone cold. Woken at 5am as locals let in to sleep on the floor in the common area outside my room - maybe staff?
Close to the centre on Oaxaca and lots of common areas eg terraces, Free water and coffee.

CanadaThe room was good. However, it was the room across from the bathrooms and the walls are thin, so you can hear everyone going in and out. If you book a room, maybe ask for one away from the bathroom. Other than that, everything was great.
The hotel has many rooms, nice rooftop, terraces where you can see beautiful views.. Room, although small, had what I needed. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Location is close to the Zocalo and near shops and restaurants.

GermanyThe bed wasn’t so good. We were cold and asked for blankets they didn’t have any which is strange for such a big hostel. The staff spoke only Spanish at the reception which doesn’t make sense for a hotel/hostel
The location was really good to get around in the city

PolandDirty - the bathroom/shower area smelled of pee; the room isn't cozy or comfortable - feels like a small hospital room
Good location - near Zocalo; affordable (but there are better cheap options)

CanadaAlthough I feel pretty ok about the room being very small and prison like, the room I was given was a converted bathroom with bathroom tiles all around and a plugged up shower area. It felt quite cold and uncomfortable. It was also right next to the actual bathroom and I could hear everything. It was also very noisy from the inside and also people slamming doors and talking loudly late into the night and early morning or playing music. The biggest problem I had were the bathrooms. The shower on our side was cold even though I waited for a long time and ended up taking 2 cold showers. Someone else told me their water was warm on my third day, so i went to ask the front desk if I could use someone else's shower they got almost upset at me, blaming me for not telling them earlier and now I have to wait until tomorrow for someone to look at it. I didn't think to ask before because the second day I thought the shower was getting warm so I got in but it turned cold again. The bathroom also smelled quite a bit. Overall it was not really a comfortable stay but also not the worst. I'm just not sure why their ratings are so good.
It's in a great location, very close to the markets and the historical centre so very convenient to get around. The guy who checked me in was nice and they offer some advice on where to go. I like that they had a kitchen and nice rooftop view. There is also water and coffee provided which is nice.

CanadaPeople who don't know how to close a door in the evening, nobody need to slam them when some are in metal. People who expect the others to clean the dishes after them or taking somebody else food or stealing ustensils. Too bad because the kitchen is great and the dining room huge. People need to respect others. All of that is not the fault of the hostel.
The location next to the zocalo and the enternmaint every evening. The terrasse is great to relax, see the view and wash our clothes. Coffee is on the whole day. The mix of ages of people, the place is super clean.

BelgiumStaff is very unfriendly. When asking if the room doesn't have a bathroom, the only thing he could replied was: "this is not a hotel room" and he was gosseping with the cleaning lady about my question. Also, when I asked for activities or a bar, the guy pretended he didn't understand English. And when the hotel is almost empty, it doesn't make sense to give me a bed in the most noisy room of the place.

United StatesA bit impersonal… and wet
Excellent for the style of lodging. Huge rooms, huge high ceilings, huge common spaces, huge shared kitchen, huge roof deck for sunrise/sunset, huge shared bathrooms. All tile everywhere, no carpets, bath mats, or blankets, even the towels feel small (but they include towels!). Very good value for what you pay. Very central. Sometimes loud and echoing. Solid wifi in common areas, coffee, and there’s some gym equipment! A great flop!

Austria3 rooms share a bathroom that is very big in size, but there is only one shower, one toilett and one sink together in the bathroom. There is no place to hang your things or lay down your clothes. There was no soap in the sink. The bed has an uncomfortable plastic layer over the matress. The windows did not close completely. I was able to enter my room even when I closed it from the inside. You can hear a lot of the doors slamming and footwalks from above, it is very noisy overall. I stayed 3 night 1 street further in the same are (happy express hotel) and it was so much quieter.
It was available.

CanadaThe internet was not sufficient for working online, it cut many times. The 'hot water' was not existent. The street next to the hostel is SOOOO loud. The 4 bed dormitory was extremely hot and they did not have a fan to provide.
They had free coffee and a nice terrace at the top of the building. They had water provided for free.

ChinaAs an "international youth hostel", their front desk did not speak any English, and the room still smelled of disinfectant when the agreed check-in time came. The common area is large but has no social atmosphere. Visitors are not allowed even in private rooms and the front desk is very rude.
.The only advantage is the location.

SpainWe had a room facing the street and it was horribly busy, so I could not sleep. The internet connection was very bad and it was going up and down. It may have to do with the room we had because I saw other guests connected and working remotely without problems. The area where the hostel is was a little ugly, although not far from the centre. If you are going on a budget this might be a good option, but I would prefer to spend a bit more and stay in a proper hotel in the centre
OK for a hostel. The common areas looked nice and there has a lot of space. You can see that the owners take a lot of care to keep the hostel in good shape. It is probably the best hostel to stay in Oaxaca, but I don't like hostels that much, so I cannot give a better rating. Kitchen looked nice although I did not use it

CanadaThe shared washrooms could have been checked and cleaned more often by the housekeepers. Some guests were not considerate and left the washrooms dirty. I often saw the housekeepers washing the floors in the lobby and halls when the washrooms hadn't been cleaned. It would be better if they prioritized cleaning the washrooms.
My room was quiet and comfortable. The hostel provides free coffee and bottled water all day. The wi-fi is pretty fast, but often you need to take your laptop somewhere close to the router if you have high speed requirements like a video call (ex: Skype & Zoom). There are some tables and chairs near the router. Their 24 hour front desk service is convenient if you plan to have a late night out.
