Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesI didn’t like the fact that you have to pay for room service if you aren’t “premium” level.
The property was beautiful and clean. The super sized king bed and pillows were AMAZING! The beach was pristine and kept up daily.

NetherlandsBeware of extra charges. Their prices are in USD but wouldn’t let us pay in USD with a Mexican Amex card, they used their own conversion rate to MXN, which ended up being more expensive than if we’d paid in USD.
The hotel is beautiful and the pools and beach are amazing and well maintained

United States- Our room was on the Premium building but we had to still ask and insist at checking for the high floor we had to requested on our reservations (we were placed on a lower floor which would have obstructed the view of the ocean we paid for.) - Same level of premium alcohol is provided whether you are a Premium level client or not at the Maya Riviera. They only check your bracelet at the other sister resorts. So if you don't plan to leave the hotel, is not worth paying extra for Premium -Towel cards - You have to pick up towels using these cards and return them every day. If you don't show your cards at check out they'll charge you for them. This system is archaic and needs to be eliminated. - We never ever saw nor knew we had a concierge. They have desks on each floor by the elevator which were always empty. On other properties the concierge had either visited in person or left a message on our phone introducing themselves. We bumped into one of them by chance on our last day and were told that they rotate them from one building to the other and the hours are very limited. - Reservations is required at the a la carte restaurants. I tried to make them at check in and set us up for our entire stay and yet we were told that one was already booked for the entire week. It was only after 3 days of nagging, calling and speaking to several managers that we were able to get in. This should have been the job of our dedicated concierge, which as mentioned, we never met. - One night I asked for a martini at the main lobby bar and they served it on a small plastic cup. I explained that I was drinking it at the bar (not taking the glass outside) and that's when they told me that they had ran out of ALL glasses (not just martini glasses). - Room amenities - Did not include body lotion of any kind. - We were not offered a cold beverage upon our arrival (a standard welcome practice of other ''5 star" hotels we have visited in Mexico.
- The food and beverages were good overall. - The service from the staff at the bars and restaurants was excellent. - The entertaining team did a great job motivating the guests to participate on the activities such as water aerobics, Zumba, dance lessons, board games, etc.

United StatesUpgrading to Premium level services really isn't worth it. The premium lobby lounge looks nice like everything else, but there's nothing really happening in there. Other resort brands offer exceptional upgraded services (premium bar, restaurant, pool, beach, liquor, etc.) that far exceed what is offered here.
The resort is beautiful, huge, and well kept. Rooms overlooking the pool/ocean have excellent views, especially from the 4th and 5th floors. Food was very good at all restaurants and buffet. Lots to do when considering you have access to all the amenities offered through the 5 other Barcelo resorts. Beach was big and well groomed. Not much to complain about.

United StatesLimited food options. Only 1 lunch option open - buffet or dinner only one restaurant open. Disappointed as the point is to try multiple places. We wanted options at our resort rather than having to go to the family resorts. Night entertainment started too late. Recommend at least a 9pm start time. Recommend more craft cocktail drinks as a 5 star resort. Menus with pictures included for the craft drinks. No bar at the beach or service at the beach.
Beautiful property, loved how there was space and not over crowded. Taco bar was excellent. Beach was beautiful! Gorgeous property. Loved the ability to walk on the path through other properties.

CanadaThere is a hotel nearby that plays incredibly loud music until 11 pm each night, which is annoying. The swim up pool attached to the hotel rooms is cold. No one used their pools from what I saw.
The hotel was so well kept and the food was excellent.

United StatesNothing. Prices were too high at the gift shop on Liquer, but besides that, there was no issue at all.
The hotel and property were terrific; they were among the best I have ever stayed in. The rooms were excellent and well, and the staff aimed to please. The food was out of this world. The buffet was one of the best I have ever been to. From the fresh fish daily to the fresh tacos.

United StatesIf you like to swim in the ocean, the waves are lower than elsewhere. But this may not be the best place due to shallow water, some rocks and seaweed.
The property is built for a large number of people, as it also hosts conferences. There is a lot of space everywhere and it never feels crowded. In one week you can barely try everything in a giant buffet. As if that wasn't great, you can easily book a dinner in four restaurants (more in adjacent properties), which are also excellent. Good quality drinks are available everywhere, including two pool bars. Live performances are offered daily.

Bahrainjust that the chairs by the beach didn’t have any options for shade if needed, and there was a bit of seaweed build up.
The staff where always smiling, friendly and helpful, checking in and out was very smooth , the guest services were great in helping us book restaurant reservations and figure out the daily activities, as well as the adventure excursions outside the hotel. Liked the open concept of the main building , and the amazing large 4 pools , the large buffet restaurant where you never have to worry about finding a place to sit, with a wide variety of food , and almost everything tasted good. There was always someone around to help, whether it was the waiters in the restaurant or out by the pool . The pools are large and clean , it had more than enough lounge chairs both in and out of the shade that we never had to worry about finding a place to sit even if we got there later in the day. The beach was clean with beautiful palm trees over the chairs. Both where open from 8am until 8pm which is great as most hotels close their pools around 6pm. The room was large and clean, beds were very comfortable, loved having the hot tub in the balcony. There is always some type of live entertainment at night in all the hotels , and as it’s part of a chain of hotels right next to each other within the same compound we were free to walk over or hop on the hotel bus to visit the other hotels , and we where free to use their facilities, and while guests at the other hotels where also allowed into our hotel they had to be 18 and above as we are adults only, so that was great. They had a small mall with both an indoor and outdoor stalls in one of the hotels with all kind of souvenirs and locally made goods, in addition to clothing and mini convenience store , so don’t worry if you forgot to pack something, odds are you’ll find something similar there. We got massages at the spa and the spa rooms where beautifully decorated and the therapists where great.
