Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesFelt run down—the room smelled damp and moldy, some loose and rusty fixtures (sink faucets, shower soap dispensers), shabby outdoor furniture like lounge chairs, towels with holes (albeit clean). Wifi was slow/inconsistent. Should note—not the hotels fault or under their control, but if you stay here before Train Maya completion, there is heavy construction and lots of trucks and workers passing by until late and you’d benefit from earplugs. Once construction is complete I don’t imagine this would be an issue.
Stunning room design. It is modeled after Mayan architecture and truly unique, we had stayed at nothing like it—they were so close to a stellar experience and needed to get a couple details right to knock it out of the park.

Czech RepublicDue to the construction of the railway there is noise and dust around. Large trucks drive under the windows all day from early morning to late evening. Parking is on the street.
Breakfast in the garden was very good. The staff is very nice and helpful. Nice garden.

FranceThey asked us the time for breakfast … we said 6:30 because we needed to go to visit Calakmul before 10 (during the work fro tren maya, it opened and close earlier). They said ok, on the morning at 6:30, the breakfast was not ready at all, and they didn’t even arrived to prepare it. We needed to wait more, and were a bit late for our visit.
Could’ve been worse … I read the comments before booking it (but anyway it was the only one available for that night.) I was thinking it would be very bad but, we slept well even if yes they were some noises outside. But wasn’t a big deal for us

AustraliaWe booked 2 bedrooms, where we stayed was ok but the other room was a total mess when we arrived. It wasn't prepared, as if they have been abandoned for ages. We have to wait for someone to come clean this up. They advertised w breakfast, we never got anything and there was never a staff around to even offer any help. The owner has to contact some friends to help clean the room before we can use it. I wouldn't book this one again. Total lack of staff and run down accommodation.
Location, its 20mins walk to the ruins.

SwitzerlandThe shower had low water pressure and no hot water. There is a parking for trucks repairing the road just outside the hotel (although it is temporary) so noise early morning and the access road is very muddy.

NetherlandsIt took a few minutes before we had warm water in the shower, but we were made aware of this beforehand. There were no curtains in our room. There was some noise from the building site of the train track (scheduled to be finished December 2023), but it didn't really matter as we had to be up early for our trip to Calakmul.
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Maya Calakmul. We stayed at this small hotel because of our visit to Becan and Calakmul, Very good Mexican dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff. We were able to do our laundry and use the fridge in the communal area. WIFI and air conditioning were decent. Good for 2 nights.

United KingdomNo tea or coffee maker in room; no mini bar and no mountain view - all of which are stated on bookings.com. No bottled drinking water; no door locks, no safe. No on-site restaurant or bar. (except for breakfast). No wardrobe / closets for hanging clothes. No car park - parking is on a quiet country track.
Difficult to review this place - strong feeling that it is living on past glories and has gone downhill since Covid. But staff were friendly, breakfast on our terrace was very good and the setting was lovely. The noise of the cockerels and other birds was not an issue for us - the garden courtyard was lovely and great base for exploring ruins

United StatesFinding the property was a challenge, but the directions from the host were very helpful. The air conditioner needed servicing. There were stains on the walls and ceiling - appears to have to do with being in the jungle.
The room was a surprise design wise. The size was large as was the bed with a huge bathing room. There is a huge veranda with lovely lounging area and table where breakfast was served the next morning.

United Kingdom1. Property is run down and in a neglected state of repair. The photos on booking.com were taken many years ago and do not represent the present condition of the accommodation 2. The deluxe suite was a dark damp crypt. 3. Barely any water pressure in the bathroom. 4. Furnishings and bedding shabby. 5.UNSAFE - Two doors into the property, bathroom, and bedroom. Sliding doors with no means of locking, no safe. Where can you leave any valuables? 6. The gardens are overgrown and unkempt. 7. Mountain view. WHAT Mountain view? Nothing nearby that even looks like a hill. 8. No hot tub, as advertised. 9. Overpriced and total misrepresentation The fact that they took more money from my credit card than what was agreed in the booking contract. The property is not really habitable, and upon cancelling after viewing, they have not refunded 50% of my money as stated in the booking conditions. I get the impression that this is a scam, drawing people in with false advertising, insisting on prepayment with no intention of refunding when you realise what a hovel it is.
Nothing, totally misleading advert . The property did not resemble any of the photographs. But the receptionist, who appeared from up the road was very friendly and was obviously used to dealing with dissatisfied guests and cancellations.

United StatesThe water was either exceptionally hot or very cold. It took up to five minutes for the temperature of the shower water to change, so making it hotter or colder were not options. My only other complaint has nothing to do with the hotel itself, but the construction traffic from the giant Maya Tren project. This particular section of the Tren works 24 hours a day and the trucks never stop passing. It didn't affect me because I was so tired, but others should know the current reality.
The staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast in the morning is in a comfotlrtable palapa in an intimate setting, and was excellent. There is an undiscovered Mayan mound from the Becan Archaeological Site in the garden just south of the palapa.

NetherlandsThere is still a lot of work done on the new Maya railroad and this gives a lot of noise from the road. I trust that this will diminish once the work in the railroad has finished.
Enormous terrace with two large relaxing seats. They were very comfortable. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Large bed and bathroom. I would definitely give a try on your way to the site of Calakmul.

Poland- the parking is not private (street outside), yet there is a gate so it's possible to make it happen - door and windows are not completely tight, so few insects can get inside (we had only 3 ants) - bedding, mattress and curtains to be refreshed - more flexible payment
The hotel for sure has its potential: the location is great, foundation is good, however it seems the best years are behind it. The problems are with lack of maintenance and few other details. + location + very friendly staff + hotel and room appearance
