Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomPlace would benefit a lot from little bit more attention of the host
The place has potential, it is interestingly constracted inside beautiful jungle but lacks a few details for comfort of stay such as fun inside huts, gas in kitchen.

MalaysiaThe location - which was far away from the accessibility of public transport. But once you walk out from the area (approximately 2km walking journey) you can take the collectivo van to centro with just 10 pesos! Wonky phone network - because it’s in a forest.
The unusual design of the buildings, where one can spend time admiring the effort of the builder. Swimming the a cenote nearby. Good for dog and cat lovers. The effort of Rocio and Oscar in this property.

United StatesI was "upgraded" to a 3rd floor room in the main house because the Cottage I reserved wasn't available. The room had screened openings near the ceiling, but was still insufferably hot and substantially warmer than the first floor. There was no natural air flow and no fans offered to move the air trapped upstairs. I left within 2 hours of arriving because the sweet old dog on the premises was barking incessantly directly under my room and I could not sleep despite my attempts to block the noise and accept the stagnant hot air. Wi-Fi was not available in the room, so I could only contact the host from the first floor office and wait for them to respond. I'm still working with the host to get a refund.
Staff was very nice, clean and unique room.

NetherlandsWe spent some days at Portal Xibalba and let me tell you it was one of the most beautiful experiences we had. The location is awesome. If you are looking for peace, this is the place. The food is delicious, and the people were extremely helpful. We even took part of a ceremony and it was such a beautiful energy they work with that even it was not in our plans, was one of the best choices we made.. We highly recommend the place and the activities they offer. Thank you so much lovely people. Namaste:)

LithuaniaIt was sooooo tricky to find this place! First of all, host(s) forgot about our coming :D Perhaps it was my bad because I haven't informed them about our arrival time. So the security guard didn't want to let us in the territory. After that, we found it difficult to find our sleeping place. It is in the middle of the jungle... The host was super relaxed and didn't bother, he showed the place and described how to find the main house (200 m by the road) with breakfast and wifi. It was pretty far from the camp.
Well, this stay left a long-lasting memory as it was so pure and unique. Hosts were even too kind to us - they believed in spiritual energies and jungle gods. Looks like people are coming to Portal just to relax and disconnect from the world. It was a pity that we stayed only one night but it was enough to get out of civilisation. Nice breakfast cooked in front of us - fresh fruit, pancakes. Amazing architecture of the main jungle building! We also saw plenty of wild animals - tarantula, capybara, etc.

ItalyWe were given two single beds instead of one double bed which we had booked. The toilet and shower are not at all private as the curtains are almost see-through.
The place was really quiet and relaxing. We spent 3 days surrounded by nature. The cenote near the house is beautiful. We swam in it every day. The food is amazing and varied and we had three very nice and different breakfasts. We were able to use the yoga mats in the temple and fully relax, but also explore the surrounding area.

United StatesA bit hard to get to. Easier to tell the taxi to go to pueblo sacbe and follow the signs to Portal Xibalba. Needs daylight to see the signs, as the forest roads are somewhat confusing. Or take the 30x30 collectivo and walk the rest of the 3ay from downtown playa del Carmen.
Beautiful location, great place to relax and connect with nature.
