I guess I didn’t like holbox itself as much as anticipated so it’s not the accommodation itself. The accommodation is basic but fine and the room very clean and comfortable. One can see that the island is suffering from climate change - which also goes back to us travelers… the water creeps up to most properties and hence they suffer from it. Depending on the size of the waves it’s tough for everyone to deal with the aftermath/ seagrass

Lovely staf. Spacious comfortable room, gets cleaned daily. Location right on the beach, not a great area to swim (as expected from the photos on booking) but that's around the corner. When the island had some (days of) rain it's best to walk to town along the beach instead of the roads. Beware of the mosquitos before sunrise and after sunset, that's anywhere on the island though - has nothing to do with this great spot! Looks like Choby will open a restaurant soon, that'll be a great addition, even though there's also a nice option around the corner.

Isla Holbox is ruined. The island is sinking due to tourism and I would encourage you to rethink going at all. Regarding the hotel: - The staff change your bed sheets and towels everyday which is not needed. Of course it was nice but it is such a waste of the staff’s time and energy. - The hotel is situated on the beach but it is not a nice part of the beach (there is a lot of seaweed that washes ashore down this end which can get very smelly). It is a 15-20 minute walk into town, and at least a 25-30 min walk to the jetty. - Also they had a bird in a very very small cage with no enrichment. PLEASE can you get the bird a bigger cage to live in and a mirror or bird friend.

The room was large and very clean. The hammock is a nice touch and we really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were also very nice and helpful, and there is drinking water at reception.

Non-existent water pressure in the sink. Shower pressure and the temperature was bad, however staff addressed that. Refrigerator made constant noise. Construction next door made constant noise - but nothing the property could do to avoid that. Bar hours were inconsistent. However, when open, service and drinks were great.

Location. Staff. Proximity to restaurants, shops and attractions. Price was a motivating factor. Very laid back location. Very relaxing.

they speak poor english, windows didn’t lock very well, seaweed on the beach-they could clean it and the beach would be wonderful, construction work on both sides of the hotel(not their fault but it is not the nicest view and it ia noisy, location: better to have bikes, walking to the centre is 15min, but on other hand its remoteness brings more peace and quiet

Very nice and helpful staff. It‘s located a short walk outside downtown, right at the beach. The accomodation is basic but well cleaned, they provide you with towels and beach towels. We had our laundry done which was done very well. It‘s a good place to stay.

We started on the top floor. The shower water pressure was nonexistent. We just used the spigot and a cup. We didn't mind the minor inconvenience for more privacy and a nice view. Also, there's no hot water. Could be chilly if you shower at night.

The family who runs Choby's is lovely, accommodating, and super helpful. Choby's is rustic but the staff keeps it spotless. The view from the room is very nice.

There is a construction site directly next to it, however was not really noisy as the workers do most by hand. Be aware that the Pandora restaurant has almost every evening a dinner show with sometimes live music. Was not really disturbing as they stop before midnight.

Directly at the beach with own beach access and view to the sea. We had a room with kitchen, not very well equipped, but when we asked for missing items, we got them. Room was clean when we came, no cleaning service during the stay, which was fine for us. We enjoyed very nice cocktails at their small beach bar. Two cute rabbits and a dog are nice members of the family

Being a smaller property when power is out there are no lights or A/C. Owner provided a candle for light. WiFi is minimal and should not be counted on. Pandora restaurant/show behind guesthouse can be heard, but we found the music from the show to be relaxing and we slept great.

Amazing location on gorgeous and quiet section of beach. About a 10minute walk to town center via beach. Room was simple but spotless and beds very comfortable. A/C worked well when power was on. Large bottle of water was provided for drinking water. Staff was so sweet, happy, and helpful. Bar on site had great drinks. Little cove in front of hotel had bioluminescient algae when we were there that was amazing when walking in water.

Need to clean the room more i.e change the bathroom bin every day and also I would advise to pay by card as there was some confusion that I didn't pay my bill and they charged me twice... It was genuine that they forgot but if it had been cash I would have no way to prove it.. luckily the system updated and showed my last transaction and they gave me a cash refund butt just advice

WiFi connection was poor at best. And shower basic with not hot water but not really a huge issue as it was 37degC weather.

The room size was really good and spacious for a family of 4 with a great view of the beach. Access to the beach was superb. The room has a small terrace perfect for watching the sunset! Facilities in the room are nothing special, tv, air on and fan. That’s all you need really (apart from the tv which is really not needed). The place is away from the main town, which is about 15-20min to the centre. However the location is perfect if you do not want the hustle and bustle and piece and quiet. There is one restaurant round the corner which serves good breakfast and dinner. Choice is not huge but good enough unless you fancy something upmarket. The hotel is about 15-20min walk from playa cocos, which you can walk all the way along the beach or faster on the backroad. The hotel has a little bar serving drinks, which was good. Would have been great if they served some food , but this is not really a problem as the beach bar next door serves some finger food, though beware that the food is not great and the prices quite high even for Holbox standards.

The hotel is nothing close to what it's presented on pictures and describes in offer. It was the most disgusting part of entire beach on Holbox, and mostly because it was not cleaned and prepared for the season (rotten sunbeds, trash everywhere). The entire area around hotel looked like garbage dump. I have never used the hotel "beach". I could probably even close my eye on it, it was just 4 nights, but how the hotel looks was the smallest problem. I got twice locked inside my room! It took me 30min to get out for the first time and second time I had to use force and shout as long (there are no windows there) as another guest heard me and called after help. The reason I couldn't open the door was that both door and locker were pretty old, and after this second incident I was informed about the special way to open it (hold, lift, etc), so I'm sure it was not the first time someone was locked inside (I missed my meeting, but it could happen something much worse). They tell you, they provide wifi, but I had it only first day, when I informed staff that the internet isn't working (and it was not working for the next 3 days) they just shaked their shoulders. It was the only place on the island where internet was not available.

There were times when it had a heavy sewage-like smell outside...

The location was amazing! There was a beautiful beach and perfect sunsets. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and included a hammock which my son enjoyed trying out. The restaurant and bar wasn't open but Choby's was close to two fantastic places-both la Cabana-which had excellent food and drinks.

Would have liked to go bike riding but the ones at the hotel were not in good shape.

The staff was absolutely amazing! The Boss Lady Claret was eager to assist with any and all arrangements and activities on the Island. She was eager to answer all our questions and made many good suggestions, going out of her way to be sure we had a nice time. Aki and Elena were sweethearts also. Always smiling and helpful! Really enjoyed the smallness and hominess of the hotel.
