Staff very friendly and helpful. The round shaped rooms were a bit not handy as you cannot put anything down due to the roundness, so it’s really not comfortable. But it’s good for a one night stay! Breakfast also ok!

There was no running water for over 12 hours (which we’ve learnt is rather common in Mexico!), luckily it was raining heavily so the water could be collected in buckets to flush the toilets… otherwise I’m not sure what would have been done!

For one of the cheaper places to stay in Tulum it was definitely really good. The communal areas were well equipped and very clean, all the staff were super lovely and helpful. Bathrooms were clean and beds were pretty comfy. Drinking water available which is always a plus. Breakfast was very basic of cereals and toast but did the job!

Tubes are pretty small and sometimes uncomfortable. Breakfast was not great, only bread and some cereals.

Amazing decorations and vibe of the place.

The owner was a little odd when I arrived. I booked a shared room because I didn't like the look of the tubes that much, and when I arrived she asked if I wanted to "upgrade" for a fee to the tubes. When I said no she seemed a bit annoyed and told me I couldn't have the room I booked because it was being painted. She said she'd put me in the tube for one night and if I liked it I could pay extra to stay there for the other nights. Long story short the room I originally wanted was never available, and despite asking me a few times if I wanted to "upgrade" I was never charged extra. Super weird and left a bit of a bad taste to what would have otherwise been a nice stay! The tube was a bit cold because you're so close to the AC and could feel a bit cramped if you have a big backpack. I would have preferred the room I booked with a normal ceiling.

Good location on the cycle path and easy to get around Tulum from here, and to the bus station etc. The bathrooms were really spacious and clean. The kitchen was decently equipped to make basic meals. I love cats so having so many around the property was cute!

We had a hard time finding it since it is called Hostal Mulut Tulum but on Googlemaps you find the accommodation only under the name TuboTulum Hostel which was a bit confusing!

Very charming hostel! Nice community kitchen and seating area! There are opportunities to chill and relax (like hammocks) throughout the place. Rooms are clean. Owner is very friendly and responsive. Location is good, it is between downtown and beaches!

Only once you book do they message you about the hidden costs. Honestly, it's not worth the money. The wifi was terrible. The free breakfast was a joke: there was no milk for those who do not support the dairy industry, eggs were provided, but you had to cook them yourself, and the fruit was ancient, which I learned after a big bite into a brown apple. The toilets and showers are grouped. That means when a toilet goes out of order (a common occurrence), a shower is lost, too. There were several occasions where nothing was available for a prolonged time. The social area's music comes from an old CD player that skips constantly, enough to drive someone utterly insane.

As you can tell from the photos, the aesthetic is very charming. The staff were full of smiles and chats. Many cute cats and dogs are running around, which lifted my spirits! Their push for recycling is admirable. The showers had strong pressure and reached the perfect temperature.

It's a bit difficult to regulate the temperature in the tube, our AC seemed to have only one setting of freezing cold air... but honestly it's nothing compared to all the good things :)

Super atmosphere, very nice staff, amazing breakfast and super clean shared bathrooms. The tube is essential but comfy, the garden with amacas it's a great place to chill outside your tube. Friendly doggos around :)

If you don't like cats and dogs, or have allergies, I wouldn't recommend staying here. Lots of very friendly, lovely cats and dogs around all the time, which I liked but honestly think people should be made aware before booking.

Provide mosquito repellent in the rooms.

Excellent hostel! I took a capsule and I was amazed how comfortable they were. Recommended taking earplugs with you though as the street close by is noisy at night, as well as mosquito repellent. Thanks so much to the amazing staff for the hospitality, tips and genuine care. Would def come back!

Personally we didn't like the bed linen. It was slippery and wasn't very well attached to the mattress. Also a duvet was missing, only a sheet was available. Also there was a high humidity in the room.

Great location. Great concept. Very clean bathrooms.

    - hidden costs (some Tulum tax which you find out about AFTER booking in a private message, do not much you can do about it. Moreover there is an added fee if you pay with a card (in a whole Yucatan peninsula round trip it was the first place where it happened to us). There was no such information anywhere beforehand, so it feels unfair) +/- in houses there is no flat surface to stand, do it's challenging a bit, but it's obvious with such kind of building

The place is great and very well located! Rick is super friendly and helpful with whatever you need, including organising trips etc. :) + cosy and one of a kind experience of living in round houses in a beautiful garden + affordable price for Tulum + breakfast and kitchen set available (included) + great location, many cool places around + warm water and very clean facilities + clean beds + really, really helpful hosts

Location is on the main street, but the hotel is set back from the hustle and bustle amongst a small natural wooded area. It felt very safe inside with gated entry access. Interesting hotel layout and design with tubular sleeping pods and a central 'jungle' courtyard of relaxing & shady trees. Huge hypermarket that sells everything is just 5 min walk. Cooking facilities. Air-con in rooms. Staff were friendly and easy going.

Too many mosquitos- reconsider if u may get allergic reaction

Now the cons are two but major ones: Mosquitos! They have a lot of mosquitos in the kitchen and toilet area. I have around 60-80 bites in the space of 5 days (most happened first 2 days). When I say mosquitos- u can see them in the bathrooms a couple flying around you. I sent a picture to one of my friends and she thinks some were from fleas. There are cats and dogs, which are being looked after but do not know about fleas. I am already with some sensitivities and allergies which makes me more prone to get allergic reaction. I had 3 types of mosquito repellent, got a cream and pills as my feet swollen from the alergic reaction and the heat! In hindsight, I should have left for another place. This is my fault. Second thing- book your tours with someone else. I enquired about a tour and waa going to book it. She last minute the lady at the reception told me it is 10 dollara more expensive. When I talked to other people on the tour- they paid the original price I wad quoted. Just go around and check who will offer best price. She also did not have change at some point and never remembered to give me the difference. If it was one or the other- I will let it slide, but all together is a bit too much for a coincidence. Also, only one of the bathrooms has good water preasure.

I chose a single room. The room was quite big. It has A/C which you need at Tulum.I stayed for 5 nights in total. I would have given it 5 stars if it was not for the cons I experienced. The kitchen is big enough and has enough space in it to cook, fridge to leave your things. They have hammocks and chairs to sit in the garden. The owner is pleasant and seems like a nice lady. She gave me a better rate when I extended for more nights.

There are 84 photos of this Hostel to look at - Not one photo shows that there are 5 cats, 3 dogs + extra stray cats at this property. Great if you’re a cat lover. A nightmare if you’re not. The cats are all over the communal areas. They even sleep on the tables that you eat at. They are a problem as they are begging for food when you’re cooking & eating. The hostel knows this as they provide water spray guns on the tables to spray the cats with. It doesn’t work though. I am allergic. I had to get the owner to come and get a cat out of my room as I had left the door open to get in some air. Another guest said he was attacked when going to the bathroom in the night with a cat jumping on him. I booked a weeks stay with no knowledge of any cats until I arrived at the property. I ended up leaving after 3 x nights to stay somewhere else. The owners need to take a stance and be fully transparent with their advertising. Maybe just become a cat hostel, that promotes itself for cat lovers.

    The bathrooms were very clean.

The hostal is beautiful and original in its concept and design. We particularly loved the garden planting and the tubes were very comfortable to sleep in. Hot showers, friendly residents, bike hire and a very good location but the best feature is Richard and his partner who run the hostel. Richard is a sound guy who gave us great tips for trips and for life in general! He helped in all aspects of our stay and is such a positive person.
