It is a bit far away from the center but remains fine. I would recommend to rent bicycles at another place as many are broken.

The Mayan Monkey hostel is probably the beat hostel of Tulum. The equipments are great, everything is clean, perfect! But there is one thing that makes the difference: the staff. They are so friendly and make you feel confortable. They are creating a unique experience and great memories, always smiling. Thank you all and particularly Alex who exceed my expectations!

They play very loud music every afternoon and evening in the bar/ pool area, so it's impossible to have a conversation there. The kitchen doesn't have enough cooking utensils for the amount of people that stay in the hostel. I stayed in their location in Cabo and I loved everything, but this hostel is just too big and the activities they offer don't always take place. The location is a bit far from the centre as well as from the beach.

The hostel is beautiful and looks more like a boutique hotel, the beds are very comfortable and everyone has their own space thanks to curtains and shelves inside the bed. They offer activities, like Yoga classes which are nice. They offer breakfast for 100 MXN which includes a buffet as well as a chosen dish like Chilaquiles, Pancakes or Quesadillas. So I think it's a really good deal.

I didn't like the attitude of one particular bar man (he is mexican but looks like Filipino). He doesn't speak English but his body language possesses a very negative & aggressive display. 70% of communication is body language. I personally do not binge drink..I ordered two pints of beers. One was full whilst the other was 3/4 to full. I told him to top the 3/4 up however with an aggressive approach he refused to do so. Later another friend had a misunderstanding because of the happy hour. Again we didn't like his approach. He is there to serve the customers & not have this negative approach because it damages the whole positive aspect of the hostel to make the guests have a pleasant stay.

The best way a hostel should represent themselves, amazing staff (except one), spacious rooms & separate showers..big pool & great hostel activities 🔝 The reception staff & the Argentinian girls who prepared the breakfast were amazing. Thank you

Lovely friendly place to stay, great location to get to the beach easily. Breakfast is great and staff super friendly. Great place to stay and meet fellow travellers. We had a private room and it was gigantic. Great stay!

Breakfast was great. Location was good. Staff was incredible. I have been to all three Mayan Monkeys and this is by far the best! Gorgeous property and very clean and fresh rooms. Stunning. Loved every moment of it.

Not about the hostel just a tip: We rode bikes to the cenotes along the highway, would recommend not doing this and getting a collectivo instead as the roads are a bit sketchy with big semi trailers flying past.

Really nice hostel, felt a bit like a resort. Breakfast was good. Close to shops and a long walk to the beach but a short bike ride.

The receptionist!!!! They were all a bit unfriendly but especially that one girl with the short hair made us feel she hated us?! She was really rude, unhelpful, down looking and really made the stay a little bit uncomfortable

Didn’t love the location. It’s not especially close to downtown Tulum or the beach so would probably stay elsewhere in Tulum.

Fun party vibe hostel, good layout and plenty of communal areas. Great pool and fun evening entertainment and a good list of activities throughout the day. Clean rooms and plenty of bathrooms/shower space.

The reception staff however was not too helpful, when I wanted to extend my stay they would pretend the place is fully booked when it was not. (I was able to book online when they would tell me I can't book anymore direct) Same thing happened to friends. I also ended up in rooms with staff from the reception which was not great but I guess that is not on them. Bar servings were a bit slow

The place was great, clean and modern. It was my first time trying a hostal so quite happy I got such a nice one. However the bar staff is all great, very friendly and make great drinks & food

Music can be loud sometimes. But in any case, it is a party hostel.

they make you pay an environmental fee when you arrive which isn’t stated in the booking despite booking.com claiming all taxes etc were included. staff were quite unhelpful, took forever to do anything and never apologised for the wait, you literally had to demand things in order to be taken any notice of, if they improved this this hostel would be really hard to fault!

nice facilities, pool was lovely and always clean, sunloungers etc were great! beds were comfy (great pillows) and had good amounts of privacy. showers in our room were a little run down and a bit smelly but otherwise hot & okay. the hostel is in between the beach and town and had a few really nice restaurants close by so you’ve got everything you need! breakfast is also good and worth it for £4 a day :)
