Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomAfter a bumpy start we found that the location makes up for initial concerns over the greeting. The bar at the beach has decent food and drink .. if not the cheapest it does give a service on the beach. The booked swinging beach beds are a must

BrazilI believe that the announcement should be more clear that it is inside the Jaguar park, with extra fees. However, it was a great experience anyway.

United KingdomBrilliant. Definitely go for the Mayan lodges over the seafront tents - much better rooms and often the platform balconies have a better sea view than the tents as you are blocked by plants for the tents. Staff fabulous, didn’t do the yoga or bits but lots of offer. Toilets and showers kept clean and good cosmetics including conditioner. Felt very safe and secure as a solo traveller. Taxis were also fine and hotel can book them for you if getting bus into the ADO or popping up to town.

United StatesI didn't understand when I booked it that I would also have to pay the park entrance for our stay, as well as the daily park admission.
Exceeded my expectations. All great. Food at the restaurant was excellent. Enjoyed the morning yoga class- she did a terrific job. Enjoyed renting bikes and biking into Tulum. Enjoyed walking the beach to try the other hotel restaurants, as well. The Tulum Mayan ruins were within walking distance. I wish we'd been given a map/list of nearby sites when we checked in. Wifi was only at the restaurant/beach/reception areas and not in my tent but that didn't bother me. A/C in tents worked great- very comfortable. Bed was comfortable.

United StatesShower was cold. And we were cold in our yurt at night. We had the ac off and windows closed but wish there was more than the sheet and thin blanket to put on the bed. Had we stayed more than one night, we would have asked for more. Wish the outdoor lights were turned off at night.
Stunning location and loved walking through sandy forested paths to get everywhere.

United StatesMy biggest disappointment was the restaurant. None of the food I ordered stood out; everything was very average. What really frustrated me, though, was the attitude of the staff and the poor service. I had to repeat every request twice because the staff would forget the first time, and I often had to chase them down to remind them. Some staff members seemed like they genuinely disliked their job, while others were nice but still lacked focus and attention. I’m usually not picky about service—I worked in the industry myself back in the day—but what really bothered me was being forced to leave a 15% or 20% tip after such terrible service. It’s an American tipping system that doesn’t live up to American service standards. In the U.S., when you pay a 20% tip, you typically receive excellent, kind, and attentive service, making it feel well-deserved. At IKAL, each time I was required to leave a tip, I felt like I was being robbed. I truly hope the hotel management retrains their staff regularly and helps them understand the connection between good service and good tip
I stayed in a glamping tent and was glad I chose a garden tent—it had shade and was much quieter than the beach, which was incredibly noisy due to the wind. The tent was comfortable for one person, with a good bed and AC. The facilities were clean, and the cleaning team did a great job maintaining the bathrooms and showers.

AustriaNo information in advance that you bc are not allowed to bring any plastic bags or bottles at the Nationalpark entry. We were forced to dump freshly bought water and snacks. Would have been better to be warned. But the staff promised to change their information policy accordingly.

CanadaThe food was not great and expensive, but other than that we loved it here.
The tents were very comfortable and well air conditioned, and the shared bathrooms were always clean. Yoga was awesome and beach area was clean and quiet. The Matcha Mama on site was nice to have but their prices were higher than the Matcha Mama location on the Tulum beach street.

United StatesFabulous location, tents, food, beach, everything. We only had time to stay one night but it was magical. It’s within the park so much less congested than the other side of Tulum beach. So gorgeous. Staff super nice.

MexicoTents on the beachfront do not face the sea and are not worth the extra money. Would’ve preferred staying in a cabana in the shadow inside the garden. Be aware there’s Hidden costs when ordering food in Tulum, the suggested 15% tip is a minimum, which is expected no matter what, which I believe is illegal although applied throughout many restaurants. activities are generally quite expensive
Gorgeous location on probably one of the most beautiful Beaches in the world. Nice Athmosphere, in the ikal camp, that lives up to the expectation of the most spiritual yogi. very good food, not cheap though. Onsite activities as temazcal and daily yoga classes make this an ideal resort for those seeking to connect with nature and the beautiful sea.

United StatesThe property is located in the park and you are not allowed food inside so you either have to leave and go in to town which is far or you spend money at places on the beach. The restaurant is expensive. Our tent didn’t have a rain tarp. We didn’t get wet at all but the outside of the tent is covered in mold. When it rains the sand has a urine smell by the tents. The bathroom is a bit far from the tents. None of these things bothered us much for our short stay!
The camp is located inside the park at a beautiful beach club. You are a very short walk to the water with access to lounge chairs, hanging beds, volleyball, yoga and a pool. The tent is clean and they clean it each day.

United KingdomThe food and drink at the restaurant was pretty expensive for Mexico but I think probably normal for beach-side in Tulum (~130mxn for a bottle of beer was the cheapest alcoholic drink to get). And was also delicious and a gorgeous setting so worth it if you have the money! This isn't at fault of the hotel but a heads up about the location: The hotel is within a nature reserve meaning you have to pay every time you leave and come back in (~60mxn). Because it's within the nature reserve this means in the evenings there aren't many restaurants/bars open (in early November only 3 restaurants available, all very expensive). To leave the area to go to the town or Tulum beach (where there is more happening and cheaper food/drink options) most people get a taxi but this is very expensive (350-400mxn) for only a 15min drive. There is an option to walk 35mins down the road and get on a local collectivo bus into town which is ~30-40mxn/p, or if you're lucky then hitch-hike with other tourists who had been visiting the beach for the day. Overall not ideal for us as we were backpacking and on a bit of a budget, but we made it work! Having said that then if you're looking for a remote peaceful stay and you have the money to spend on nice hotels then this would be perfect.
Beautiful tents next to a gorgeous beach, tents were clean, roomy and comfortable with cute decor and Aircon machine that worked surprisingly well! Staff were very helpful and the facilities were lovely. You could do 1x free yoga session per person which was a nice touch, and lots of other sessions/activities for people to do if interested.

ItalyThe prices at the restaurant/bar are very very high, but you are in Tulum in the natural reserve, so it is everywhere like this.
We loved everything, the tent is super nice and the beach is amazing. The guests can use the sun bed on the beach if they are not rented, but when we were there (August) we could use them all day. Access to pool and beach included. There is AC in the tent so you are never too hot. Shower works well and they are clean, as well as the bathrooms. The staff is very nice, Alan and Lina have been very kind with us, we did the checkin at 11PM.
