Germanyit was a bit pricey, nothing strange for Cancún. And the air conditioning was a tiny bit loud at night but nothing too dramatic.
The beach was gorgeous and super clean. Food was great and the pools were just what we needed. the staff was of course so friendly and helpful and the food was great value for the price

United StatesAir conditioning does not cool the rooms. Even had a tech come look at the a/c in our room and he said that's what we get. The temp in the room never cooled it off enough to register a change on the thermostat. Gym was lack luster at best - I've seen better in a best western.
Location is great! Beach front is fantastic! Service is top notch! Tons of choices for food but quality isn't anything to write home about, it's just ok. Our room was very comfortably furnished and laid out. Grounds are beautiful!

United StatesI didn’t like that I had the room on the back side of the property where they run all the carts through so it was very loud in the aspect. As well as you can hear everything going on in all the rooms at all hours.
I liked all the access to the food and the shops across the street with the pharmacy and a 7-Eleven. Having the beach at your fingertips was really great.

CanadaTerrible experience with the rooms and major SECURITY/SAFETY concerns!!! In the first room that I stayed in, the safety box didn't work! So I had to carry my passport, money and other valuables with me. .And it didn't have a view of anything. So they switched me to a different room the next day. The second room had a very strong chemical oder. They tried to get rid of the oder, but they couldn't. So they switched me to another room the next day. In the third room I stayed in, the dead bolt lock didn't work. When they sent a maintenance person, he said he couldn't fix it, so I had to wait another day. The next maintenance person was said to have fixed it, but when I tried to enter the room, the key card didn't work! So, they gave me new reprogrammed cards, but those didn't work either! Next, they sent hotel staff to try opening the door, and they were unsuccessful. Therefore, I was locked out of my room for about 3 hours. Finally a maintenance person was able to open the door and still the deadbolt wasn't fixed. The next day, they sent another maintenance worker who was said to have fixed the deadbolt. I was happy,... only to be again disappointed to find that the key card didn't work at all! In fact, it didn't require the use of ANY card, and ANYONE could enter my room without using a key card!!! Finally on the morning I was.leaving (today), they sent another maintenance guy who fixed it. OMG, never in my 40 years of travel have I ever experienced this!
The staff were fantastic! In particular, I would like to recognize the following staff: Alex, Tony, and Thalia who were wonderful. The location is close to a beautiful beach!! The Riu White Party was awesome!! 🌟

AustraliaI am writing to express my disappointment with the uncleanliness and unhygienic circumstances of the room during my recent stay at Riu Playacar Mexico from the 1st of January to the 13th January. Unfortunately, the condition of the room did not meet the standards we had expected, nor those advertised by your hotel. My family and I arranged a 10 years reunion. We had all come from different parts of the world to meet and chose the Riu playacar to celebrate this milestone event. Based on the rating of the hotel being a '5 star' we decided to book. Upon arrival to the hotel, staff were extremely abrupt upon check in, no proper warm welcome or explanation of the facilities or how the hotel functions. We were literally yelled at when asked to clarify some questions about the all inclusive benefits. Most of our family members had never experienced an all inclusive and were first time visitors to Mexico so we had to figure it out everything ourselves. There were many unhygienic and unethical experiences in all our rooms and all our experiences. Staff the whole time were abrupt and extremely rude, the best way to describe our treatment was like being on school camp. Food being recycled from one day to another, food was poor quality and cold at all times especially breakfast and lunch buffet. The unhygienic food handling was something we have never seen especially in a 5 star hotel. We are all well travelled business people who travel often around the world and never have experienced such low, poor and unhygienic standards. The fan in our room did not work the whole time we also experienced a dangerous Scorpian in the room. - on the second day toilet seat broke - old springy/mouldy smelling matress that needed to be changed (at this point we were only on day 2 and I had discussed our concerns of the hotel with Samuel the manager.

Unfortunately, the quality of the accommodations and overall service fell far below the standards we expected from a property advertised as a 5-star hotel. Our stay was meant to be a milestone 10-year family reunion, with relatives traveling from various parts of the world, including myself, Stephanie Ibrahim, James Whitfield, and Ricardo Neira. We specifically chose RIU Playacar based on its purported reputation. However, what should have been a memorable celebration was instead marred by numerous incidents of uncleanliness, poor service, and substandard facilities. Below are specific issues we encountered: Cleanliness and Hygiene 1. Room Conditions: • Mold was visible throughout the rooms, including bedding and walls. • Towels and bed linens had a musty, moldy smell. • Several rooms experienced significant maintenance issues: • James Whitfield’s room had a non-functional fan and even a dangerous scorpion present. • Joseph Gittany's toilet seat broke on the second day. • Stephanie Ibrahim lacked hot water, causing delays for an important pre-booked event. • Stephanie also suffered a skin rash, likely caused by unclean towels. 2. Food Quality and Safety: • Food was consistently cold, of poor quality, and appeared to be recycled between meals. • Food handling practices were visibly unhygienic, far below expectations for a 5-star establishment. 3. Shared Spaces: • The gym was filthy, with an unbearable smell making it unusable. • Public restrooms, particularly near the bar, were in a deplorable state. 4.

ArgentinaThe facilities are good, but the ceramic floor makes it slippery. I don't understand why they use slippery tiles only to put up cones later warning you about the risk of slipping. I had to change rooms because the bed wasn't a king/queen; it was two beds pushed together. They gave us another room where the air conditioning couldn't keep up (I set it to 18°C and was still hot). The fan made noise at first, and one day I even found a cockroach wandering around after my Girlfriend woke me up screaming at 3 AM.
The food was excellent, except for the desserts, which leave much to be desired—except for the fruit, which is the only dessert worth eating. The staff and entertainers were very friendly.
