Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandThe room seemed to be pretty dated. The sink was leaking a bit which caused the floor underneath to be a bit wet. I wasn't aware beforehand that you are not allowed to smoke on the top floor balconies due to the risk of palm wood(or something like that) catching fire. This made the balcony for me useless. The balcony is also pretty small, and with two chairs on it, it's already in full capacity. The mattress seems to be a little old, and for me personally it was too soft. It's very big though. Sometimes the drains start to smell bad, especially when you start to use them and water runs down, but that's often the case in mexico. So i recommend sleeping with the bathroom door closed. The bathroom is also pretty small, but thats no big deal. The wifi does often lose internet connection, but i'm not sure if that's only in this hotel or in the whole region. The room was hard to ventilate due to mosquito nets and the curtains. You can move the curtains aside, but then you lose privacy since other passing guests can then see into your room.
I think value for money is alright. I got a room pretty spontaneously, it has everything you need. Enough place to unpack your stuff, i really appreciate the mosquito nets on the windows. Even though they look pretty dated, they work well. The staff was very helpful and especially the lady at the reception always greeted me with a smile. They provide free water to fill up your bottle. In the room i was in, i always had warm water to shower(also at night time), despite what other comments were suggesting. So maybe they have improved on that. The location is good in terms of not being in the middle of the town. So you only hear some birds and roosters in the morning, which is apparently almost everywhere in mexico. Of course it also depends on how well the other guests respect the quiet times, i was in luck. And if i woke up in the morning due to brightness or noise, i just put the blindfold on and noise cancelling headphones, so no big deal at all. I'd consider coming again

United KingdomThe beds are very uncomfortable, too soft. We stayed in 2 different rooms, the one upstairs was quiet but we moved to a room downstairs for the last night and it was very loud, can hear everything upstairs, we were right by the stairs and people walking up and down was loud. The woman at reception is miserable
The location is good, close to town. The area is quiet. The rooms and bathroom is fine, clean. There was hot water in the shower and the Wi-Fi worked well. The pillows were good

CroatiaThe cleanliness of the room itself, the pillows and mattress seemed to be stale with the smell. The bathroom with the toilet smells strongly of drains - although I attribute this to the location itself and the poor drainage system and sewage in general in Mexico. So the bathroom door must be kept closed. It is not as quiet as we expected it to be, because the guests do not respect the rules, so there was shouting and banging after the allowed hours, and there is no one to warn them because the reception is open for a certain time through the day.
Great location - 15 min walk to the Playa Mazunte or Playa San Agustinillo, very close to the restaraunts and cafes

I liked the location and my bed was super comfortable and the room was clean. Nice to have a wee balcony to sit out on. No AC but the fan worked perfectly.

AustraliaNot a lot of space to hang towel or bathers. By the end of our stay the shower was very sandy because we were spending every day at the beach so it would be great if the hostel had an outdoor shower that could be used to rinse before going into your room!
Clean room and facitilities, walking distance to the beach, good wifi. No aircon but a good fan. Staff were lovely.

United KingdomIt would be ideal if the water in the kitchen was changed more regularly.
The room was really spacious, clean and had mosquito covers on all windows and doors so you could have air come in and not get bitten so no bites the whole stay! The staff were really friendly and the kitchen space was great to cook in also. We worked from the rooms as there is a little chair and desk, the wifi is spotty in all of mazunte but was enough to take calls

United StatesThe water pressure in the shower was very low and difficult to get clean and like everywhere in Mazunte, there was no hot water. Construction was loud.
Really good price for having a private room and bathroom and terrace. The staff was very kind. The location is on a quiet street a close walk to everything in town. I felt safe and comfortable.

MexicoThe place I think is having a renovation or some sort of it so it's a little bit messy and there are parts that are under construction like the front parking spot, but I can understand that. What I really didn't like is the noise in the morning, I thought by being not in the main street it was gonna be really calm, but there's cars and motorcycles passing by, the water faucet for cleaning was outside my room and they use it really early and it's very noisy, also there's roosters and chickens nearby so for all of this I couldn't sleep very well.
It's just good, you have everything you need, the internet is fast and steady, there's great places to eat really near (I recommend Marea Alta) but the beach where I went and the most crowded (Rinconcito) it's 10 minutes away. What I really liked was the blackout curtains.

IrelandDidn't have any facilities to make tea and coffee. A small table with a kettle and cups in reception would be nice. Especially as there is no kitchen. They need a reading light in the bedrooms as only a big main light is available - not relaxing or cozy at all. Very expensive for what you get.
The bed was very big and comfortable. The room was also big and the air condition was very good.

United StatesThe location was a bit far from everything else but when the whole town is so tiny this isn't a big deal. The little patio was a little odd because it just looked at a wall, but whatever, just walk to the beach!
THE AIR CONDITIONING was PERFECT for this weather. The bed was comfortable and huge. The staff were friendly and offered filtered water. It was exactly what I needed for a weekend in Mazunte.

United StatesThe rooms aren’t very comfortable, bathrooms are cramped you will run into walls, doors, or the toilet trying to move around. Spotty water temperature. The bed is very stiff, very not comfortable, the same you find in typical budget LatAm spots. There’s a billion mosquitos in the courtyard, making it and the porches unusable. My room also often smelled like rotten eggs at night. I thought it was a gas leak, unsure if it is. Generally, it’s an okay for an option for the price but also not really I left my stay 5 days early
It’s a generally cute somewhat budget option that is very well located with a nice staff, also AC.

MexicoThe towels provided were not clean, they were old and didn’t smell good. The property does not invest in the quality of the items provided. The personal was not helpful and didn’t make us feel welcome. The room was too small to be a doble room. Only one little muster of shampoo was provided for 4 people for 2 days.
The property was clean.

ChileThe night of our check-in was an unpleasant experience. We arrived from Oaxaca past midnight. Our phone was dead, and we had no way to communicate. When we arrived at the hostel, very tired, the man at the reception charged us 100 Mexican pesos in cash because we arrived late and said that the money was for the person who was supposed to give us the key late because we interrupted his sleep. We argued that it was unnecessary and that he could have left instructions for us to check in on our own. We felt it was an abuse, not because of the amount of money, but because of the way it was requested, and this was not written anywhere. It was totally unilateral, with no possibility to cancel the booking at that precise moment and at midnight. Unfortunately, they refused to cancel our stay, and we were forced to stay in a place for 4 nights where we did not feel comfortable.
I liked that the room was minimalist. Good bed and good shower. Great air conditioning.

CanadaA few small touches would have made a big difference. A soap dish. A lamp on the nightstand so that there wasn't just one ceiling lightbulb with no shade on it. A bit of a tour of the grounds so we could've found out where the shared kitchen was; a small fridge in the room would have made a huge difference. The water pressure in the shower was very minimal, resulting in needing to take longer showers to actually get shampoo/conditioner out of your hair. I believe that between the time of booking and our stay the room photos had been updated on the website, so we definitely did not get what we were expecting.
It appears as the new owners seem to be making some improvements
