Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

When I took a shower the water was really cold.
Good location. You have your own space, it is like a capsule, you have curtains, etc.

Nice common room, not very social though. Bathroom/ showers are tiny but clean. Staff: reserved, not unfriendly.

This was by far one of the best places I’ve stayed for the price I paid. You can tell and see that things are cleaned often. The common space to sit and chill is such an inviting place with lots of natural light! The beds were comfy and came with a fan, light, plug, and hook! I loved that they had lockers large enough for bigger backpacks and that the lockers were right next to the bed so you didn’t have to go far. I felt very comfortable and safe here and would 100% stay here again! Thanks so much for making my stay in Tanah Rata so pleasant. ☺️

Shame the blinds weren't dark when you have light on in your pod as you can see through but privacy is fine when your light is off

The hot shower in the bigger shower was not working properly, the smaller bathroom was very narrow because it had also the toilette inside, otherwise good hostel

Sadly, there was no laundry machine, and the WiFi signal was not strong enough to reach the Sleepboxes in the back of the room.
Bricks is a very cosy place. The staff was very helpful, also when it comes to tour bookings. It was clean, and the Sleepboxes provided a good amount of privacy for a hostel. They also have a little community area and a pool table.

Small shower. No cabin shower . No interaction with staff, often invisible. Regarding local trails, very disappointed. Not worth trip there
Quiet dorm, bit narrow corridor. Large lockers. Good aircon. Table pool in other room. Good free tea bags

There really isn't anything to say.
This was one of the better stays I've had in Malaysia. The staff were nice. The common area was very good and the location superb...walking distance to everything I like. Very clean hostel.

Bathroom facilities were fine for us but the dorm was only half full during our stay, I wonder if it might be a little crowded if the dorm was full.
Nice capsule dorm beds with charging point, reading light and blind. Large lockers. Clean facilities and nice common area (with free pool table). Good location in Tanah Rata. Make sure you check the address, we first went to a guesthouse a few blocks over with a similar name as Google maps has the hostel address incorrect.

There are only two toilets on the first floor for about 15 people. There's no table or desk if you need to work with your laptop, there are only cushions on the floor.
The mattress and room are comfortable. Spacious locker. Cleanliness was very good in common areas, toilets and bedrooms. Tea for free and a water dispenser to refill. Excellent location in Tanah Rata. Friendly staff.

They don’t have facilities for towels, shampoo, toothpaste. This is very basic needs. The room temperature was little bit higher than outside that’s why the comfortability was not good enough .
