Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThere are not any kitchen facilities but hot water is available for the preparation of tea, coffee and instant oatmeal. Management should set the AC temperature (at 22-23°C) in the dorm rooms and then remove the remote control as some young travellers commandeer the controls and seem (somehow? - the logic defies my understanding) to think that freezing at 16°C is both enjoyable and "green/eco-friendly"
This hostel is located in a lovely heritage building in a very convenient location. The hostel is quiet, clean, spacious and well run. Staff are friendly and helpful. The dorm' beds are very private and well appointed. Communal bathroom is satisfactory, but is located on the ground floor whereas the dorm' beds are located on the upper floor. This is not really an inconvenience unless one requires à 3am bathroom visit. There is a common area on the upper floor, two on the ground floor and an outdoor area as well. Many options to relax and read or web-surf.

United KingdomDidn’t expect the room to not have a window and there was quite a damp feel and smell in the room, the air con definitely helped though.
The family are soo lovely. Let us check in early. Changed water and towels for us. There’s a water filter there so no need to buy bottled. It’s easy walking distance to lots of food places and street art. The showers great !! One of the best I’ve had in SE Asia!! There’s also a great food shack right outside and the food was SO good. We got told we’d get a welcome drink if we showed our hotel card but they didn’t, and the food shack staff said we’d get 10% off the bill but this also didn’t happen, we didn’t mind though as the food was so good and staff so lovely too.

MalaysiaIt would be nice if the sign has Chinese
It is close to the night market and not far from the commercial center. The reason why it is rated high is because of everyone's experience. It is a good youth hostel

SingaporeSide entrance has many food stalls, so need to walk thru the charkwayteow 'wok hei' etc - hehe. tho can also try coming fr the other side and use the main entrance instead.
Location was great - nearby to eating places, good for exploring this part of Georgetown on foot. Near to eating places frequented by the locals, enjoy the vibes. Side entrance area has many food stalls - you pop into the.cendol 'shop' opposite for a seat and they will bring your food orders there. Carpark area just next to hotel - get a coupon fr the hotel to park for free. Reception was friendly. Room has no window, but this also cuts down the noise fr outside. OK for us, not there for the view

MalaysiaThe bathroom (including toilet) is on the smaller side. Walls are not fully sound proof. If you’re very particular about these, then this might not be the place for you. For me personally, nothing to complain.
Location is central to everything. All major attractions such as Armenian Street, Kapitan Keling Mosque, KOMTAR, Chowrasta etc, and top eateries such as Makan Pagi, Air Tingkap, Teochew Chendol, Lefty Char Kuew Tiow etc are within walking distance of 5-20mins only. Hotel itself is clean, comfortable and the staff are courteous and welcoming.

MalaysiaFirstly, the room isn't soundproof. So you hear everyone talking outside very clearly. Secondly, the wall spotlight caused us discomfort. Lastly, maybe the hotel management should improve the bathroom drainage system.

United KingdomThe bathroom cabin things were small and pretty awkward to use in the ‘ensuite’ rooms. I think their old plumbing is set up for shared facilities and they’ve tried to accommodate guests who want private bathrooms. Pillows too high!
Great old colonial style hotel on a very atmospheric street, walkable to everywhere in Georgetown. Excellent location. Rooms a good size with good air con. Good to have free water. Daily cleaning (sometimes left more hairs than picked up but appreciated the effort!) Nice and quiet,
