That I couldn't stay longer

I needed a place to stay in Rivas last minute and came here. I was welcomed warmly and given a nice sized room with a comfortable bed. I had some good conversation with some young travelers from Canada, and got to explore the surrounding area, which is a wonderful neighborhood. In the morning, I was given some good coffee, and relaxed in the backyard. This place isn't fancy, but it is comfortable, and clean, and is filled with warmth. It's run by a nice married couple, and Max even drove me to the ferry port for a very fair price. They are beautiful people. I will definitely come here next time I am in Rivas.

The room was large and the family that run the hostel are very sweet and welcoming. It is cheap so a good stop for one night, the kitchen is well equipped but can be busy!

The family are delightful and super helpful. The rooms are basic but clean and with a clean en suite shower. The shared space is comfortable and welcoming whether you are sitting in a rocking chair or buried in your computer at one of the large wooden tables. I stayed before and after Ometepe. I’d say it’s extremely good value and a very pleasant experience.

Nice views from terraces. Friendly staff. Beautiful resraurant/ relax area with plants and hammocks. Altagracia is a very pleasant Village and hardly any tourists. Local cummunity is most friendly. Take a bus from the port to Altagracia in 1 hour.

Close to the bus station. We felt so welcomed by the sweet couple that owns it. We made our booking just a few minutes before our arrival and max was working on our room. He quickly and kindly wrapped things up and let us know this was our home! He gave us food recommendations and told us about the area. He got to practice his English and us our Spanish. He was kind enough to drive us to the bus station the next morning. This was one of my warmest and welcomed stays.

Max and Marta are th nicest people ever, trying really hard to make this hostel a comfortable place to stay and succeeding in doing so. The rooms are big and clean, kitchen was good. Great place to stay before going to or when coming from Ometepe!

Nothing, but I recommend wearing earplugs, because there are lots of dogs around barking at night (like in most places in Nicaragua)

Friendly, local owners. Cheap private room. You feel part of the family :) Very basic, but has everything you need. Comfortable bed, perfect for one night before/after you go to Ometepe/Popoyo or SJDS.

Adorable couple that was very helpful. We didn’t get exactly the accommodation booked but they were arranging and moved around beds so we could still have 2 beds as booked. Quite basic facilities but great value and super close to the ferry to Ometepe! Good WiFi and secure parking

Weird issue with payment at the end (asked for more than the booking rate). It was resolved. Rooms were a tad warm, but there is a fan.

Really neat hostal in Rivas, the rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. Max is awesome, a great wealth of local knowledge and an all-round fantastic host. If you are lucky enough to come in mango season, you can taste the mangoes right off the tree. Parking could fit a loaded Land Cruiser. Center of Rivas is a 20 minute walk. Restaurants and eateries nearby.

Lovely spot to stay in Rivas. Our room was huge and everything clean. Nice sheets and towels, comfy bed, fan. They are still working on the property and the value for money reflects this. The hosts are so nice and always concerned about our comfort. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Everything was good for us :)

The price was very good and the room had everything we needed, including a cord to hang out clothes. It is not a fancy place. We liked the vibes and the atmosphere. The family that runs the hostel is super nice and helpful.

There was also a single bed in our room but it would have been very uncomfortable to sleep on if there had been three of us. The room is made of concrete and so is very hot, especially with the door shut. There is an open window onto the dining area outside but for privacy we had to close the curtain and so not much draught got in. They did bring us an extra fan and with two fans directed at the bed we did sleep pretty well to be fair. The water was off when we arrived but once it came back on the pressure was good.

The owners were wonderful people. Within minutes of us arriving they had moved the furniture by the gate and got our motorbikes into the property behind screens and behind the locked gate, with the furniture back in place. Talk about secure parking. It was excellent. The kitchen area was very clean and we were able to cook ourselves a decent meal. The room was very big with a huge desk as well. We didn’t use the coffee machine or fridge but they were clean too if we’d wanted to. The bathroom was good. We had soap, clean towels, plenty of toilet paper and it was all very clean. The double bed in the room was comfortable. There was a nice sitting area outside where we chatted with other travellers. The hosts were very interested in our travels and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and we were happy. I feel that the review from Andrew from the USA is unfair as it is exactly like the photos show. It is not a five star hotel. It is a hostel with very basic rooms, run by some of the loveliest people we have met on our travels.
