Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyI’ve travelled over Nepal for over a month now and have stayed at 8 different hotels (while being on a budget) and I can safely state that Flying Yak has the most fancy-looking and comfortable rooms so far. The staff is really nice too :)

NetherlandsThere was one shower for the dorms so if it gets busier there might be a wait, but if you have time to relax it won't be a problem
Nice dorm with 6 beds, not too crowded. AC in room so comfortable sleeping. Clean facilities and very friendly and helpful staff. Very good place for breakfast (and other food) next door and you are right in thamel with a lot of shops and bars close by, lots to do!

United KingdomMaybe some coffee sachets in the room would be nice.
Our bus from Lumbini was delayed by 5 hours so we couldn't stay at our original hotel on the other side of town. Arriving at Thamel late we made the decision to book with Flying Yak as we knew exactly what we'd get: clean rooms, reasonable prices, hot shower and great service. Only 1 night this time around but they were as helpful as ever.

United KingdomHousekeeping was missing, not sure why as there were cleaning staff on hand, but our room wasn't cleaned in the 3 days we were there. Might be something you have to specifically request.
We stayed here when they first opened 3 years ago, and booked again when we returned in July 2022. The rooms are big, comfortable, reasonable priced, clean with A/C. Bathroom is better then average, but can do with a shower curtain to control splash-age. The manager Santosh is super helpful and friendly and well connected with local businesses for information. If you're staying here definitely find a few minutes to speak to him. Lastly I wanted to mention that the restaurant next door, Avacado, does really good coffee. Hotel coffee can be hit and miss, so having decent coffee, which can aparently be brought to your room if requested is most welcomed! Recommend!

The property is new, and the mattresses are among the best I’ve tried in my years of staying in dorms. Air-conditioning is controlled by the guests of the dorm rooms, so one can sleep through morning and afternoon with comfort. Santosh is the manager and he and his staff give good recommendations and tours for Kathmandu and around Nepal. The hotel is in Thamel Road but in a quiet corner. Good location.

NetherlandsI requested a double bed, but got two single beds. I did not ask for another room, as two single beds was fine for me too. The internet was not as good as I hoped, it was cutting in and out sometimes.
The staff was polite, the room was in a central location but was still quiet and the room was nicely decorated and clean. The restaurant next door had good food and friendly staff, and the staff of the hotel was helpful in arranging my mandatory covid-test.

United KingdomWe stayed in the Flying Yak a while ago, but it was definitely unforgettable experience. Their service is exceptional and rooms are very nice and clean and have everything you need. Santosh and everyone working in the hotel took great care of us and went over and beyond when we experienced some health problems. We will love to come back when we’re in Kathmandu.

Czech RepublicOften times there would be a shortage of cold water in the shower ( I know weird ), which was always fixed immediately after contacting the reception. If you decide to get the laundry done at the hotel, make sure to do it early in the morning, otherwise, you will end up paying for a fast wash and that costs a fortune.
Our room was very comfortable given the price and the location was also perfect and I've stayed in a few places around KTM in the last couple of years.

IsraelThe only problems I had is that the room is too small for 6 people, I would expect it to be a room for 4 people (even if the price is a little higher). And, one time the sheets were not clean, but has been changed after I asked to change them.
I have stayed in the dorms room. It's new , generally clean and very nice hotel. So In general it was good price per performance.
