Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe location is a ~25min from Thamel centre and this can feel a bit far to walk alone at night. I must note that I did always feel safe when walking back each night.
The staff are incredibly helpful. Santos especially went above and beyond to help me come up with day itineraries, and change a domestic flight time. They were incredibly inviting at all times, and very helpful!

United KingdomI struggled to find it when I first arrived, although noticed later on that there were signposts to the property, I just came from a different direction. Taxi driver didn't know where to take me. The dorm bed had the hardest mattress I've ever slept on, but a good duvet and pillow made up for it and I was comfy enough. I sat on a friend's bed who got a private double room and that was way comfier! So maybe go private if you're not on a tight budget. Dorm room is also quite cramped, so not much space for putting stuff (had to keep my luggage under the bed). But I guess you get what you pay for, and I was happy to compromise as the service was awesome. Bathroom gets soaked after someone showers, so bring some flip flops or sliders with you. Cleaning could be improved. Dorm room needs dusting, floor cleaned and bins emptied daily (same for bathroom). The ladder up to the top bunk needs attaching to the bed at the bottom, as it swings out and feels a little scary and makes lots of noise.
This is a genuine family run business, so I wouldn't even call the team members "staff". They really go above and beyond to make you feel like part of their family. We were so grateful to be able to celebrate Dashain with the family, it really enhanced our experience in Kathmandu. Great value for money. Yummy food and beers available. Good curtains in the dorm beds to give you some privacy, as well as a plug socket, light and hooks by the bed. Lockers in the room. Towel and unlimited bottled water provided, which was a really nice touch. Also bar soap on the shelf outside the bathroom. Comfy pillow and duvet. Seating area outside with tables and chairs, and nice decor with plants and typical Nepalese flags. Complementary tea/coffee in the morning was another nice touch, and also the option to have breakfast (maybe included with some room rates?)

United KingdomIt seemed that it was at an end of a maze of roads to start but after one or two trips I found it very easy to navigate both too and from.
The staff are great here, very chatty and willing to help you with almost anything. The breakfast was amazing and served good food all day. I had a private room that was clean and relatively well soundproofed. I enjoyed the fact that this was outside thamel but at the same time a close walk away. The area seemed safe in the evening.

BelgiumWe stayed a total of three nights at Gurung's home and definitely left Kathmandu feeling satisfied with the accommodation. The courtyard is super cozy and the breakfast more than fine. The rooms were also fully equipped, except for a shower that was not always that hot. But that turned out to be a problem in 80% of Nepali hostels and hotels. As in all of Nepal, the Gurung family shower their customers with offers, for activities and transportation. Sometimes that was a bit unnecessary for us, but for other people it can come in handy. During our trekking through Langtang Valley, we could also leave our unnecessary stuff and backpack behind. Always convenient. So overall, we were definitely satisfied with our contact with this hospitable family and our stay in Gurung's home.
