Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaNot the property’s fault;some guests are soooo loud and you can hear everything and can’t sleep 😩 Hotel desperately NEEDS to put up a sign telling guests to “Be quiet please, other guests are sleeping!”
Awesome location with a wonderful rooftop!! Wonderful staff that are so friendly and genuine-also didn’t hassle us for tips which is so appreciated!!!! Plus they let us leave our bag whilst we went trekking!!! The room was super comfy, shower good and it didn’t smell as bad as a lot of local bathrooms!! Extremely good value for money!!

ChinaMost of the hotel's floors are being remodeled, there will be some noise during the day, and some public spaces have some decoration materials piling up, affecting the senses. Also the bath water is not hot enough.
Since my flight was relatively early and I didn't have time to have breakfast at the hotel.I asked staff of receptio if I could change to eating at a certain time on the day of check-in, and the result was very satisfactory, and I enjoyed a delicious dinner consisting of momo and special tea on the terrace on the top floor. Thank you so much. There is an elevator! In Tamil of Kathmandu, this is an absolute plus.

United StatesThe hotel is a bit old and rundown. However they are in the middle of renovating it so it'll be a lot better in the future. Depending on the room, it can get noisy from the street crowds. They were able to switch my room though.
Loved the accommodating and pleasant staff. It's a family run business who puts a lot of heart and soul into the service. Special thanks to David, his father, and Mina! Convenient location in the heart of Thamel too.

United KingdomWater not particularly warm, but was tolerable. Room was a bit tired and could do with sprucing up, but was clean and this is not particularly unusual for Nepal.
Room was large with plenty of space, two armchairs, a table, kettle (Inc. Tea/coffee/sugar) fridge and balcony. The bed was large, clean and comfortable. Extra fleecy blankets are available in the room. There was a TV in the room but I didn't turn it on so cannot report what channels were available. Staff very friendly and try hard to please. Plenty of free loo roll and water if you ask for it. There is WiFi but not strong. Rooftop terrace makes a nice sunny location for breakfast. Food served all day. Location very good. Bit noisy from the street but it is Thamel. Noise dies down from late evening until about 6am. Good value for money. Can leave bag while trekking. Will stay here again.

United KingdomThe staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was big and the air conditioning was very welcome! I felt safe staying here as a solo traveller. The hotel is located right in the centre of Thamel near the shops and restaurants. The cafe across the road, Sunflower Joshi, has amazing food at very reasonable prices. I stayed for 2 weeks and I would stay here again, they made me feel very welcome :)

Czech RepublicThe name of the hotel is not Hotel Happy Home. As no one knows where it is, it was really hard to find. The number I got with the booking did not work. The staff cannot speak English so it was hard to communicate. At first, the hotel tried to downgrade me and gave me a much worse room than I paid for. I wonder why they did not at least apologize. If you are on the highest floor, you will be woken up with metal chairs dragged on the floor - due to that I was not able to get proper sleep.
The location of the hotel is great - right in the centre of everything. The rooftop view is amazing although it tends to be closed in the evenings.

CanadaBathroom could be updated. Towels could be replaced.
This was the nicest hotel in this price range in Kathmandu. We looked at six other places, none of the others compared for location, value or facilities. This hotel has a lift, that was very helpful, many places do not. The rooms are large and you are able to spread out and not feel closed in. They provided drinking water. The heater worked well (we travelled in February so it was cool). The bathroom could do with updating and the towels could use replacing as well. I would stay here again.

BelarusWhat a wonderful place to stay in Thamel! The hosts are amazing people, who are always happy and ready to help with any quiry. In 5 stars hotels you do not feel such a care like here. The rooms are clean and there is everything you need for the stay. Indeed it is a Happy Home :) I will definitely stay here on my next trips.

BangladeshFor the cost, everything was up to mark, so there wasn't anything I disliked. It does get very cold during the nights, and while extra blankets were provided, I'd still advise others to bring warm clothes.
The staff were incredibly friendly. I felt really comfortable and secure during my stay, never having to question my safety. The location is optimum too, with being in the heart of Thamel. Surprisingly, while I was expecting loud noises from the city, it wasn't that extreme. The facilities given were great, with a clean environment.

I have stayed at this hotel several times. Bahrat and David could not be more welcoming. They try hard tomake your staybas comfortable as possible. Rooms are large and com with a seating area, TV, kettle and fridge. Hot water available after 8am. Bed clean and comfortable. Good thamel location. Roof terrace a bit bonus to escape the mayhem of thamel and have somewhere above the noise to relax

Lovely staff, great rooftop garden and cafe, hot water, perfect location for the Thamel madness, I was ill for a few days and David (the son) came to check on me every evening offering food, water, to go and get medicine etc. A genuine caring family run business.
