Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. The hostel was clean, comfortable, and had a great atmosphere, staff. But the best part was the staff especially Amrit, who went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. Super friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything. If you're looking for a welcoming place with top notch service, that was the one

In my opinion Nepalaya Home Hostel is one of the best budget accommodations in Kathmandu. it's clean, pleasant, and offers excellent value for money What genuinely distinguishes it is the amazing hospitality, particularly of Amrit the hard work guy always smiling and always provide problem solving ideas for guests. His warm welcome, friendly demeanor, and genuine concern for guests make you feel right at home. He never fails to be willing to help, whether you need travel advice or simply want to talk everyone becomes friends so fast with him . This hostel is an excellent alternative for budget tourists due to its pleasant environment, friendly environment and convenient location. Highly recommended!

WiFi was a bit spotty and didn't work for a couple of hours sometimes, plus would have loved a kettle in the room (but there was hot water downstairs, so it was okay).
Really nice room for the price! Everything was clean and well-maintained, even got a little balcony.

The hostel has no elevator but the hotel does
A very good hotel in Thamel rd. You can find everything here and the price is very budget contrast to its service room and location.

The cleaning ladies got into the room speaking and laughing loudly while some guests were sleeping. Ok, they can clean the bedroom but they should try not to talk so loudly as people are resting.
Well located hostel and super clean. Bed sheets were new and clean. Comfortable bedroom with big bathrooms.

Bathrooms could be cleaner but it’s to be expected in a shared hostel dorm room.
You can’t beat the value for the price. Location is close to everything you could need.

They really care about offering a good service. Here you find confortable beds, spacious rooms and lockers, cleanness and nice staff. There's a good structure in a good location.

Great location. 15 minutes walk to Durbar Square. Close to restaurants and shops. Provide airport pick-up service. Quite friendly for those who just arrived. Helpful staff. Always love to help.

Many stairs if your room is up (I didn't mind but some with heavy backpacks might). Internet is not great and pretty unstable. Noisy people in the dorm when we were here (but that's just unfortunate)
Excellent value. The hotel is well placed in Thamel, slightly off the road so it's a bit quieter. The room is good, large and comfy bed, and the shower very hot, which is great in winter! The staff is nice and helpful.

Could do with a cup or two for water.
I stayed in a bunch of hotels and airbnb in Nepal before (mostly Kathmandu) and Napalaya beats all of them head down. The room was squeaky clean and fresh, furniture looked new, functional set up, bathroom absolutely lovely( trust me on that on the strength of my Nepalese experience). Staff friendly, and professional. Had my own balcony on to of that! View wasn’t exactly Pokhara lake but it was quiet as not facing the street— massive bonus!

Laundry takes a couple of days
Located in Thamel close to many tourist shops, restaurants etc. Booked a private room which was spacious with en suite bathroom and balcony which had afternoon sun. Some noise from the dorm room next door to be expected. Friendly staff.
