Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

BangladeshThe most fascinating aspect of this hotel was it's location. You will be living right beside the mesmerizinng Patan Durbar square and the magical alleys. The staff were hospitable. It's a perfect place to get a feeling of the traditional Nepali neighborhood and it's cultural heritage.

RussiaSome repair works in the courtyard though it didn't bother us too much
We were travelling in a company of friends with kids. Our experience at this hotel was absolutely outstanding! The rooms are spacious, the beds are large and comfortable, and the atmosphere is refreshingly cool and undoubtly clean. The location is simply unbeatable—right on Patan Durbar Square, with all of Patan's incredible landmarks just a short walk away. Yet, despite being in the heart of the city, the hotel remains peaceful, as the windows open to a quiet inner courtyard. One of the true highlights is the stunning rooftop terrace, offering breathtaking city views and mesmerizing sunsets. The service was nothing short of exceptional—the staff went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. A special mention goes to the restaurant team on the terrace, where the waiter made our last evening truly memorable with his excellent service. A huge thank you to the management and staff for making our stay such a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kathmandu!

United KingdomThe room smelled slightly stale on arrival partly as it is an older building. Once we ventilated the room with windows wide opened it was better the next day.
The proximity to Patan Darbar Square is just brilliant. The staff are so kind and it's wonderful to stay in an older building which has been renovated so tastefully literally a few steps from the magical square. Roof top area allows for an evening drink and to absorb all the sounds of the area. There's a proper coffee machine which means you can chill out back at the hotel during the day if needs be. Loads of hot water and the shower was great for us. Staff were really attentive. Breakfast was more than adequate. Wonderful Nepali experience 😍😍

United KingdomThe staff were super friendly and helped me with anything I needed from booking taxis to advice on places to visit. I was sad to leave in the end and now think of them as my family in Kathmandu. The location is right next to Patan Durbar Square, a World Heritage Site, so you can visit multiple times during your stay. The whole area is rich historically and culturally. I feel privileged to have had this special experience. Pahan Chhen was my home from home while I explored Kathmandu and Nepal.

GermanyThe staff is maybe a bit too over-caring, always asking if everything's alright and how your day is going to be and how breakfast is and if the bed was Ok and... But hey, there are definitely worse things in the world :)
Perfectly situated right by the pretty Patan main square. Good breakfast, nice, modern, clean rooms

GermanyNothing to complain. Everything best
This was the best Hotel I have ever stayed in Kathmandu!!! Central but quite, with a great view to Durbar Square Patan. The service was extraordinary and the rooftop restaurant with Nepali food great. We had the room to the front with a balcony which was very comfortable. Even better as the pictures. They also offered us to keep our luggage for trekking.

AustraliaLocation, facilities and ambience were value for money. Staff were extremely warm and accommodating. Rooms were cleaned daily, with fresh towels and new water being added. Breakfasts offered sufficient choice and were deliciously nourishing. The roof-top restaurant consisted of comfortable outdoor settees and blankets, as well as an important selection of cocktails.

United StatesEverything was fantastic. I even could plug my phone charger into the bedside without an adapter. If I had to be super picky, the WiFi cuts out a little, but it does that at my house in the US too, so a very minor note. I also would recommend more Nepalese and Indian items for breakfast. The breakfast is good! Wonderful masala chai and at this time of year, a la cart options -- the potato and butter veggie sides are really yummy! But I did crave aloo bhaji for breakfast, my routine all over Nepal. But I could have also gone to a restaurant! So zero complaints and the brown bread with eggs is super tasty. The dogs and pigeons are loud at night, which is charming! But you may want to sleep with earplugs, just a piece of advice. I slept very well here but go to bed early, get up early, and sleep with earplugs ;) I was grateful the traffic noise was quiet!
Every hotel I have stayed at in three weeks in Nepal had been incredibly nice, I have picked well. But Pahan Chhen has been the most perfect of all and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. Location is amazing, a few feet to Patan Durbar Square which is most beautiful in the morning, and you can walk to every temple. I walked to every part of Patan from the hotel and if I had one more day, would visit Kirtipur by bus. I stayed here for five nights in a suite, which was huge, beautiful, private feeling, a totally lovely staff here, a great bar, and the food was exceptional! I ordered room service and probably ate more than I should but it was so delicious -- I had several veggie curries, dal, pakodas, and the nice breakfast as well that came with the room. Let me extol the shower! It is a rain shower with endless hot water and all amenities! The bathroom is spotless and lovely. The whole building is jaw dropping Newari style. The in-room heater was outstanding (I came in January). I was recovering from illness and actually stayed in bed a lot, but the bed was so comfortable (there were two in my room). My suite was huge as well, on the second floor. Clean, wonderful people, and an emphasis on the customer that is excellent. I can't even imagine staying anywhere else in Patan! So many hotels look nice in photos but then are on super crowded streets filled with honking motorcycles or are quite small. This hotel is much more quiet, set back from the road by Durbar Square, and a place for rejuvenation. Patan is nice for several days too. It has a lot of temples that are not even on the map and is really a joy to explore, plus a cool scene with college kids, but it's way more relaxed than Kathmandu.

DenmarkThe staff very so extremely nice, we really liked talking to them. If you are looking for a fancy western hotel, this is not exactly that. But it was so much better than that. It is located next to Dhurbar sq in Patan, best part of Kathmandu. You can see the mountains from the rooftop on a clear day, the rooms are good, and they make great food. 10/10 recommend!
