Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaWe were blown away by the way the guest house had been restored and maintained to respect the history and significance of its beautiful location. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They made our stay all the more special. Staying in the upper room overlooking the square and courtyard was a highlight of our stay in Bhaktapur.

United StatesIf you're tall (I'm 1.9 meters) you need to watch the height of ceilings and doorways to avoid hitting your head.
We loved how they have maintained the history of the architecture but also made it a great place to stay. It was good location in a Heritage site with many historical temples and building easily accessible. We had one dinner, breakfast, and a snack - food was very good. Staff was excellent.

Loved how old this hotel is. Beautiful woodwork, old style rooms, tiny corridors and staircases - full of atmosphere and character. Getting to our room was an adventure in itself! All was good. Food was excellent at restaurant and staff were both courteous and helpful. Location on the square was perfect and interesting to watch from our windows. The noise from square abated at night but would recommend earplugs if you are on the Square

SingaporePeople should note that building is very old, and they tried to conserve the original architecture, so the ceiling is very low, and installations are rustic, this is charming, but some people might not like it. Our room was facing the street, so a little noisy.
The hotel is on a 700 years old building, very charming. Great location, in one of the main squares of the city. The breakfast was very good, and the food options on the restaurant as well. The team was friendly and helpful

United KingdomAs others have said, the bathroom needs some work, but then I think, this is a 700-year-old property that has survived numerous earthquakes. I was worried about street noise but that proved to be unfounded. I wake up early so the sound of the temple bell was a bonus. I was also worried about being cold (esp as the electric blankets don’t work) but I found I was nice and cosy in my room.
I loved everything about this 700-year-old guest house - its location right on Dattatraya Square being a huge bonus. My room was located above a side street with shops selling incense and mantra music so it had a very special vibe! The food was so amazing here that I ended up not eating anywhere else. There is a lovely glass-topped open courtyard restaurant and the set breakfast was exceptional, featuring the famous Nepali buffalo curd. My room was very cosy and at the top of some steps through a warren of wooden corridors and carvings. You truly feel like you are stepping back in time. I will be back.

United StatesWe loved this small boutique hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the shared dining space was gorgeous. The staff were all extremely helpful, including calling us a car to get back to Kathmandu. Note: It’s an old building, so the ceilings are low. I didn’t mind, but it was tough for my tall husband.

We stayed here for one night. As someone said earlier it was truly a night in museum. If you want to see and experience the newari architecture first hand then this is the place for you. If you look for comfort and are a tall person or having mobility issues then you might reconsider. The building inside and out is simply beautiful. Adorned by exquisite old wood carvings, positioned on a quiet place in the historic Bakthapur. Breakfast was good and freshly made. The owner/staff was very friendly and helpful. I can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. It was a highlight of our stay in Nepal.

United KingdomIf you have a room at the front you are exposed to early morning noise from the temple in the square outside. Low ceilings are a hazard in any old building and a particular challenge given i am very tall. The building is not well suited to anybody with mobility difficulties etc given narrow/steep staircases.
Old building with bucketful of character. Good spot for exploring the sights of the old city. Enjoyable stay but you need to have the right expectations for such a historical building e.g. noise/heat insulation. Embrace the uniqueness of the environment and you will have a great time.

United StatesWas recommended Peacock Guest House by a friend who travels to Nepal frequently. It's unique, charming and comfortable. It's in a great location, easy to walk to a lot of attractions but also allows you to see a lot of local life. The staff make you feel very welcome - happy to answer my questions and help with other travel arrangements. Their support was really appreciated since I'm a female solo traveler. Stay here and you won't regret it.
