It's in a good place, quiet and accessible. They have a wonderful terrace and serve a good breakfast. Also Shalik is very helpful

I really enjoyed the staying here. Let’s start from the staff that’s really friendly and helpful. The room was quite spacious and had a very comfortable bed and a nice hot shower with good pressure. I stayed 4 nights and really enjoyed my staying there. It’s in the heart of Thamel, so close to many restaurants and shops, but it is in a quiet side road.

Really good localisation, in the heart of Thamel ! The dormitory is clean, comfortable, with real hot water !!! They are female and male dormitory. The breakfast is generous and really good (bread, jam, butter, egg, banana…) and provide also drinking water (hot and cold). And the staff is friendly.

Hopefully Pathao app rightfully adds Rambler´s Hotel to their directory and it can be better located by app users (their duty, not the Hotel´s).

Nothing. If you,'re a female solo traveler on a budget, looking for a clean, polite and silent place, Rambler,'s should be your choice.

Helpfulness is what defines Rambler's Hotel, his owner (Mr Shalik Ram) and crew. I arrived at Kathmandu after traveling for more than 20 hours, jetlagged and dazed and they did the most to help and guide me,n plus having clean and comfortable rooms (I booked the female dorm room). I had to leave after 2 days for a conference in another part of the city but decided to come back to Rambler's as my "home" for the rest of my stay in KTM

The room was a bit cold as it doesn't get sun at all (pretty normal in Thamel as all the streets are narrow). The shower temperature wasn't that reliable, sometimes hot, sometimes barely luck warm.

Great value! It's very well located, in a small alley so it's fairly quiet. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. We could leave our big bags while trekking. The room is large, clean and the bed comfy. The free breakfast, although simple, is a great addition.

I stayed here for 4 nights and had a wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and the owner, Shalik, truly exemplifies excellent service. He is approachable, easy to talk to, and always ready to offer assistance, which made my stay even more enjoyable. I stayed in the female dormitory, and the beds were very comfortable. The location is perfect—close to the main street in Thamel yet surprisingly quiet, ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Kathmandu, whether you’re traveling solo or with friends.

The water in the shower is hot just in the morning.

The location is very good, close to shops, restaurants and the centre. Breakfast was wonderful: bread, eggs, vegetables, jam, fruit!! The dormitory with 2 toilets and two showers inside were practical! The staff was helpful, kind and the manager helped me a lot to understand what bus I should take to go in the countryside, he was caring. Thanks a lot!!

The ONLY issue ..: for ME, personally were 2-3 dogs barking nearby. This is of course, TOTALLY out of Mr.Shaliks control. They belong to owners in other properties.! And, I need add...: the barking was not constant: but the annoying yapping of one which triggers another spoilt to a degree the otherwise quiet surrounds. ("Ramblers", well sign posted.: is down an alley/narrow street: away from busy thoroughfare) I emphasis...: these dogs are other peoples: not "Ramblers". I write honest reviews ..: I cannot say anything negative about "Ramblers Hotel", nor how Mr. Shalik runs his Hotel .

"Ramblers Hotel', for starters...: outstanding 'value for money'. Mr. Shalik.: the owner/Manager, is a true gentleman in every sense. Immediately on arrival, you're made welcome and my 2-night stay, only...: not long enough as Mr. Shalik is prepared to give to you as much time/assistance/communicating, as a friend as is needed. He makes' "Ramblers' the great Hotel it is. The room/apartment itself...: great size (bigger than expected )..Wi-Fi is excellent, a great sized refrigerator/stove top/comfortable bed/expansive bathroom. Good hot shower (be patient with it...: "Ramblers" needs cater for many guests...the Hotel was full...another sign that its reputation is growing!) . Location...: could not be better! In the heart of Thamel: easy walking to for example ...: "Everest Store". A smallish supermarket, stocking everything you need. Mr. Shalik's English skills, for me...: another huge advantage as he is quite prepared to sit and discuss topics on, not only Nepal and its attractions, both local to Thamel and Nepal in general /and Nepalese History...: but any topic you like. Great company he is. He is very generous as well. All his attributes, making "Ramblers Hotel" such a success, comes from his vast experience in similar ventures. ("Ramblers" is relatively new.: it can only go from very good to excellent) . I'd not hesitate to recommend "Ramblers' to anyone and I plan to return there when possible.

The owner - Shalik was friendly and nice but I didn't like that he wasn't completely honest with us. They charge $8 each way for drive from or to the airport when the real cost is $2-3. The second time I was told it is $15/one way and I was told about his upcharge after the trip without any information ahead of time. It is much better to get a Nepalese SIM card at the airport and register for one of the taxi apps. You can then take a taxi anywhere for a few bucks. Also, some gentleman who does not work at the hotel and only stops by there once in a while in a lobby, tries to lure tourists to use his transportation for the trips. For a $15 trip outside of the city that we ended up booking ourselves with taxi driver he offered for $60-75!!! That is the only bad memory we have of this hotel. Instead of them helping their guests to have the best experience of Kathmandu, they try to get as much money out of them as possible for being dishonest. Everything else, like location, cleanliness or the staff of the hotel were great.

Good location. Receptionists guy as well as cleaning lady were very nice.
