We stayed here twice during our time in Nepal and loved it. They arranged an airport pick up for us when we arrived in Nepal which was great. The staff were so friendly on arrival and made us feel at home immediately. The private room was comfortable and spacious. The facilities including hot water and wifi worked well. The bed and linen was also comfortable. The upstairs restaurant was the perfect chill out location. You could spend hours here relaxing. The food and coffee was also good. And there were some mountain views in the distance. It was walking distance to everything in Thamel with restaurants, shops, and ATM close by. We also walked to Monkey Temple and Durbar square from here. There is also an attached tour agent which we organised our Langtang Valley Trek through and would 100% recommend. They also arranged a bus transfer to Pokhara which was very good. They stored our luggage for free during our trekking which was also great. Overall, this was the perfect stay in Kathmandu and we 100% recommend it.

This was our 3rd time staying at Rest Up during our time in Nepal. We had loved it so much the previous 2 times we had to come back before we flew out. Unfortunately, when we arrived we were ushered next door to Nepali Heritage Hotel as they had overbooked. It is run by the same management but we were quite disappointed as we loved the rooftop chill out area at Rest Up. When we were checking out we mentioned this and apparently we still could access the Rest Up rooftop area even though we were staying at a different hotel but no one mentioned this earlier. The Nepali Heritage Hotel had a great room, and lovely staff. The wifi was great, the hot shower worked well and you are close to everything in Thamel. The restaurant area upstairs was nice but nothing like the Rest Up area. As it was only one night here we didn’t mind too much. However we think it would be considerate to inform the guests prior to arrival that they are being relocated.

Dorm rooms are densely packed and beds don’t feel that private.

Great location on the edge of Thamel, super friendly staff, big open rooftop to socialise, they serve good food, and reception staff were happy to keep belongings safe until back from trekking.

Spent two weeks in total in this hostel It's just the best place in Kathmandu. Beautiful rooftop with view, friendly guests, friendly owners, good food and good espresso coffee. I felt like home

The staff is super nice and helpful ❤️. The hostel was very neat and clean, the bed was comfortable and big. There is a rooftop restaurant and the view from rooftop was just amazing 🤌🏻 you get the Mountain View, you can sit there and study books you can also go there for peace.
