Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

the only thing was the thick blankets. It was super hot at night. Maybe before winter you could change to a thin blankets
The staff is the best, from the reception, the restaurant and the turist information, all of them super friendly and helpful. I made this hostel my base camp during my 2 months in Nepal. Every time I went out for a hike they helped me by giving me information and storaging my things. 10/10 Rest up Kathmandu <3

Maybe something to leave the clothes while you are talking a shower. But everything was good.
After sleeping there more than 10 days, I have no doubt: that is one of the best options to sleep in Thammel. Everything was fine: the rooms were big enough and the beds were comfy, the temperature was ok, space to leave backpacks and stuff, the bathrooms are new and clean. There is two different rooftops: one to eat and the upper one to chill and meet people. Also you have lockers big enough to keep your things safe. People who works there, specially Karan, were so helpful in everything in every moment: keeping bags when trekking, giving information and more. If you need they could arrange you buses, tours, and laundry. Really, the place is super special, you will feel as home and you Will be thankful with the two ladies that cleans everything during all day. What more you need? Clean, comfortable and nice.

Be aware that there is an additional 4% charge when paying by card. This is normal throughout Nepal and not a negative of the hostel.
Staff are all really friendly and helpful. Rooftop restaurant has a really good view (when the weather permits!). Private rooms are well appointed and reasonably priced. You can organise treks and flights to everest through the hostel, which makes things easy and simple. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

I dont know what was going on but when i was working at the common area, i lost electricity twice so it interrupted my work. I couldve finished more work but i couldnt because of loss of electricity but in the room it wasnt like that so weird.
I would have stayed longer if i had the chance but i only had 1 night before my flight the next day. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It has curtains on the sides which made it a little bit more comfy to sleep as well 😅 i also really appreciate the clean toilet. The common area which was also the rooftop was cool and very clean as well. The staff cleaned that morning and i guess they do that every morning. I love everything about this hostel. The price is very affordable for the facilities. Im not sure if it was just because it is off season. The reception people were friendly and accommodating.

Best hostel in Kathmandu..location is in downtown..lot of eateries nearby..Karen is the guy u should look out for..he was so helpful and guides you where to go and what to do while you stay in Kathmandu..

Prakash and his team were very hospitable. He organized airport pickup and offered to help with any trekking planning. The rooftop area to relax has a great view of the city. Private room had a comfy bed and well kept bathroom. Overall, this was a great introduction to Kathmandu. Would stay (and probably will stay) here in the future.

Really nice and beautiful hostel, it has really nice rooftop, restaurant and good food , common area, nice and clean bathrooms and hot shower all the time and most importantly staffs are really polite and helpful specially front man Mr Karan . They also provide tour and travel information any many more things. I really enjoyed my stay here. Thanks to all 'Rest up' Team.

All the guys at the reception are very nice, speaks very good English and helpful. They have a curfew which took me by surprise but they happily let me in at 4AM. The rooftop has some of the best view of the city and a really good space to unwind.

Generally everything is good. The beds are comfortable and there are curtains, sockets and lights. The rooms and the whole hostel are quiet. Extremely clean, the hostel is very tidy and meticulously cleaned. The terrace is also clean, very comfortable and has a nice view. Sitting on the terrace is very enjoyable. The staff is helpful and focused on providing the best service. The location of the hostel is very good, easy to walk to the entertainment venues, restaurants and coffee shops in the center in a few minutes.

Despite the ongoing renovations, our stay was pleasant as we were accommodated in a neighboring building. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind, always ready with great advice. The location was excellent, close to all the main attractions. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I would recommend staying here :)

The female dormitory didn't have a separate washroom or washroom on the same floor. No mirror in the dormitory
Location was good, renovation work was going so they offered us a different place as shown in pictures, but it was also good and comfortable.
