Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaNothing that I can think of.
We stayed in a private room with attached bath. It was very comfortable, clean, well-resourced and spacious. The location is great. It's literally a hand's reach from everything. The rooftop bar is an amazing place to hangout at night, have a few drinks, have food and play music. Kumar is an amazingly caring owner. Every time he saw us, he asked us how things were. He also helped us with many other things which would otherwise be difficult or inconvenient for us to manage. Also, shoutout to Madan for all his help. Overall, it was an amazing experience and hospitality.

PortugalI think this place has potential but unfortunately there were several issues during my stay. First of all, they had some construction work up on the rooftop which was noisy in the morning and evening. Also, it affected the boiler, so I didn't have hot water for more than 24 hours which sucks in winter. Also, the room is super cold and there is no heater. I had to ask for extra blanket and even so I had to sleep with a sweater on. The wifi was also very spotty and kept disconnecting which affected my work as a digital nomad. Lastly, the hostel is facing the street and there are always many scooters driving by which makes the area quite noisy even with earplugs.
They picked me up at the airport for a reasonable rate. The room matches the description and photos. The food at the rooftop bar was cheap and tasty. Plenty of stairs which can be a problem if you have heavy suitcases but they offered to help carry it upstairs. Friendly staff always willing to help out with suggestions. Good location within walking distance to Durbar square.

PolandThe toilet in my room broke down, I had to ask three times during the day the get it fixed (it happened around 11 and someone came to check it around 16/17). I really felt like no one cared to be honest.
The location was nice, it was close to many facilities. Also the restaurant is really pleasant.

JapanAnyone off the street can get into the room and you can't lock the dorm room as there is only 1 key. There are lockers in the room but no key so you can't lock it, and there was rubbish inside. Everything is dusty. The bathroom was dirty and never cleaned. Black mold on the door, shelf above sink was broken, no toilet paper. Bedding looked cleaned but are not changed between guests. Top bunk is low and close to the ceiling. No common area to relax.
Central location in Thamel, close to shops and restaurants. Staff let me check-in early as the bed was available and shower after checkout. Fan in room. If you're in one of the higher floors, the street noise is muted.

NetherlandsThey didn’t provide any information about public transportation for going to Pokhara and chitwan. Not helpful staff. Rather, the “only” way was by taking a tour with them. After this reference, hopefully you will learn to be open about the tourpackage and public transportation in your country. This information is difficult to obtain for me.

United StatesSo the reviews written on bookings and google are entirely and entirely fake... we booked this hotel based on the reviews.. checkout my attachment to validate this. ..let me list down the issues 1. Bed was like a stone.. hard and super uncomfortable...I couldn't sleep all night . 2. Mr Kumar felt that we deserve the worst possible room that hasn't been swept in months..... looks like Mr Kumar only wants to reserve the best for foreigners. 3. The TV didn't have a remote. Hence, couldn't be on.. why is there a TV then ??? 4. The room was less than 100 sqft.. 5. The key wasn't working... everytime we had to call the helper to come n open... like really ??? 6. We reserved the hotel based on pictures on bookings.com.. we were given a downgraded room for an upgraded price.... 7. Mr Kumar " forgot " to update our payment details on the register.. while checking out, the helper boy came running as if we were criminals exiting their great hotel without payment.. wowwww... after calling and getting confirmation from Mr Kumar, he let us go.....amazing professionalism !!!!!! We treat Nepalese friends like family back in india.. how I wish Mr Kumar had some basic courtesy.. Coming to fake reviews, if you refer my pictures, u ll realise how can a traveller speak bad about other travelers and justify how great " holiday hostel" is.. would u or me do this ??? Overall the worst experience in Nepal.. besides that had amazing hospitality from Nepalese..
He gave a coffee as welcome drink.. kept 2 bottled water.. besides this everything else was a scam.. the worst part of my nepal trip in this hotel.

GermanyRooms are quite small, no real space for bags/ luggage, beds are shorter than 1.75m, not able to lock the room from the outside, rooms are very hot with bad air, but there was a fan at least, wifi doesn’t always work properly. after going for the trek I booked with the agency that’s connected to the hostel (same owner) I had the feeling the agency overcharged me quite a lot (bus tickets can be purchased cheaper, accommodation would be WAY cheaper if booked on place, trek could have been managed 1-2 days faster), maybe all agencies do that, maybe it was due to off season but it didn’t leave a good feeling
Location was good, staff was friendly, could leave my bag here while going trekking, roof terrace is very nice & provides foods & drinks, price (4,50$ during off season) was great, good value for that

AustraliaCan't sleep there in the room facing the street - too loud. The hardest bed I've ever slept on. Internet cuts out at peak times. Occasional power outrages. But can you get anything better for this price?

New ZealandThe WiFi on our level (3) was playing up a lot, and we often couldn't use the internet in our room, so we went up to the rooftop restaurant to use the WiFi up there, which was much better. We bought bus tickets to Pokhara from the staff at the hotel, after only checking 2 other places. Once on the bus we discovered that we should have shopped around more. We paid 1500 NRP each, while other tourists on the bus paid either 1200 or 1100.
The location is good at the southern end of Thamel. The room was clean, small but comfortable, with 2 chairs and a table. We found it to be pretty good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful.

ArmeniaI stayed female dormitory for two days, when I extended the room on the third day, the 1.4 meters male receptionist said I had to change a room, so I changed the room. When I paid the money, the receptionist asked for 660NPR, I booked on booking website, the booking price is 605NPR. I said I paid 605NPR before. The receptionist said that it is ok to pay 605NPR today, but I had to give a good review for the hostel on the booking website.I asked why? I said that it is my own choice to give a good review, if I like to write, I write,if I do not like to write, I do not write. Then the 1.4 meters male receptionist said“Do you like our room?” He asked me this questions many times, keep repeating.I never heard such disgusting question by hostel before.Because he always asked me to give a good review so that I can pay 605NPR as before,I left.

ItalyThe dorm was ridiculously tiny, 4 beds cramped in no more than 6 square metres, I was there 5 nights and the room/ensuite bathroom were never cleaned, unfriendly careless staff, they won't even bother saying Hello, they only talk to each other. The prices of food and drinks are 3 to 5 times higher than outside. There are cheaper places for this same standard in Kathmandu
Good location, close to everything and away from Thamel. Good beds and shower, nice rooftop, well kept building, very easy to find.
