Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

It wasn't the cleanest place but the sheets were clean and facilities were totally satisfactory.
The staff were amazing, it felt like family and breakfast was really nice.

The staff behaviour were excellent and found to be very friendly. Sara aunty and the other staffs behaved well. We were there for about 3 days and we were able to wash our cloths and for drying they provided space which made us easy and comfortable.

The hotel is clean and the room confortable, really nice service and really good price. I was expecting a commun kitchen as i had seen on booking but they transform in a room, not a big problem though.

Location little far from Thamel but easy to find buses and microbus

On my first stay in Asia, Sara en Sudan received me with the typical Nepali hospitality and made me feel part of their family. They introduced me into their culture and provided me with all the means to explore it further. There was plenty of delicious food!

The kitchen and the cooking tools could have been cleaner.
The location is very convenient, in a quiet and nice neighborhood. We can reach center city walking. The room was comfortable, and the kitchen was very useful not to be dependant on the restaurants. Shower with hot water : amazing! We enjoyed also the small balcony. Very nice welcome from Sara :D

Like in a lot of place in Nepal, people smoke everywhere. The smoking area was right next to our room so it smelled cigarette a lot, which is discussing if you don't smoke to be honest. Also, the mattress was really hard and the kitchen could have more ustensiles.
It was cheap and clean and the WiFi was good when the power wasn't out.

Shared bathrooms could be fixed, many things are broken and would be a detail to fix it as many plp uses it. Kitchen could be cleaner as well..
Very good place, quiet neighborhood but with lots of options to eat outside and supermarkets, far from the center but nice to walk. Helpful staff, clean rooms and very beautiful views from the terrace! Perfect to drink the tea in the morning or a beer with the sunset!

We got a room with kitchen and separated bathroom. Bathroom is tiny and located outside so that you have to walk outside first before coming to the room after shower. And kitchen is inside the room, so whenever you cook inside it keeps the smell.
We liked our stay at Sara's hostel, area is not touristic, so we met and learnt local side of Kathmandu. We liked Sara's husband Südan, we enjoyed his company, he shared a lot of useful and interesting ideas with us. Hotel has a terrace to enjoy the view of the neighborhood.

- walls are really not soundproof and it was busy and loud early in the morning. take your earplugs! - not so many options where to eat around - laundry for 200 NR per kilo (two times more than at places around) - all the building feels very cold 🥶
- great price for room - avaible kitchen (not fully equipped; using it cost 100NR per day) - very clean bathroom - hot shower

Everything ok (Bed is a bit short)
Friendly and welcoming staff, easy going, easy to get trustful information. The location is so good, a bit far from the center but was very ok for me, since i don't like the crowded tourist center at all. In fact, in the surroundings here there are plenty of things to explore, and best of all, 4 or 5 km ahead you're already in village like and countryside places. Perfect place if you want to stay several days. I recommend.
