Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsIf you’re looking for an authentic homestay, in the middle of rural Nepal where you can relax and enjoy Nepalese culture and food, then this is the perfect place. The family is kind and helpful, the food was absolutely delicious and the surroundings are beautiful. The rooms are spacious though not super luxurious (which is to be expected being this far from commercial touristic places to be fair). They also arranged a jungle safari for us! We loved our stay here!

If you want to experience local, rural Nepal then this place is perfect! The family you stay with are all amazing, and make the experience even more memorable! The wife cooks the best traditional Nepal food too! Mr Rama has a jeep and took us on a jungle safari and to a waterfall as well! Mr Rama is the kindest man and also provided me with lots of information on their religion and traditions! I was a solo female traveller and I highly recommend this place!

New ZealandThis guest house is way out off the tourist route, it’s is as described a ‘rustic guesthouse’ the family who run it are lovely people who truly care about their product and showing you their wonderful country. Nothing is too much trouble for them they make you feel so welcome with lots of tea, cold water and great food. The jungle safari was heaps of fun, 8 hours to be precise, great value for money with many animals spotted.

NetherlandsNothing! But if I have to mention something it would be that the matrass is quite hard. Harder than we're used to at home. But despite this we slept perfectly well!
This beautiful guesthouse is in the Middle of the countryside, it's so peaceful and quiet! The hosts are a local family and they did everything to make us feel at home! The mother of the family and one of her sons made us fresh Nepali food everyday. One of the other sons cane to get us from bharatpur and helped us arrange a taxi for a good price They also arranged a whole day safari for us in Chitwan National Park, father of the family was the guide on this tour. We saw so many animals! A lot of deer, peacock, a black boar, a lot of birds and 3 Rhino's! We really loved that they we're so welcoming! We would totally reccomend others to stay here if you want to get away from the main crowd and experience the real Nepal countryside life!

United StatesThere is nothing that I didnt enjoy about this place, I loved the rustic room. Sometimes the walls were a bit too thin, but there was only joyful family sounds that I heard
Hari and his incredibly joyous family welcomed me in to their hearts and home, cooked every meal, ensured I was always taken care of and my highlights were sharing special times with them on their beautiful and peaceful land. Hari is the most exuberant, golden soul with more integrity and spirit than most anyone I met in Nepal. He is also the most qualifies and amazing safari guide, and will show you things no other will....

United KingdomBridge to bathroom felt a bit wobbly - maybe needs redoing soon. Some of the lights in our room didn't work - bulbs just need replacing I think :)
If you're looking for a rural, authentic experience in Chitwan then this is perfect. Very rustic and basic, but we liked this :) The food was extremely fresh and delicious if you like healthy veggie cuisine (best dalbhat)! The dog and family were very friendly and helpful. We had a trip to a lovely nearby waterfall too. It was a great place to stay. Thank you :)

IrelandSofter beds, better bridge across the river.
The main house is a gem! Old traditional wooden house with view at rice fields. Very remote location (!), in a true Nepalese countryside. The only place we could see buffalo carts on the way to and from the property. Lots of wildlife too, including wild boar coming every night to feed on rice. Considering how far it is from other places, staying few nights is in our opinion the best option.

PhilippinesWe had a tremendous stay at Shanta Ghar guesthouse! The family were so welcoming and offered a tremendous eco room and facilities! We got the best tour around the park with a private jeep and saw many animals with this whole day excursion. We also got a jungle walk to 3 water falls. Besides this the food was local Nepali vegetarian food and absolutely delicious! Thanks again! We loved it. Namaste

IndiaShanta Ghar is a place for the people seeking solitude...it's for the people who like to talk to the locals and understand how they live. It's about understanding how people have made out a home in a place so far from the city, yet it feels like home. It's about going back in time and appreciating whatever life has given to us. Highly recommended to all the solo travelers and the peace seekers. Respect the environment around and do not play loud music, or do not throw trash anywhere.

Beautiful surroundings, beautiful house and a beautiful family who couldn’t do enough for us! The hosts took us on a safari which was outstanding. Absolutely don’t be put off by the fact this properly is away from the centre of Chitwan - we trekked to a a secret waterfall, had the most beautiful private safari and explored the local village, away from tourists. Our best place yet to visit! Thank you so for all your warmth, guidance, care, exceptional knowledge of the area/animals and hospitality too - we will be back!

A beautiful setting, wonderful hosts, which made us all feel immediately at home and part of the family… incredible food too! Ramakata and his family were fantastic hosts, they also provided excellent excursions too, including: an open jeep safari; secret waterfall trek and a visit to Stand Up 4 Elephants. We have had an incredible stay at Shanta Ghar and I cannot recommend this homestay enough. It was also lovely to be away from the busy tourist away of Chitwan… instead we got a taste for real life, authentic, rural Nepal - with an incredible safari thrown in! 5 stars - we’ll certainly be back.

United KingdomThe beds are hard but this seems to be quite normal in Nepal. At first the bathroom looked like it might have insects at night and you had to go across a little bridge to get to it. In reality it was clean and nothing scary ever jumped out at me and I loved the little bridge. It’s a bit like glamping but that’s part of the appeal. And also why it won’t suit everyone!
This is a really special place. it won’t appeal to everyone. It’s not a resort. it’s a family home where you will experience real Nepali life in a rural village on the edge of the Chitwan National Park. The food is delicious, home cooking - some of the best we had in Nepal. Rama and his family are wonderful and will do anything to make your stay a perfect one. The safari we did was amazing - we saw 9 rhinos, including a really close encounter with a mother and tiny baby. The other highlight was a mother and baby sloth bear. Definitely recommend you do this if you stay here. We passed other jeeps full of tourists and we had just four of us and were out until the sun just started to go down.

LuxembourgThis is an absolute dream of a stay. The location is a far out of the way but totally worth it. The house is in a traditional style, it’s a real home stay feeling, fantastic food and a peaceful stay surrounded by beautiful nature. The accommodation is simple but has everything you could need. It’s great value for money and I wouldn’t change a thing. Ramakanta and his family will go out of their way to make you feel at home and make sure you have a great stay. We also went on the walking safari with Ram and learnt so much about the animals the area and the culture, he loves to share experiences with his guests and his hospitality comes so clearly from his heart!
