Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing! Everything was extra special and perfect for us on our stay here.
We came to celebrate our recent engagement. Throughout the stay the staff were highly attentive, warm, and responsive. We are vegan and they created new dishes on the menu for us to meet our needs. They provided flowers for us on arrival in the room. The food was absolutely delicious. It was a great location and easy to get the taxi into the city centre from here. The room was very beautifully decorated and the bed was super comfortable. Would 100% stay again. A beautiful hotel and amazing staff and owner x

AustraliaIt’s away from some of the traditional tourist locations. So taxi rather than walking distance.
Ambience, tranquillity and service all outstanding. Tibetan style massage was excellent, room and facilities are fantastic.

United KingdomBeing outside the ring road provides for calm but it does means extra time to get to many places in the centre of Kathmandu. This is not a serious problem because it is easy to find a taxi with the inDrive app that I was quickly taught to use by Yangchen at the hotel. I put a Nepalese SIM card in my phone when I arrived, but I am not sure if that is necessary to use inDrive.
Calm and relaxing ambiance facing a garden of trees, flowers and singing birds in a quiet neighbourhood. Spacoius, airy room with view, comfortable chairs and bed, and elegant decor. Hot shower. Soft and large dressing gowns. Very good breakfast with good coffee. Last but not least, SUPER FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF.

ChinaIt would be unfair to day I didn't like something. Certainly, there are details that need working on, and some works of the architecture in the Deluxe Suite, such as a small ramp coming out of the bathroom (instead of square steps), or drainage inside the suite (easy to fix) should be addressed, but they won't spoil your experience. Best in Kathmandu after all, thank you Tenzin and Yang, and Sirin.
Uma was our best experience in Nepal. The owners were so wonderful, truly hardworking and making sure standards were meet at all times, from breakfast to dinner, from bedding and toiletries to laundry and reception; everything was covered. After walking back from "Monkey Temple" (not the real name, but don't miss it), and through almost un-negotiable streets, Uma feels like an Oasis of peace and luxury.

AustraliaNothing that I can think of.
If I could score higher than 10, I would. Without doubt one of the most impressive establishments that I have ever stayed in. This is family run business and it is evident by the warm hospitality I encountered with every single person at Uma. It was like an oasis in the heart of busy, sprawling Katmandu. Not to forget Crystal, the beautiful dog who resides at Uma.

Hong KongIt’s hard to believe such high reviews sometimes but from the minute we arrived you can see why. This place is incredible. Denzin and her husband have managed to do something very special. They’ve created a sanctuary within the city of Kathmandu. There are Tibetan influences throughout the property, it honestly felt like being in Bhutan. The standard of workmanship and quality of products used here is also very high which is refreshing to see. You can easily stay here on the property for days without leaving. The food is amazing, with a good menu a lot of the ingredients are sourced from the property itself which is all organic. There’s plenty of areas around the property to relax and chill and work if required. It’s so calm and quiet. The staff are all very friendly and if you need to park here there’s a lot of space. We were here with our two young kids as loved the fact it had a big trampoline to play on each morning too! I can’t recommend this place highly enough!

Lobsang and Tenzdy have created a most amazing oasis of calm, clean beauty amidst the bustle of Kathmandu. Their attention to the tiniest of details from the food to the room decor is unparalleled. The staff are superb and welcoming as is Crystal the Alsatian! Absolutely loved this getaway from reality- hugely recommended on so many levels.. better than some Mandarin Orientals and Shang rinks hotels!! Thank you both for a brilliant experience.

AustraliaThe room was super spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is large, well lit and the shower has a good flow rate and plenty of hot water. Room service meals and drinks were reasonably priced and the food was absolutely amazing. Breakfast was also superb. The staff were super helpful as I got sick the day I arrived so they made me hot ginger and honey tea, and when I left for a hike they gave me pears, bananas and electrolytes to make my stomach better. Highly recommend!!

United KingdomFrom the moment we arrived until our departure, the staff delivered exceptional hospitality that exceeded all expectations. The owners radiate genuine warmth and friendliness, making us feel like cherished guests rather than casual visitors. We even had the delightful experience of meeting Crystal, the resident dog who adds an extra touch of charm to this tranquil retreat. Nestled away from the city centre’s commotion, this peaceful sanctuary offers a perfect blend of serenity and comfort. We will definitely be staying here again when we are back in Nepal.

United StatesWe got to enjoy a promotion they were having for their newly opened hotel and it was beyond delightful. The interior architecture, design and craftsmanship was beautifully thought out and inspiring. It was truly more luxurious and comfortable than any five star hotels I’ve stayed in Kathmandu. Food: Give them a heads up if you have any food preferences or allergies. They’ll cook up a yummy home cooked meal. Kid friendly: next time I’ll be bringing my kids to swim when the weather gets a little warmer. Their garden area is huge and there is ample space for kids to run around. The garden is also a great spot to check out all the on site vegetables, fruits and herbs they grow. I will definitely come back again and again.

GermanyThe water from the shower tends to emit a bit of a smell when you start the shower which might be related to the rooftop heating.
This very beautiful hotel was build with a lot of love for details, peace and unity with nature. Trees full of fruits, a clean and refreshing pool and a cute ant made of stones and metal are only a few things we could discover during our stay. Every part of the hotel is a composition of light and material, made of stone and massive wood. This hotel has its own soul and reminded me of a Mediterranean Roman villa with its cubistic architecture yet warm interior. The staff is very helpful and welcoming. The food is rather higher cuisine, served in optically pleasuring crockery made of stone, yet we might add that the servings were a bit on the lean side. Located at a very pleasant area of the city, that is a bit away from the tourist area, I can definitely recommend this hotel.
