Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Lovely time at Kaiteriteri. Paul, the host was very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to eateries and boats for Abel Tasman. Would recommend.

Our room was a great base for exploring Able Tasman. The property own was very helpful providing advice about where to eat, where to take the boat shuttles and walk, which all worked perfectly. Good help yourself breakfast. The beach we stopped at Anchorage Bay was incredible.

We had a nice room with ensuite bathroom and a view to lagoon/beach. The bed was awesome, and had a great nights sleep. The pool area was nice with a good view. Paul was a great host.

Continental breakfast was fine but the location adjacent to guest bathrooms was unfortunate. The “kitchen facilities” cupboard was poorly lit.
Convenient location. Excellent en suite bathroom.

Outside of property was messy and looked uncared for. No sign so harder to find. Very difficult to contact host. Breakfast was self make in a hall way area that was clean but shared with all other rooms and so slightly awkward

Lack of storage space or shelving in the bedroom. No comfortable seating. Breakfast was ‘do it yourself’ - cereal , toast, juice, fruit, yogurt and cheese/ ham but no spread taken from the fridge. Eaten in a corridor beside two bathrooms belonging to two of the rooms . No comfortable seating area inside
Quiet location away from the hubbub of the main centre but within 10 mins walking distance. Lovely views across the lagoon and watching wildlife

Breakfast in the hallway in front of the toilets from the other guests. Selfservice out of the fridge. Bad coffee! Had an amazing accomodation in Abel Tasman for half the price with much more that was offered. It was way too overpriced!

Very good location, within walking distance of Kaiteriteri, so being able to leave the car at the B&B and walk into town was a real bonus. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet, with a great shower! There was a help yourself continental type breakfast. A really friendly and helpful host, who gave us lots of useful information for our visit to town - a great place to strike out to the Abel Tasman National Park. Would definitely recommend.

Paul was great, absolute legend when we arrived and gave us lots of recommendations for beaches and restaurants to visit! Super convent location, good walking distance to cafes and beach.

The breakfast seating area was right outside our bathroom door. There is no insulation in the walls so all conversation and eating was perfectly audible in the bathroom. This was a really uncomfortable situation as presumably the reverse was true. I think the breakfast area should not be in the hallway right outside the bedrooms and bathrooms.

No ceiling fan or air cond, and there were a few noisy neighbors so I had to close the window. Small inconvenience, I slept in as I was on holiday!
The location was amazing! Paul, our host, was friendly and super helpful about the attractions in Kaiteriteri. We LOVED sitting by the pool looking over town, so gorgeous!

Bit strange walking across the breakfast area to the private bathroom! Also memory foam mattress didn't suit my wife. I would still recommend though.

There is only 1 food place nearby otherwise you have to drive about 15 minutes to the next town for grocery shopping and restaurants. It really isn’t that inconvenient, just requires advanced planning to maybe stop beforehand.
The location is awesome being so close to the beach! The bathrooms and rooms were very nice, well equipped and had ample space. The host was very friendly, helpful and gave the guests our space. Lots of parking room.

It was very comfortable and accessible! The pool was very nice and there was a good shower and bed. There was good parking and it wasn’t a far walk from the beach. It had a nice view.
