Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNo comfortable chairs in the apartment. Only one sun lounger. Lots of demanding notices, not requests! We never saw the caretaker, had to be shown how to get access by another guest.
Lovely situation near the sea. Great view. Large balcony. Close to Kaiteriteri.

New ZealandWe had a wonderful stay at The Palms. Perfect location with the Tapu Beach right at the end of the drive way. And 4 other beaches just a stones throw away. I had to do a couple of days of work and the Wi-Fi was excellent. Paul the host could not do enough for us. Fantastic location with just a 5 min drive to the water taxis taking you into the Abel Tasmin Reaerve. Will definitely be back.

United KingdomUsing the detached outside bathroom (5m away) in the rain. Being required to leave footwear outside in the rain. (Footwear got soaked) Not being able to have your shoes on indoors when the floor was cold (they should provide slippers or covers for your shoes.) With no running water in unit unable to wash hands after preparing food except by going out in rain.
Closeness to beach. It was okay whilst the weather was fine.

United StatesConfusing communication after we booked regarding which unit we wanted. Owner had a warm greeting but was strongly cautioned about 1. Keeping food smells from the kitchenette out of the rest of the studio so we felt very cautious about any cooking on the premises. 2. Talked about keeping windows open in the bathroom but we realized later the window was permanently locked open with bolts and could not be closed though bugs were coming in. 3. Though our unit had a washer shown in the kitchenette area pictures it could not be used by us - very misleading. 4. The refrigerator had settings from 1- 5 but an attached note to keep it at 3.5 or lower so we found our food/drinks not cold enough for our liking. 5. Nice deck but no sea-view ( only a tiny glimpse if you stood next to the patio hot-tub and carefully lined up some shrubs) - deck had no umbrella to provide comfort using during very sunny afternoons. 6. Only location in 18 different stops where my MacBook could not connect to the internet - phones/iPads worked fine.
The bed was comfortable - the location was quiet

New ZealandThe location and rustic nature of the ‘camp style’ bathroom was impractical. The furniture inside the unit was outdoor bbq type and not very comfortable. There was no running water inside. We needed to use an outdoor ‘camp-style’ sink next to the bathroom. While there were several cooking items, it is an exaggeration to call this a kitchen. The unit itself resembles a ‘sleep-out’ but was adequate for our needs.
We were in Unit 2. The bed was comfortable. The unit and bathroom were very clean. The location was good as we had a car. We had easy access to the nearby inlet (‘beach’), which was a pleasant area for a stroll. The neighbourhood was quiet.

New ZealandFrom the advertising I thought we were hiring a 'beach front' apartment. We could ne even see the beach from our unit. It was also quite a drive from Kaiteriteri which would be a problem if you didn't have your own car.
The unit was clean and tidy. Good recommendations on where to eat

AustraliaUnfortunately, the description of the property totally misrepresented the accommodation, facilities and equipment. There was NO VIEW other than the yard and bush. There wasn't anywhere appealing to sit outside and only one chair provided on a small gravel patch looking at bushes. There were no comfortable chairs inside either. It did not make it clear that the private bathroom - the 'alfresco' shower (which had a thin sheet metal door that wouldn't close) across the yard and this was the only bathroom. I presumed the alfresco shower would be an additional outside shower for after swimming, but it was the only one. There is a big difference between eco-friendly and cheap DIY which this was. All the facilities and equipment were inadequate and cheap. There was not even a teaspoon. Water was in large bottles in the room. There were no real cooking or kitchen facilities. It was extremely disappointing.
Good location, clean sheets and friendly manager. Near to Abel Tasman National Park which was stunning. Kaiterteri is also lovely.

New ZealandFurniture was not comfortable- both inside seats and outdoor furniture. Bath could do with mat as quite slippery. Shower was difficult to regulate- very fine line to find between too hot and too cold! Outside garden area could do with a good clean up.
Location was very peaceful - but a car is essential. Lovely big terrace. Teresa was extremely helpful, friendly and lovely and check in was easy. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.
