Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThere was no oven, if we'd wanted to cook. The main room was a bit dark, due to the layout of the accommodation. The manual said the air conditioning took about 15 minutes to warm up but on a cold night, you really want instant heat.
Perfect location for our needs. Breakfast food was a lovely touch and much appreciated. The bedding was warm. The shower was great.

New ZealandOnly minor issue was the lack of somewhere comfortable to sit inside - but in the warm afternoon we sat at the table provided outside.
Lovely little place just around the corner from the CBD of Gisborne. Walked to the Harbour most evenings for dinner where there were plenty of choices. Place was clean and tidy.

United StatesCan't think of a thing!
The host of this accommodation has thought of everything that a traveler could possibly need and/or want. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, etc. A thoughtful supply of breakfast foods was available, including fruit, yogurt, juice, milk, dry cereal, etc. The love seat in the main room was just right for comfort and mobility (getting up!). We appreciated the parking space that got our vehicle off the street. It's not possible to list all of the meaningful small amenities that were offered. Thanks, Neerja

New ZealandThe bedroom decor showed few, if any signs of the 100 year old character cottage. Bedside lamps were for mood lighting rather than for reading; yet 12 lightbulbs on the ceiling were sadly soul destroying. The lovely gingham sofa pictured when booked had been replaced with one much less lovely. Depressing raw mdf large shelving unit oversized for purpose, with 3 empty shelves confirming that. Paintwork on the bathroom door frame needs touching up; bedroom carpet wrinkles ( cover with rug or ?re-lay ).
Location, character cottage, clean with a cute kitchen set up and dining area; the front verandah for somewhere to sit for drinks. Loved the character dining table & chairs - rustic vintage style very appealing. Comfortable bedding.

New ZealandAn opening window in the bathroom would have been a bonus, but otherwise everything was perfect.
The room was exactly as described, we had complimentary breakfast items, the aircon was great, it was very hot during our stay & the aircon unit was practically silent. Walking distance to town, lots of space for our stuff, a good shower, & a check in from the host via the app to make sure we had everything we needed.

New ZealandCan't fault it!
Perfect in every way! Situated in a lovely street yet close to the town center. Can walk to the museum and river. It rained while we were there but we felt so cozy and comfortable. We loved the wee kitchen and the supplies. Tv/ bed/wifi/shower all 10/10. Would highly recommend. The owners live at the back of the house but you are completely separate and private.

New ZealandThat I only stayed 2 nights
As soon as you walk in you can feel how comfortable and clean it is. The property is situated in a area where everything is in walking distance. Town is about a 10 minute or less walk away. The family were very quiet, made me feel like I was at home. Actually I didn’t even hear them. The room had everything. They had gone out their way to make sure we wanted nothing. The room was well equipped with everything. From food,1st aid kit, games, makeup remover solution, and may more. My favourite thing was the “House Manual Book”, that they have on the table. It has all the information you might or will need while at your stay. From a manual on how to use electric blanket too a phone number to a doctor or dentist. Loved our stay
