New ZealandCheckin - we arrived at 6.15pm expecting our room to be ready for the 1 night we were staying. The room wasn’t ready and we waited another 20 minutes before we could get our room keys. Unfortunately we were in a rush to get to a concert plus checkin should be available from 3pm? Stain on floor in our room - there was a big stain on the floor in our room which although didn’t smell looked unsightly Terribly overpriced for the short time we were there

New ZealandFor the price 600 for one night in a studio I would have expected more than UHT milk and and two instant coffee sachets. Last time I stayed here for half the price we had a coffee machine. Bathroom quite dated and “rain shower” was so low I could t stand under it.

New ZealandShower was small and water was either really hot or cold, maybe an issue with the mixer?! Only 2 towels in the room and it wasn't serviced until late in the day so we had damp towels for showers before going out in the evening. We did request fresh ones but they didn't come in time.
Lovely public spaces, great bar (when open) and excellent breakfast. Bed was super comfy and room nice and quiet.

United StatesThe bed was uncomfortable, the shower would get really hot or really cold no matter how much you adjusted the water temperature. There were dirty spoons left in the hall and it looked like throw up in the middle of the hallway going to our room so we had to watch where we stepped. Asked for clean towels from housekeeping they never got sent up to our room. Overall it was an ok hotel at least it was quiet at night.

New ZealandThe 1 hour wait to check in on arrival. Check-in isn't until 3 pm. We arrived at 3.50pm. Got out of the line at 4.55pm. Using booking.com for this hotel may have been a downfall? I booked 2 rooms with no children with us. 4 adults. We got side by side rooms, but we had a accessible room for wheel chair users. we aren't in need of a accessible room. It was big and spacious. I'm unsure if this was my fault or the booking.com app didn't give me an option, and by default, I got it because of having 4 people 2 rooms booked. I felt awful as I'm able bodied the thought of someone maybe checking in that needs it .. the staff assured me they had multiple accesable rooms if this happened. I had a $100 bond added per room. So, it cost me $628 on arrival. I wasn't aware of the cost of $200 it stated nowhere in the fine print. Was payment on arrival. I used a debit card. - checked out 10.30 am and was told they'd email me all breakdowns and reverse the $200 payment minus my $55 valet charge. 8.30 pm now home, nothing no money and no email. This booking is via booking. Com hasn't even been updated as completed . At 7am - a ducting system or something kicked in, an extraction system. Was an annoying sound, much like an engine on a plane , humming . There are so many kids at this hotel. It's obviously a hot spot for families on school holidays and public holidays. 9am kids up down the hallway, counting the numbers on the door loud and running up and down. Blew me away that at a 5 star hotel, 2 ladies let 2 children kick a soccer ball around in the chandelier lounge bar coffee area. 2 boys primary school age dribbling a soccer ball each around. The pool was packed with families, so we didn't use it. Be good for an adults only time at night to , not just 1st thing in the morning.
The valet team super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a neat experience buffet at eight, nice coffee with breakfast made for us. Nice looking hotel iys really big. The desk team were informative. Comfortable beds, great size TV. Cute mini bar options. Nice touch for complimentry Waters and dental kit. Also having shampoo conditioner body wash in bathroom is helpful. For us our children are at AUT university, we loved that this hotel is so close to their apartment also on Symons St. One block away. We walked just down the hill to Lone star for dinner. So we were happy with location and proximity for food outside hotel.

New ZealandHousekeeping nearly walked into our room while someone was in the bathroom, they also did not give us a top sheet and instead we had a top sheet on the bottom of the bed. The older/richer guests there are also quite entitled and are rude to you if you are a young adult. Hotel room was affordable, but everything else was a rip off.

New ZealandWell,I didn't think I would be paying for parking as a guest,having to fork out $110 for the 2 night stay was a slap in the face,I asked the valet attendant are there any other options, he said yes but you need to park on the other side of the road,in this dodgy area. So that wasn't a great start. (very inconvenient) Now looking back watching the ads pop up on my Instagram story,it's advertised as kid friendly with lots of activities to do for the kids,when we arrived I asked was there any activities for the kids,he replied"No" its abit late,3:30pm late? By that point I just wanted to check in,prior to that I did request for 3 single beds ,which they couldn't provide,but offered a rollout bed for an extra $90 a night,I declined,So arrived to out room first thing we notice was a packet of eaten Tim Tams sticking out from under the bed,with biscuits still in them! I told the receptionist which was sympathetic. It just seemed very unprofessional even the staff,one of the spa/pool staff in uniform wearing the big earmuff headphones around her neck to the valet guy with the Bola hat wearing a tattered vest,room was average aswell,it felt like they wanted to squeeze every cent out of you for giving below par service. the only shining light was the girl who bought our breakfast to our room,she was very sweet. Would I stay there again? No...the experience was below average.

New ZealandIt was dirty in our area of the hotel it was pretty dissapointing the halls hadn't been vacuumed the whole time we were there, which was 3 nights, there was a plate in the hall way from the room across from us that was there for 2 days even after I called house keeping. Im not sure if it was just short staffed but it really lacked in cleanliness this time.

New ZealandChecking in difficult for booking.com customers and staff openly told us they hate booking.com (then don't have rooms on here?), small amount of non decaf coffee capsules provided for two guests and housekeeping didn't restock properly. We found a bloodstain on one of the sheets of the beds that had gone through to the bedding below after checking in, but to be fair we didn't raise this immediately by and just had housekeeping change the sheets on that bed the next day. Bag delivery to the room was slow, took nearly two hours and may as well have taken it upstairs ourselves.
Spa and pool area was lovely, beautiful lobby and restaurant area, good vegetarian selection on room service menu. Very friendly valet and room service staff.
