We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

New ZealandThe place was fairly rundown. The shower in the shared bathroom, was leaking all over the floor, making a bit of work to clean up. Kitchen was not very clean and everything looked old and worn out.

It was a last minute decision to stay in Dunedin after the rugby so I had to take the last room in town .

New ZealandWe had an issue with the owner/manager before we arrived, we had selected pay on arrival, ( booking was for my sister who doesn't have a credit card) the day before we arrived we started getting payment declined messages (for a visa that doesn't exist ) manager was saying pay now pay now, to an acct he gave over the phone, we were not going to do this, he sent it via email so we reluctantly paid even thought we had said we were paying on arrival, we then got messages from booking.com saying we had been reported for non payment, manager was berating, and rude on the phone and via messages, and he was telling me "you need learn add credit card", I always use booking.com for myself and numerous family members and I have never ever had an issue like this before, It could have been handled a lot better if the manager/owner was far more friendly and polite
Great location to the stadium ( there to see pink) building itself is a bit run down, but inside spotlessly clean, beds comfy and rooms tidy

New ZealandIt is run down, dusty AF, and very unpleasant. The bedding and linen seemed clean... that's it. The kitchen is yuck, the bathroom is yuck, the smell is yuck. It is extremely overpriced. No TV ( said it did ) , toilet seat broken, freezer hardly froze our freezer packs, carpet is gross, sent my allergies and asthma into overdrive. Tried not to spend any time there. Everywhere was booked out so had to stay.
Location. This place has potential. It could be a fantastic place! The host was so friendly. I feel bad about my review but I don't feel well now. My allergies went nuts.

There was advertised an arrival of 7-9pm, we arrived at 815pm on Friday 9th Feb 2024 to find the building was all locked up and appeared to have been abandoned for some time. there were no lights on, no access, no body present. there were two phone numbers on the door which we rang with no response. We therefore were stranded and with the Chinese new year celebrations in Dunedin unable to find accomodation at that late hour. Luckoly we found a room due to a cancellation that costs us almost twice as much. We noted that money had been taken out of the visa acoount although w were told we could pay on arrival. We were a bit in a delima as the boking was through BOOKING.COM We suggest that you visit the premises to see what you are booking for. We have locked our via account and would like those funds reimbursed ASAP
