Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandThe cleaning could be better, but nothing major. I would choose this Lylo again.
The WiFi was fast and they have comfortable facilities for working remotely. The bed was also very comfortable and the location is perfect, walking distance to any point of AKL CBD.

United KingdomIt was a bit too big for a hostel, felt hotel like sometimes. A lot of couples and groups around so not the best for a solo traveler. The luggage store was full and I wasn’t allowed to check in an hour early without a charge. The dorm rooms were windowless so dark in the mornings!
The pods gave good privacy and had chargers/lights right by the bed, felt secure with key card access to rooms and lockers, big kitchen, nice bar area, modern and clean facilities

AustraliaI found that the pod got quite hot some nights.
Pods offered a lot of privacy compared to other hostels. Check in and check out were very straightforward. There were plenty of bathrooms and showers. Location is great, right in the middle of the city.

United StatesThis list is extremely short. I'd say the prices in the bar are a little high but about average compared to Auckland. A good idea would be like a wristband for the day for a set price and drink as much as you'd like if you're staying there (saw it at some other hostels abroad). Also, a small free breakfast would've been nice given the price. But I really can't find anything else negative to say about Lylo it's a 10/10 in my opinion.
This was by far the nicest hostel I have ever stayed in. The private king suite is so well worth it for about $100 USD a night. The staff was amazing, and let me upgrade my room and continue keeping the same room the entire time I was there! Facilities were exceptional especially in my room and the hostel vibe was great. People were extremely friendly and the bar staff was amazing. The benefit of having the bar right down stares made it incredibly easy to socialize and meet new people all the while eating good food and drinking. They also give you 15% off in the bar if you're staying at Lylo, but make sure you tell them otherwise some of the bar staff will forget. If I'm back in Auckland no place I'd rather stay, in addition, they have a parking lot right next door which is super convenient, and amazing staff at the tourist center! All in all, the best place I've stayed in a long time! 10/10

United StatesN/a - everything was great.
Booked private room/bathroom and it was perfect for our 1 night stay. Beds were comfy and shower was nice. We arrived very late due to flight delays and unfortunately didn’t really get to spend time there. Parking next door was easy and contactless check-in was relatively easy. Space seemed very cool from what we saw. WiFi worked great. We would stay here again. Not an issue for us, but our room didn’t have a window. We didn’t mind as we were very tired and this allowed us to sleep in.

United StatesPods are hot and the fan was broken in mine. Bar downstairs offered discounts for guests but the bartenders never ask if you’re a guest so you always have to remind them

United KingdomNo window, although sometimes a blessing, did make it tricky to get out of bed in the morning!! Location is a bit of a walk from most things, about 20 mins to the harbour, so just make sure you’re happy to walk :)
We had a double twin bed en suite room whilst travelling round NZ for new year. Room felt clean, comes with towels and bedding, comfy pillows and decent storage space under the beds. No window came in handy for those tired post-travel days! Easy check in and luggage storage. Well connected to our kiwi experience bus to Paihia so that made travelling beyond Auckland very easy! Super comfy and felt safe.

SwitzerlandWell it's a bit expensive, but the hostel is really clean and modern. Moreover, it's a big place, and I felt people tended to be on their own, so meeting people can be somehow challenging, and the pods don't arrange things. Fortunately, the bar helps to break the ice.
I really enjoyed this place. Very clean and friendly. Since I arrived in the early morning, I could store my backpack and use the hostel's facilities. The kitchen and the bathrooms are tidy and clean. The pods in the dorms allow you some privacy. The bar is nice, they organised an event for NYE (didn't attend though). The hostel seemed me to be also a good meeting point for backpackers on a working holiday visa.

The location was fantastic! The staff, Matthew at the front desk, was very welcoming and very accommodating. The kitchen was closing soon but the bar manager placed our order and kept our food warm until we arrived. It was very much appreciated because we hadn’t eaten all day. The facilities were very clean and the atmosphere was perfect for celebrating New Years before flying home. Thank you!
